We always want to look like we know everything to our children.
We would always give long lecture when we see things that are not right like we know more than them and they are just too young to have the experience.
We paint a picture of ourselves to be the almighty one but it may not be true.
Our pride is the hindrance to learning from our children.
Children would share a lot more with us when we can lower ourselves to their level rather than always talking to them from the top-down approach.
Below is a nice videoclip of President Obama sharing about how his daughter, Sasha, had taught him how to use Snapchat which was the popular app then.
As the most powerful man then, he was able to learn new technology from his daughter.
Learning from our kids may just be the link to knowing them better and it would strengthen the bond between parents and their children.
We may be the knowledge giver at their early years but we would lose out to them in certain ways as they are exposed with a variety of knowledge online.
The humility of learning would be a good role model to them as parents who never stop learning.
