LIVE AS FREE CHRISTIANS

How wonderful and gracious are the excellencies of the great salvation Jesus Christ our Lord had purchased for us. This salvation was viewed in by the prophets and priest in the old covenant and they beheld it's glory and majesty. They wished that they had lived to experience the powerful love God was about to pour down for the redemption of his chosen ones. But we are the lucky ones. We have a great covenant that makes us free form the power of sin which is obtained from the law.

At the right time, God gave up his son, the only son to die a shameful and vicarious death on the cross for our sins. That is an extraordinary reality which apostle Paul describes as a mystery. It's unfathomable how God could give us his ONE and only son for sinful creatures like us. That's shows us the real love of our God. The love that lives for others and read to die for the sake of the unworthy. Therefore considering how marvelous this salvation is, it's expected of its beneficiaries to give it high esteem. We should not take the blood of Christ for nothing as so do by still clinging to the law. And here Paul was more insightful than I could ever be when he said to the Galatians following their neglect of the new covenant. He said

Galatians 2:21 I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.

And it's upon these words that I want to draw your attention to one of great mistakes some of us who have tasted of the true grace do. This is not new. We had a prefect example in the church of Galatia. These people we troubled with the Judaizers of the time who were pestering them to come back to the law as a form of perfection of the salvation they had received through grace. That's to say that salvation which is by grace cannot be kept by grace but rather by obedience to the law.

Now see something from chapter 3. He said Galatians 3:1 Oh, foolish Galatians! Who has cast an evil spell on you? For the meaning of Jesus Christ's death was made as clear to you as if you had seen a picture of his death on the cross. And this question goes to us all. Has some men cast any spell on us? Didn't we receive this salvation by grace alone? Why then do some try to augment the perfect work of Christ? Maybe we don't really understand what it means to work for our own salvation. It's an insult to God. It says that Christ's death on the cross was not adequate to purchase our souls from sin. It means that Christ's death couldn't match up with the vastness of the sins of men and that our sins are stronger and greater with more power than his blood.

That's why we shouldn't treat the blood of Christ as such. Let grave be grace and work be work. The time for work isn't in salvation. It's has its place and that's sanctification; where God works with us to conform us to his image more and more.

Galatians 5:1 So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don't get tied up again in slavery to the law.

Why? Is it because the love of God is too great to conceive ? If that's so then let it be forever great and greater. Because I need a great love like Christ's to overcome my sin. Let's live as free men. People who are not under law anymore but under the grace of God. Are we to live as antinomians ? Of course not! But that even as we live in the auspices of the grace of God, we will be yeided with power from on high to live like our Master Jesus Christ. But know for sure that living under the law couldn't do what grace has done.

Romans 8:3 The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin's control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins.

Live as a free man from the law, grow in grace and glorify the name of God. I ask with Paul for the last time

Galatians 3:5 I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ.
