Weekend-engagement topic week 48: Someone special

in Weekend Experiences3 years ago

In my fifty one years I have only met a handful of people I would call special; It's a very select, and small, group and each person within it has earned their place.

Yesterday I spoke at length with one of those people and spent some time reassuring them of why they are so special to me - That's the thing with special people, they rarely see it in themselves. I explained it of course, why they are special to me and others, lingered a little on all of the aspects of awesome that others see in the person and, I hope, helped them see their worth a little more clearly.

Thinking about that person today made me think about all the special people out there, those we truly respect, feel happy to be around or who have provided value to our lives giving them that privileged position of being called special to us. This week's topic is all about them, and is your chance to tell us about your own special person.

Happy Friday and welcome to the #weekend-engagement topic week 48, I hope you've had a good week and have a great weekend planned for the next few days - Get after it!

If you're not familiar with the #weekend-engagement concept you have to respond to the topic below in the comments of this post. It'll be cool if you stay around and engage with some of the others too - It's all about engagement so get involved and engaged!

On Monday I have some hive to transfer to a few of you who engage below, just for your commenting and engagement. It's pretty easy - Just get engaged. It's not a competition, simply a chance to interact with a few other hivers and have some fun.

Tell us about someone special 👇

In the comments below simply tell us about a person in your life whom you think of as special to you and explain why. You can post a picture also if you like. There is no wrong answer, you could even tag a hive user if you like, just make sure you explain your answer. couple im src

Read this bit so you know what to do. ☝️

That's the topic for this week folks. You have until very late Sunday night your time to get your response into the comments below and I hope you'll engage this week as it'll be good to see you around over the weekend. Have a great weekend if you engage or not.

My Friday track because we are: The special two

Sort:

I remember Anica. My both great-grandmothers were called the same.
The first one I wrote in Hive was blind.

But today I know that the most powerful woman I have met in my life was Anica, my great-grandmother from my mother's side.

She used to predict someone's future peas. Many people from all over the country were visiting her not only for that but also for giving them advice and guidance related to health, personal life, trauma, conflicts, all sort of issues, from those related to marriage to others.

She has taught me and my cousins games she used to play as a child in the early 1900s.In the backyard were she was almost as ireal as the whole nature surrounding her. She had such a powerful voice, yet a mild and sweet one.
During the winter, she would tell us stories near a traditional old stove. Stories I have never read anywhere along these years...I know now that those belong to the folk culture that are passed from generation to generation by narrating them like that, without them being written nowhere. In college, I have followed 2 years of Folklore studies. I've met similarities with Anca's stories, but nothing alike. ...old stories about the sun, the moon, the earth and the elements, about how you need to look at all of these and incorporate nature into your life. Ancestral stories maybe...

Anica took care of anybody's problems in our family. And the fortune that she left behind is in our hearts and genes... feel that.

I have a picture with her close. But I prefer to write about her...and to keep her close in my soul.
I haven't visited my relatives in the last 10 years. They are all-powerful in their poverty. Decent. Kind. Fair and optimistic. Hard-workers...united also. It's part of the legacy she left for us....
As for me, I am a wanderess, carrying that legacy gold inside of who I am.

@spaminator can you explain -0.5 % when this whole story is about my life?

rewards are not about linking stuff... I just made an example here... which I expect someone to downvote...

I like you girl, but money has nothing to do with liking about you. It's a complex problem hard to explain on this blockchain, that needs solving... some understand... others don't... I confess it needs a bit of technical knowledge. Not related to the economics of ICOs, token distributions, etc...

If you get along with the 100% free upvote, that might just be a distraction (or a save by what I can or not be excused)... I don't really care about rewards in short term... it's just not worth it... I got that trading with 5 minutes of learning, for more than it.

The important thing here is community and understanding, consensus, and governance! This is the future!

If people don't understand, that's a big problem for them. And I understand that it might mean this blockchain might not be for them, but maybe I am wrong... because if the only reason to be on this blockchain is rewarded... then I would be gone already... many years ago!

Think about it. I value opinions.

I also value opinions, which are always subjective.
I dislike statements for different reasons.
Blockchain is for everybody, as I see it. The rest of the insatisfactions will be solved. If not, it's just going to be a matrix...reloaded.

As for liking me, I'm glad you do. Yet, I'm not a "girl" anymore, I'm a woman for many years now.

I also believed in the values you have expressed here until I was proven something else. There are communities with high respect from my side, where I can clearly state those people have decency, at least.
Life has taught me never to be a "true believer", but to trust those that stick to our mutual objectives, values, strategy, etc. In 2 months of being here, I have done more than some people that were here for 1 year. In the ecosystem and outside of it, all for Hive. So that could tell you something about my engagement if you haven't noticed the things I have done expressed in some of my articles.

If I were here for the rewards, I wouldn't have stayed more than 1 day.
Fortunatelly, my digital print and the things that I do online for so many years get me at least 1-2 BTC per month with no struggle, talking about the actual value of BTC.

Moreover, all the things that I usually engage in are things that I trust more than 50% that they'll work.
So, talking about those people being here for rewards only, my friend, good for them. There are people from poor countries that try to deliver some content here because they need to eat, live, survive. This is one reason why I appreciate Hive. Because it gives a chance for everybody, no matter their level of English.
I am here because I have more plans further on than these first steps. I have clients waiting for me to tell them how to introduce their business into this blockchain, groups that I might bring to cover several niche topics, and much more punctual approaches.

This has been a topic that is now closed by both parties before you came. BUT:
Thank you for your feedback. It might be useful for someone who is here for some peas.

Have a good day!

A women big fat balls indeeed ;) I like that too...😎

Neah! Just a brave puss.

tag @anthonyadavisii - requesting advice regarding spaminator downvotes

Based on the comment from @hivewatcher, there appears to be an alleged pattern of abuse. They usually put such users on an autodownvote but it would be nice if these are accompanied with a comment pointing users to the evidence for transparency. I don't know how difficult of an ask that would be but did mention in my reply to their comment to you so hopefully we will see.

thank you for your attention.

if it's against the law to ask people to donate for your surgery, then it should also be against the law for all of the other "charity organizations" on this platform.

tag @hivewatchers - please review spaminator settings, what crime has been committed here?

Crime? I have no idea what you mean.
We have never dealt with crimes.
We are dealing with abuse of the platform.
Such as the theft of other people's content and posting as own to deceive the community and monetize this content.

The plagiarist "regenerette" will stay blacklisted, just as this plagiarist previous account "regeneretta" was blacklisted

After going over the account and seeing only a few infractions where they forget a source of the material used in their, not entirely sure she warrants a plagurism flag in the slightest, not to mention after losing her account once to a phishing attack and pushing through that to come back to the community.

Asking for an appeal on her behalf from this blacklist and auto-downvote shit. If she fucks up again I'll downvote her myself, But I don't think her intentions are that of a plagurist, and rather this is a teachable opportunity to help a new user "learn the ropes" instead of just marking them as a spammer and throwing away the key.

Get back to my ASAP please. I've explained to her that if you use outside source material other than your own original writing you must include a link to author or mention original source. Shit canning users this new that have already been given ample reason to leave buy other difficulties faced is silly, and calling in a blacklist flag shouldn't fall onto the choice of a single individual ever.

Calling a person a "plagiarist" after from what I can tell is ~6 or less incidents where they used text from elsewhere without quoting source..? Eh, by that definition we're probably looking at half the accounts here getting flagged then.

Anyways, I request and appeal on her behalf, she knows what she needs to focus on to not do anything perceived as future plagiarism. Talk soon @hivewatcher

Loading...

@klye

I will remove the blacklist. The next time it will be permanent though, so please make sure that this user does not steal someone else's content on mass again.

Just as the user was stealing other's content on an old account (long before being phished):
https://peakd.com/hive-160446/@regeneretta/just-read-this

And now caught stealing on mass. The user being caught with plagiarism in multiple posts (spinning/rewriting to avoid detection) just in the last week alone.
And the user has the audacity to loudly and falsely deny make herself a victim, using excuses and trolling Hivewatchers on Twitter.
Just because we only commented on few posts last week, does not mean that there are only these.
The whole blog is one mass theft of content.

Capture.PNG

She never provided the source of her spun/rewriting (it is all shown on the blockchain). Even if she did, that would either be an attempt to copy-paste or plagiarism (as she did not get permission to use this original author's/website copyrighted content).

She claims that she forgot the sources (typical, naive, false claim used as an excuse which we have heard hundreds of times by now from all sorts of plagiarists)
Someone can "forget" the source once. Not a flood of "forgetfulness" dozens of times.

Thank you.
Trust evokes trust.
I'll see into this matter not to repeat from now.

For complete transparency:

I have posted from @regeneretta an article about our new company and coin here, https://ecency.com/hive-160446/@regeneretta/just-read-this

Feel free to contact Email: [email protected], Uwe will tell you if the content I have used on my article belongs or not to my website = https://mysafecrypto.info/ is my website, which is a replica of what we first created on https://worldcryptolife.com/mall/ and improved after. My website is the first replica of the first website, meant for marketing purposes. After this first site, we have created several for the early adopters of our coin.

Uwe Uhele is the one in charge, just mention my name, simply @regenerette and he will tell you that specific content belongs to me, our whole team has changed it sometimes for other duplicate sites after we have launched the first replica (my website) after Uwe's main website.

All the information I have provided back then in my article was already under copyright: ©Copyright - mysafecrypto.info which is my website, made by the same guy who owns https://worldcryptolife.com/

I appreciate the fact that you have changed your mind. And with your permission, I will report hate speech, plagiarism, and much more happening around Hive, things that sometimes go unnoticed. Just tell me how and where should I report these things, @hivewatcher

Thank you, @klye, @wil.metcalfe, @logiczombie, and @anthonyadavisii! Your guidance and support mean a lot.

<3 thank you for the blacklist removal. I'll try and keep an eye on her. I gave her shit for not including sources so I think she's aware now that it's a requirement.

I agree that once or twice is gine, shit happens.. BUt yeah, if it continues to be an issue then it's a true issue. I think she'll smarten up to be honest. Seems genuine enough.

Thanks for the consideration! Have a gooder captain!

Thank you for doing the in-depth detailed work that you do @hivewatcher.

Keeping content original and authentic is really important to the continuance and integrity of the Hive Blockchain. It’s probably a huge head ache and takes up a lot of brain juice but someone’s got to do it if we want to maintain Hive as the go-to destination it is becoming!

I’m sure that sometimes this feels like a thankless job.... but what a necessary one it is! I can only imagine (in horror!) what it might be like around here without people who care like you do!

However... as a person who values integrity, unique authenticity, and authentic well written content combined with connection, I also value friendliness and substantiation.

Considering we are dealing in fact here, is there not a public repository where situations can be logged in a case by case way?

Because we are a decentralized community of people posting rich content (some of which could be quoted sources to add layers of meaning and depth) I think it might be a wise future forward implementation to avoid potential negative vibes and mutual mystification.

The more clear cut we can make things the more decentralized and trust compounding our processes can become strengthening the community culture and the foundations of friendliness that spring from this. Securitization AND a welcoming environment are both imperative to all of our success here on the Hive Blockchain.

When it comes to content... I get the vigilance. Content is the substance of what makes up people’s lives... and that’s why people care about it so much! (Especially here on the Hive Blockchain!) We want a culture like this on Hive. One that protects and values genuine effort and input. Content that people care about... but we must also preserve the friendly welcoming nature of this community. It’s vitally important if we are to continue growing and bringing more amazing people and real substance into the network.

Thank you for reading and your consideration and thank you for giving @regeneretta a pass as I think she’s presently doing her best to represent Hive favourably on and off this blockchain.

I believe that the more people invest (in time and capital) into making Hive their home... the less likely they are to have shortsightedness in their actions and the more likely they are to respect and value the reasons behind why this place is different and works as a way to value information and content.

Let’s all keep doing good and spreading “Good Wil”. 😉

-Wil

This account has noted plagiarism? Curious to review the reports if there is a way to pull it up. The downvoted comment in this thread seems to be a genuine contribution.

Adding a comment to the downvoted comment with links to substantiate the alleged pattern of abuse would be helpful for community transparency. Wonder how difficult that would be to work in. 🤔

The evidence left in out multiple comments is clear. I am not going to copy you a link to the "replies" section of the blog. I am sure that you are able to find it yourself.

What a great response about a great woman! It really made me feel the respect you have for her but more so the way you feel she is so special and how she has impacted your life, and others.

Those old folklore stories are so valuable and I hope you remember them and will pass them on - That's how folklore works.

In your wandering ways you carry your grandmother Anica, the other too, and that's as it should be.

Awesome response regenerette!

!ENGAGE 20

Thank you so much for reading it. Any issues that have appeared over the weekend were fixed.

I look forward to having more energy and engage in your future challenges and I shall always appreciate their quality and dynamics!

It took me a while to decide to write about Anica or not, because her memory now is so personal....a real treasure. And I am glad I have opened up and did it!

Thank you for this opportunity to revalue my belongings and my identity!

I understand the feeling of wanting to keep some things private however it's sometimes nice to share such empowering stories with others that they may also benefit. 🙂

Thanks for getting involved.

I'm looking forward to this weekend's topic!

Ok, This might be a little bit different now. Someone special.

For the longest time I didn't think this person was special. Special in the meaning of worth being treated well, being recognized as who this person was. I was denying her values, I was observing her attempt to please others. I saw weakness. On the other hand I observed that person being strong and good-natured, idealistic. Still I didn't allow the person to be special too me.

I saw her value others and share love, I also saw her fail and hurt to an extend that I couldn't forgive. But I started to take a closer look and opened up towards her. That was when this person started to become more special to me. I realized that each one is special, every living being, every bit of existence. With this I understood that even the person I never valued much is worth being valued by me for who she is.

This special person was me.

Anna, there's not much else I can say here except thanks for opening up and sharing this and that I relate completely as will many I believe. Enough said.

Thank you, and yes you are. Special.

!ENGAGE 20

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Damn. I didn't see that coming. I think that is just an extraordinary look at a very special person. I think learning that lesson earlier rather than later is a really positive in your life.

Thanks for that. I really do appreciate it.

Hey thanks. Hmmm earlier than later, depends, took me 40 years and still working on it lol.

I think a lot of people pay attention to others rather than themselves. The hardest lessons learned these days are through looking in the mirror and being honest with what you see. To not lift yourself up above others or to think that you are better than anyone out there, or that you are less worth than anyone out there.

In the end everyone and everything is special, each in their own way.

Beautiful. 😍 I almost missed your response to this weekend's engagement. Everyone of us is special but do we realise this? I'm glad you do.

In a way, you remind me that I too, I'm special. Thank you. 🙂

Haha Don't worry. There are so many great comments here, missing out on things is just normal. I miss out on so much stuff and a couple days later I'm often like "Dang, how could I missed this?" 😄

I'm still in a learning process. Living in a society where certain values are not valued you can easily miss out on recognizing that everything and everyone is special. Realizing that, you don't lift yourself above others, at least not as much.

But equal and humans are two things hard to be put together. Our societies are driven on being better than others and that hinders equality for everyone. Change is needed in so many ways.

Not one for naming people since I may miss many, this occasion is an exception since I have had many super special people I have met over my lifetime.

Today I focus on Hive;

First is @brittandjosie "Flying Dutchman" helping everywhere to guide people when landing here, quietly posting, in the background working #theterminal. Wishing Britt a very Happy Birthday today, may the future be as positive having people like you here.

Second is @jaynie "Boots n All", since I met Jaynie her honesty and open mindedness flows through encouraging people to let go and move on. A powerful trait to have when sharing ones past or expressing oneself in writing.

Emotional turmoil, honesty about life in general, I find both these ladies inspiring and motivating in totally different ways.

To all those who know these two users I'm sure they will hold special thoughts. B's enthusiasm and the letting go and moving on ethos J has. So valuable.

!ENGAGE 20

Coming from a generation where woman worked quietly in the background both stand out in expressing desire of being more vocal. I am sure many more will appear, many I have not mentioned either!

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend engaging.

Happy weekend to you too Joan.

@joanstewart wow lady thank you for the shoutout , and Flying Dutchman hahhah more dutch addict hahahah but i said it before, when you have help when the beginning is daunting i hope to make a diffence for the new bee's and together with BOOT hahah its great. So i consider this another birtday gift thank you.
And honesty is always the best policy , thought it isnt the easiest
Big hug dear

Weekend of celebrating Britt, birthday, mothers day, now back to doing what you consistently do, helping others, thanks!

I really had a hard time naming a name. I did it, but I feel like I 'gave up on' three others. I didn't but I certainly know the feeling

Hope you well @bigtom13, summer is arriving are you traveling again? Waiting to see your special tours once again....

Hello @galenkp! This weekend's topic may make some of us emotional. 😄 I have people that are special to me and I may not be able to talk about them all.

One thing I realised is that I had many people I counted as special to me when I was younger but then life taught me lessons and made me see things clearly. As I grew older, the circle became small, the number less.

Now I have a few solid people I call friends, people who stood by me through thick and thin became the special ones. My nephew who is also my godson is special to me and I love him. He's just three but has my heart! 😍😄 I was there with him right from the womb to when he rolled out of his mom and the first to hold him in my arms. He was a cute baby and growing up into a fine boy!

A nephew is a good special person indeed.

Those must have being proud moments for you holding him in your hands.

G-dawg sure has a book of perfect topics. I also have a lot of special people in my life.

They make life worth living don't they?:)

You are absolutely right! I was proud my sis and her husband wanted me in the delivery room. I was overjoyed when I held my nephew in my arms. It's an eternal memory for me.

So yes, the special people in our lives make life worth living. Thank you 🙂

Exactly.

I never didn't get the opportunity you had though but when I eventually saw her after a whip, It still felt as good as ever.

img_0.22729414096352607.jpg

She is my model too ☺😅

Aww, she's adorable and apparently a fun lover from this picture. Heheh, you've just got to love them. W.S. Gilbert said, “It's love that makes the world go round.”

She is a handful, almost never listens to me, what makes them loveable 😅

Gilbert is a wise man.

As I grew older, the circle became small, the number less.

This is an important life lesson. We change and people does so. Having a small circle is worth a lot more than a million friends. It means you have reliable people around you and that they rely on you as well.

My nephew who is also my godson is special to me and I love him. He's just three but has my heart!

This is so sweet! Around here godfathers tend to disappear after the children are baptized or named.

Hmm, for those godparents who disappear from a child's life, it's their loss. They have no idea what they are missing.

Some believe because they are not direct parents, they have no obligation. Being named a godparent is like the biological parent entrusting the child into your care.

Hehehe, I take my role seriously and enjoy spending time with my nephew. 🙂

That sounds nice. And I get it, my godparents are well a case of MIA. Glad to know there are people doing that really important job.

Hi, you're right, as we mature our circle of friendships shrinks.

It certainly does. At this point, one has experienced a lot and therefore able to filter through one's circle to draw closer those who would always have your back through thick and thin. 🙂

This topic just ground me to a standstill when I read it Friday morning (my time) and still has me conflicted at Sunday Lunch.

There have been 4. Two are dead and two aren't. Each has been just completely instrumental in getting through a specific time in my life. How do I put one above or ahead of another? I really am conflicted.

I was really have really been a babe in the woods socially for most of my life. A big, tough nasty babe but still. One taught me most of what I know about getting along in life. One was part and parcel of my getting sober (with not being dead as part of that) one was there, and I mean right there, when my daughter died. He left the hospital a couple hours before I did, but by the time I got home he'd been arrested for "Howling at God" in his back yard at 0500. I was at least able to go give him a ride home...

And then there's Ray. I met him when early in the life of my coffee shop. He had just bought this house that I live in when we opened. I was sitting on the patio after work on Memorial day when he showed up late. He got a cup of coffee and we basically just sat. He said he was remembering friends and his son. I told him I was remembering friends and my daughter.

To take a whole bunch of words out of the middle, he was the best rider I've ever known and we ended up with me following him for well over 100,000 miles. He did crazy rides like going to El Paso for a burrito. It's 550 miles and we were back before midnight of the same day. It was 40C for a bunch of that ride, we looked like lobsters at coffee in the morning.

I learned a lot from Ray, not the least of which was how to die with grace and dignity and still be a tough son of a bitch. He managed. We would argue and trade fuck you with startling frequency and both knew that it was just words. Often we were OK with each other in minutes. I still miss him every day and it's been 10 years since he left. Every single day brings something I wish I could show him or talk to him about.

He was a cat guy (He had one called 'roof rabbit') and I'm pretty sure he'd have gotten along just fine with Sam.

So that's it. Ray. Damn I miss him.

Everyone needs a Ray...Although we're not always lucky enough to have one. This post made me think if I have a Ray and to be honest I have to say I don't believe I do. It's a bit sad to admit that I guess but I don't have much to hide. I have some very good relationships, some indestructible ones, but it sounds like Ray was pretty special.

Thanks for sharing...I related to much of what you said above, but will leave those thoughts off the blockchain.

Also, thanks for dropping by, in the current situation you I didn't expect it, but I'm glad you did.

Such a great post mate, hats off too you. Hands down the first person that comes to mind is my partner. We've been best mates since 11 and 12, went to school together and have been with each other nearly every day.

She's not the only special person in my life but she's the one that's puts up with me the most. I'll keep this brief as I'll pop in a weekend engagement post.

But in life we come across many special people, as we get older we drift away. I'm lucky that I've been able to have someone by my side and me by hers for so long. I don't know any other life and wouldn't want it any other way.

Thanks for this week's engagement topic, ripper

Whaaaaat? You have known each other like since you were both 11 or 12??

Your partner is like your childhood best friend then. You are both a model because many relationships are falling apart for so many reasons. How do you do it, if you don't mind my asking? Hehehe, lessons in relationship. 😁

Ah that's an easy one, you need to treat her like your queen. Don't run at every bit of hardship and most importantly men need to keep it in their pants.

Plus I cook every night and not just any food really good food. Relationships are hard work and are always a negotiation between two people but most importantly love bonds it together

Well said sir. Relationship needs love and commitment to grow. It's a lot of work and sometimes, we go in thinking it's going to be rosy always.

You cook too? Aw, your partner is blessed! 😍😄 Wish your family loads of happiness!

20210503_165626.jpg

Not sure if your into pasta but spinach and ricotta cannelloni. I used to upload a few into #foodiesbeehive but not many people were into it so I've back off abit from that group. Perhaps I should start a new thread.

Wow, this looks yummy!
You should totally start a new thread. 🙂

A man that cooks for his woman is definitely a keeper. I should know - on our first date my now husband cooked dinner for me 😍

Thats wonderful ❤ I hope he has kept it up and continues to cook for you. It's really special being able to create a meal for the person you love.

Now that looks like a special pasta. 😃

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Nephews are great ❤ although they are even scarier. When they start popping up you know you're getting old :( I'm the eldest so it is scary for me

😄😄 I know! It's the circle of life... We age everyday. The part I love more is how cute and cuddly they are as babies.

Acknowledging the special people in our lives is incredibly important; Vocalising our gratitude and acting in a manner that shows those people what they mean to us will only bring more amazing moments and feelings for both.

!ENGAGE 20

Totally agree mate, your post was beautiful 👌

Great to have your best friend and confidant right beside you all the way.

Turmoil, arguments yes, sharing and trust go a long way. Noted you cook too, now that is a bonus...😉

Yours is a great answer!

Wow, how nice to honor your partner. I really like that you write about her. The partner in our life is so important.

Thank you, yes you're right and it is true our partners are so important

Yes, I hope you and your wife have a lot of years togethers

Partners are indeed important and special.

Thank you for sharing about your someone special. Keep it up and you will be both happy together.

Thank you, yes definitely will. It has been a great life journey

That's it and congratulations for having her in your life, so inspired

Proud of you

One of the luckiest thing that could ever happen to a man is finding the perfect women.

I am so happy for you mate. With such immense love and friendship your union would be an everlasting one.

My, my, my... This is as deep as connections to people go. An amazing achievement in terms of human relationships. Where's the people who gives awards about important stuff? This person deserves a medal.

I also wanna know how you do it. Learning from people who have these great relationships is lifechanging.

Thank you my friend, pretty much what I said to Kimmy before.

But I would also say share in new experiences with each other. Be happy and even when you're not happy as not all days will be joyful have each other there to be happy with.

We do the same, together 24/7 and have grown together like one.
Respect to you mate even though I cannot cook to save my life :)

Tough one to decide around here. Hmm... I guess grandpa is out of the list because he's not around anymore, so I'll stick to Hive. My choice for this is no other than the awesome and talented Gabriela @mipiano. Not only I have the chance to be witness of her ability to play the piano, but sometimes we get to chat a bit via discord about things we are going to do in the platform of just any other topic. Maybe she thinks my comments in her musical posts are a bit too much, but having the chance to see that display of talent is a marvel and gives me the chance to exercise my music critic skills (if there's any). Hopefully, she will see this tag, blush and comment. 😂

I think its unfair to exclude grandpa just because he's no longer around. It's who stays in your heart that matters. Not saying @mipiano isn't worthy as I enjoy watching her play the piano as well!

It might not seem fair, but my grandpa gets his spotlight in a lot of my posts because he was that awesome.

Special people will always be special people no matter where they are. I agree.

Oh, thank you @livinguktaiwan, not so many new piano posts lately, I suppose I have to change that fact and bring back more of piano music :)

And I agree too, grandpa should not be excluded, and I know he is not, he is a special person to bertrayo.

This is a good choice and shows the value of hive and how it connects people on a deeper level.

Hey @bertrayo , thank you for this mention, and sorry for my late reply 🙏
Although we can not see too many of my piano playing posts lately, just a few ones, it was a pleasure always to read your great comments! Thanks for that too :)

The grandpa will always stay in your memory 😇😇 I know he was someone special to you 🙌

Have a great weekend ! :)

Don't worry, replies come when the time is right. It's a pleasure to find those posts when they come and comment on them.

The grandpa will always stay in your memory 😇😇 I know he was someone special to you 🙌

Indeed. He's always around in my mind and heart.

Have a great weekend! :D

One day I will write a full post about it, maybe I won't. I only have one person in mind, and it's @lionmom.
How many times @dandays, asked me to write about how I met my wife?

I travelled 12000km to find her, I realised how much I take her for granted, but in all honesty I don't remember how life was before her, not that great... As if almost my life started the day I met her. I am not the most pleasant person to be around, but she always find the right words to get through me.

There isn't a more generous, giving, patient, caring, intense person in the entire world, almost as if she was made for me. I know you understand @galenkp where I come from, because you feel the same way about your loved one.

I don't know what I did to deserve someone that amazing in my life, but I thank god, the universe, and circumstances, for leading me to her!

Also, thanks to all the people that shared their stories in the comment section!

but in all honesty I don't remember how life was before her, not that great

When a person cannot remember what life was like prior to being in their relationship with that one special person then one knows the relationship is right. I know how you feel.

This song comes to mind: Jigsaw heart

Thank you for commenting today and yes, it is very cool that people have shared their own special person stories...The intention of the topic was to spread some love. Seemed to work.

Omg, like I am almost in tears as I read your comment. Happy tears, of course.

I travelled 12000km to find her

😳 You did? I think that says all I need to know. When someone means that much to you, you should go to any length to get them.

....she always find the right words to get through me...I am not the most pleasant person to be around, but she always find the right words to get through me.

Shows she's just for you and you for her. No matter our personality, people may distance themselves but there will always a select few that would stay attached to us, no matter what. Such that others will ask them, "what do you see in her or him that you are close to her/him?"

BTW, where's @dandays? Quit hiding and come say hello 😆

My moonwalk is on point! I even did a front moonwalk. Ooh!! It's a good time for spin moves, when isn't it a good time for spin moves?! I can't help it.. It's in the song.

Twirl-twirl-dip. Tap-tap-tap-dip

😅 Love is certainly in the air! Hehehe, I see you found your gif.

Who is your special one? Tell us.

That was a one time for you. 😉 I would have to leave out too many people to name just one.

@edprivat have you showed this comment to @lionmom , its Mother's Day here tomorrow so we honour special women weel you hit a nerve with me, so go show her NOW, its so sweet and indeed when you don't remember ITS THE ONE FRIEND HOLD ON TIGHT

Thanks ❤ will do right away 😁

I'm not sure how long I've been asking for the story now but 12,000km is just the beginning considering ya'all been working on developing a whole basketball team ever since and this is all I get?!

What kinda shit is that!!

A couple short paragraphs huh? I see the ladies, "show Lionmom!" I'm thinkin ima screen shot her your half asleep best written summary when I've been asking for the novel version this whole time.

img_5736.png

Where's Rubido? Was Jackie and Charlie in good shape? Either of them overweight or light? What you've Doberman with those dogs homeboy is a memory that's gonna stay with your kids way beyond you and Lee's days.

It's my pleasure to know you dude.

Hi @galenkp, I love your question! Like you at 49 years old, I have very few people I could truly call friends, maybe I count them on the fingers of my right hand and have fingers to spare, but the important thing here are the people who are there.

So I am going to tell you about my best friend, we met 30 years ago. At that time I was 19 and she was 31. We met in college, I was studying at night and she clicked right away with me. From that moment on we became almost sisters. At first it was because of a common interest, studying. I almost lived in her house, while she was cooking, taking care of her daughter and her husband, I was chasing her around the house, going over study subjects with her.

Eventually she helped me get a job where she worked, so we were not only study partners, but also work partners and she became my sensei, as far as work was concerned. She taught me everything she knew.

After finishing college, I retired from work and went to live in another city. Our lives continued to be united by that invisible bond that marks a true friendship. At least once a month we talk and it is a fluid conversation, based on mutual respect, admiration, understanding, loyalty and commitment. I feel her as my sister and I know she feels the same way about me. Just thinking of her or her thinking of me is enough for the phone to ring and our voice to change immediately. Thank you for the moment of instropection!

Here my friend an I.

IMG-20150102-WA0003.jpg

So great to have such a special friend. 😃

Thank you. That is right i am very lucky woman

Your friend would probably say the same. 😃

Jajajaja that is right. She thought the same

Best friends make a good choice for special person and it's nice to hear that you keep the friendship alive even despite the distance.

!ENGAGE 20

Hello, @galenkp yes, at the first i thought we weren't friends anymore, but the time said us the opposite. We have a great friendship!

Aww, this is beautiful. I love what you and your best friend have. This sort of relationship is rare - you 19, she 31? I would ask how you both make it work? But then, age is just a number. It's the union of minds that matter.

Hello @kemmyb , yes our age is only a number. We become good friends because we respect each other, we have a lot of thing in commun and our communication is great

Well, it's an easy one for me too. Like others commenting, it would have to be my wife. Liza has put up with me now forever (over 10 years), and she's always there for me. No matter how much I might screw up, or have self-doubt, or even let life get me down, she's been there for me like a rock. It's cliche, sure, but it's true. I couldn't ask for a better partner with more patience than her, and I think Hattie likes her too :) I mean, I wouldn't put up with me, lol - she's a saint!

You have always been complimentary of Liza at those rare times you mention her so I am not surprised you cite her as the special person in this comment. For all the reasons you say above she deserves it. I'm sure you're not too hard to put up with but yeah, we all feel those down times and Liza helps facilitate them, supports you...That's how it should be.

!ENGAGE 20

Shhhh...don't tell her! lol - just kidding, and that aside, she really has put up with the mess I can be. You know you've met your partner when someone can put up with the silly things that make us human. I sense you and your wife are the same in some ways...we're lucky guys, no doubt.

We can all be a bit of a mess for many reasons; As long as we treat those around us well then it's ok to be a bit fractured.

I think that this question will have many similar answers: Parents, siblings, loved ones, pets.
So I will go with a different answer. Previous coach of my favorite basketball team.

He completely transformed our small budget team. Gave them hunger for victory and made them believe that they can win against any opponent. And led our team to the heights that were unimaginable for many years.

CDPR for making my favorite games of all time.

And also people who created Hive. and people who I interact here on Hive. Even super introvert like me needs some place where he belongs and feels at home. Right now Hive is that place for me.

A sporting coach is a special person indeed. Bringing a group of people together towards a common goal is a challenge and it takes a special person.

!ENGAGE 20

I gifted this coach one of my pieces:
Vilties šviesa 1.jpg

Vilties šviesa.jpg

I remember that some other spectators and people who check those who enter the arena where quite surprised when I came to watch a game while holding this. But they decided that this is not a weapon so I was allowed to pass.😜

Haha, yes it doesn't look much like a weapon, more like a really cool gift for that coach who probably really deserved it. Nice work. :)

Great to gift someone a token of appreciation like this, a motivator who brought you a lot of joy.

Did you paint it? Its nice!!

yes. thank you.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Super Introvert? Heheh, you don't sound like one to me but I agree, Hive is a super cool place that accommodates us all!

A coach who transformed your team to victory and great heights will surely be held in high esteem. Shows he was dedicated to your team and gave his best.

I like such people, they motivate me to win. Is he still into coaching? I'm sure he treasures every team he had positively influenced.

He spent several years with my favorite team (Zalgiris), became a local hero/ demigod. and now he is coaching a team that is most likely going to win euroleague this season- Barcelona . I hope that at some point in the future he will return here in Lithuania and coach Zalgiris once again. but that seems like a distant future because he might stay in Barcelona for a while or he could try coaching in nba...

Sporting coaches, great inspiration and motivation in life. Everyone needs one!

Pretty beautiful speech there mate
:)

Coaching has to be one of the most tasking jobs ever. Takes great courage and responsibility amongst other things to wield a team successfully.

We can't fail to thank Hive creators/users of course 😅. I found another home here too.

This is an interesting one. Transforming a low-budget team is no easy task. Kuddos to the guy!

And also people who created Hive

These people are the real MVPs around the internet. What would we do without them? I couldn't tell.

yes leading a team with a low budget all the way to the final 4 of Euroleague is a true miracle.

Nice topic @galenkp...

This one is easy for as that person is my mom!
There is no doubt about it.
I literally wouldn't be half the man I am today without her. She raised me, fed me, made sure I had what I needed for sports, made sure I got educated... All the while teaching me values I would gladly pass on to my children (when I have them).
And till this day she is alway ready to help however she can... Even if it's just someone to talk to or run something by her.

I just hope I'll be able to somehow, I'm not gonna call it "repay" cause that sounds like I have to "pay" something back, but I just hope I live up to my idea of that... That support, that being there, that I've always gotten from her.

Haha I'll keep stop here cause this might turn into a book...

But... I'm proud to call myself her son
😃😃😃

Wow, happy for your mother who has someone like you that makes her special someone. Keep loving your mom and your mom will never make you disappointed.

Thank you! I will 😃

But... I'm proud to call myself her son

Aw, I love this! 😄 So sweet. Most men value their moms so much and vice versa. I'd always wondered the reason behind this.

Your mom seem an amazing person. Mothers are wonderful people. They'll go to any length for their children.

Hahah seems so! There is also this supposed daddy-daughter connection so maybe it's even :)

And thanks! She is, we had some fun video calls today

Just be the best version of yourself mate, as often as you can...That will be repayment enough for your mum. She just wants the best for you.

Thanks for sharing mate.

Nothing can beat a mother's love, as a dad sometimes I am jealous of the bond between my kids and my wife. They love her so much more than me 🤣

Hhaha maybe it's the 9 month head start???
Don't worry the love for dads still has a chance later in life 😃

Hahaha I'll just become a blank cheque book!

Yes I totally understand it's the 9month head start and it's absolutely beautiful to watch.

So beautiful man. Yup, me too my special person is my mum. Moms are unsung heroes of times.

I use to think to myself too how I will repay my mom, and I realize that I shouldn't be striving to repay her but to make her happy, and ironically, my happiness is her happiness, haha.

Moms are best, then dads, xd

Thanks man!
Wise words, I think repay might also be the wrong word, just mean to do right by her

Exactly bro.

We all pray to do the right thing by our mom.

Cheers bro

Beautiful mother-son relationship. I congratulate you for thinking that way, your best friend, your mother, who gave you everything as you say and that very few times we see her as that special person who would give absolutely everything for us.

Thanks for your kind words 😀

An apple never falls far from the tree, so the saying goes, your Mom obviously is someone you are able to turn to for anything at any given time. Great your feelings run deep, I am sure she feels the same way about you!

hahaha I hope so!
Just kidding, I've never doubted it, the feeling is definitely mutual.

You could write a book eh. So great to have the love of parents. You probably can't "repay" but surely she'll appreciate you telling her what you told us.

I actually copied my answer and send it to her on WhatsApp... Made her day 😃

That’s sweet😃
untitled.gif

Thats so sweet @gvkanten , how are you ? Great to read you

Thank you! I'm good! (fully vaccinated now, I think that was our last convo)
How are you?

In our line of work we meet many different and special people. Most at the helm of charity organizations and the difference is that they have no personal desires, but they are rather intent and focused on the improvement of others.

Like the flow of the waves in the ocean, they flow through our lives and it's the same with the supporters of out charity. All made of special stuff.

One man in particular stands out, even though we only know him for two years. He stood on the border of death with Leukemia, but he beat it and runs a huge charity. He was a very successful business man, but like me, his life changed overnight and he walked away from the things of the world.
Thousands of poor children adore this man and he is indeed a very special man.

It sounds like he is worthy of the title of special.

!ENGAGE 20

Thank you @galenkp and I think that once a person really understands the frailty of life, then it certainly changes one's worldview.

I will have some great news soon on a new venture that we are working on and it seems that a big dream of mine is busy manifesting.

Great to manifest dreams...I had one taken away this morning, but that happens too. Keep on doing your thing mate, no other choice really right?

Sorry, had to go out to get some photos for my post, as the 4 day storm is over and the sun was back.

I hope that the your dream that was taken away did not hurt too much and I feel for you mate.

My dream for a long time is a big and expensive one and many times I had the thought that it was an impossible one. But not any more as totally unexpectedly some souls with a similar dream started to appear and now it is all systems go.
I cannot tell you how thankful I am and the great thing is that they like my version the most. So yes, big things are in the pipeline.

No details yet, but once we get going with it, I will let the cat out of the bag.

Now I am inquisitive about your lost dream ???
Any way that I can help?

Any way that I can help?

Nah mate, I've shifted it to a goal now anyway, so it'll happen. When is the question, not if. Thanks though.

Right, a goal you say and that's good because if anyone can do that, you are the one.

Sounds like an interesting person has arrived in your life. Intriguing new adventure on the horizon, good luck and have a wonderful day.

Thank you Lady Joan and sorry as I only saw this now.

Yes, beating cancer is a fight that changes many persons either for the better, or for the worse.
We are indeed looking forward to the new adventure.

And do have a great weekend.

You too bro.

😊Awwww. So sweet. I bet your wife really appreciates that. I'm sure you are very special to her as well. You da man. Lol

One of the special persons I am thinking of is my grandfather. He was always very kind to me, and sometimes when I was little he took me with him where he used to work. I remember the big halls of that school where there were kids with special needs. He was teaching there and I was glad to share some time with those kids or to receive chocolate from other teachers. I didn't have the age to go to school yet and I was looking forward to happening. When coming back from school with him, I always wanted more and more icecreams, and I was like a monkey in the circus, even biting his hands to let me have another icecream 😅 God...what a kid hahaha. Later on, he used to help me with my homework and to support me whenever it was necessary. So yes, I have a very special place in my heart for him.

This is a good choice. I miss my grandfather a lot and value all the times I spent with him in his workshop learning things and probably making a nuisance of myself. He was patient though, a cheeky bugger as well which is where I probably go it from.

It sounds like you have many great memories of your own grandfather too.

!ENGAGE 20

Yes, I do have very nice memories with him and I am glad that I still have him by my side, though he is almost 90 right now. It's nice to see that you also have such nice memories with him.

90 years and still going strong...Nice one grandpa! 🙂

Hello happy Sunday. Since Friday I was thinking about what comment to share with you, about that special person and I thought to talk about my parents, my daughter.... But looking for pictures, I found this very recent one.

![Screenshot_20210508-235408.png](
Here I am with my two cousin sisters, they are super important and special in my life.
We are contemporaries in age, and we have always shared and celebrated together.

We call ourselves "las conkas"... because of our cane buddies.... Hahaha

And we have a ritual that we created as teenagers.

Dancing the macarena the three of us at any time they play it hahahaha

So there we are now grown up and with children, celebrating life and dancing the macarena ....

So many moments and memories with my favorite people.... Thank you for this meeting.

Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

It's good to have a couple of las conkas around the place right? But macarena-dancing las conkas? Even better!

One person especially comes to mind when I think about someone that is special in my life. That would be my best friend Linda. We don't see each other super often, but it's one of those friendships where you don't have to because you can always just pick up where you left, no matter how much time has passed. We have been friends since high school and have since travelled together, helped each other move, organized a festival together and much much more. I will always remember when I lived on the other side of the country and I was quite lonely, it was a boring town and I didn't have that many friends there. I got a call in the evening that my grandfather had passed away and when I told Linda this she got on the train to see me immediately, no questions asked. I wish for everyone to have a friendship like that!

Aren't those easy, comfortable friendships like this so very valuable! I have a few, people with whom I've been through some very stressful and tragic times and whilst we don't see each other all the time we just pick up where we left off like you and Linda.

It sounds like she's a pretty special friend.

Thanks for stopping by the weekend-engagement topic this week...I believe your first time. Welcome, and have a great weekend.

Dear @galenkp and everyone in this community, have a wonderful weekend.

Talking about someone special, yes, of course, they are my family my only son and his family. I focus on loving and support them, whatever happened. They are the joy of my heart and my life. I prepared and preferred myself to be alone because of my only son.

inbound8948759684181413268.jpg
This is the only way, we satisfied our longing, through video calling. See how happy they are when we talk. I didn't see them for almost three years now. Social media helps us connecting each other. I love them, they are my special people.

And lately, I don't expect to be happy on the other side when someone special talk to me and I didn't know why I enjoyed our conversation. Nothing strength attached but I feel like being younger hahaha. It adds spices to my daily grinding, so inspired when he talked, when he chats I am so flattered. I don't want to give it an extra definition because I don't want to be a victim again. I have been hurt already and I don't want to have another heartache. Only time can tell if what tomorrow could bring but I am pretty sure, he became special to me lately aside from my own family.

Thank you @galenkp, once more here U am so confident telling something that I couldn't tell to anyone. hahaha. Extend my regards to your wife and his mother. I hope they are both okay with you. God bless as always.

A mother's son is definitely a special person, as is the mum too!

Thanks for sharing.

You are absolutely right, your son is the most special being that exists on earth. Besides being an invaluable support in your life, he is the one who gives you joy, love and maybe a tear or two.

Yeazzzz S P E C I A L , whats special in your eyes, the fact that one does life alone, or life with 5 kids, with the same gender, recovering or in illness?
I know that my special for one special lady is always the same and thats my MUM and for the rest its changing with age ( said the women who has age a year again and is heading to the big 5 in a few years ) The older you get, the harder it is to make new friends, they say, well not if you work online aswell. But many old friendships can also be watered down. Research shows that this is very normal: you go to college or you get a busy job, you move to another city and maybe you get into a relationship. These are all things that might cause any friendships you had to lose. But there really does seem to be an age when you are actually less likely to make new friends, friendship is like hiving and blogging it all needs work, to become OR stay something special.
So there are many that are, and when someone says you are thats something to cherish!
( note to self OWN IT , it was in the comments sooooo.........
happy weekend

Mum's are pretty special and so it's a good choice. I lost mine when she was 59 to cancer, quite tragically really, and so tomorrow, [mothers day here] will be a little odd as always. Still, just because a special person is gone it doesn't mean they cease being special.

So...You're a mum, far too young to be my own of course, but I think I might call you my special mum this weekend. Happy mothers day special mum.

And yeah, own it girl! :)

Grazie mille.

For me the most special people are my parents and my family, also my friends who support me, and don't forget our teachers who have introduced all letters, numbers and can write and read.
Those are the most special people to me @galenkp.
Thank you.

Umm, would you like to pick anyone of them and talk about that one?

Those two parents are the most important.

Is there just one that stands out?

Yeah.
My mother is the first.
Actually I can't tell them apart.
But my mother was the first.

Not surprising. Thanks for clarifying.

You're welcome, buddy.

Can I be my own special person? :P

Hahahaha 😂😂
The exact way I feel! I have a lot of special people in my life, but none of them measures up to me.

Hahaha perfect right!? :D

Yes.

Hey, did anybody notice how @galenkp didn't mention his own special person?😅

I noticed too! 😄 I thought he was going to talk about his wife or his lovely niece.

@galenkp, who is your special person(s)? 🤨😆

Any one who manages to tolerate me for longer than a day or so is special. :)

You don't need to, I'm doing a post on it.

Ok, that's cool

👍

You're my special person.
