in Weekend Experiences3 years ago

The end of the working week is here...Unless you work weekends. So, happy Friday y'all - We made it! I hope you have something great planned and the weekend rolls out nicely...Hopefully you'll find some time for the #weekend-engagement topic week 53 too.

On Monday I'll transfer hive to a few of you who engage below, just for your commenting. It's an easy concept - Just get engaged. It's not a competition, simply a chance to interact with a few other hivers over the weekend and to have fun with the community.

Weekend-engagement topic week 53

Describe yourself in only 20 words

In the comments below tell us about yourself using only 20 words. You could write a few phrases or simply 20 individual words as I have done below - But no more than 20 words. Feel free to drop an image on your comment also if you wish. original im src

I understand that it might be difficult to sum up yourself in only twenty words but give it a try - There's no right or wrong answer...Just your answer and it'll be cool for the community to learn some more about you and how you see yourself. I make these topics up to get y'all to have to think so get thinking and tell us about yourself in 20 words.

Read this bit so you know what to do. ⬆️

G-dog's 20 words

Simple. Driven. Protective. Diligent. Responsible. Dependable. Prepared. Funny. Confident. Aware. Loving. Serious. Edgy. Caring. Polite. Generous. Selective. Humble. Complicated. Knucklehead.

That's the topic for this week folks. You have until very late Sunday night your time to get your response into the comments below and I hope you'll engage this week, stay around and get friendly with some of the others who participate as it'll be good to see you around over the weekend. Have a great weekend whether you engage or not though.

Haha bit harder than I thought at first, but once I got rolling I wanted to go over the 20 word limit 🤣

 3 years ago (edited)

I try to angle the topics towards making people think a little - After all thinking is a good thing right?

Funny

I'm not surprised you said this as I reckon you'd be a bit of a joker based on our interactions. #nutbag 😁

Listener, coach

I like these two also as being an effective listener helps one be a better coach, and friend.

Lastly...

Calm

This is the meaning of my first name as it turns out so I can relate...Although, there's a time to be calm and a time not to be. The trick is knowing when. Or so it is with me.

Well done for having a go at it this week. I don't think many will but what the hell, you and I are here so it's all good!

!ENGAGE 20

I like the fact that you said there is a time to be calm and there is a time not to be.😅

Its one thing I've being trying to find w balance with in my life.

I guess one needs to judge a situation in isolation and act accordingly. Also calm could mean very different things right?

An officer on the battlefield, in combat, needs to display some calmness as his men will feed off his behaviour and demeanor, but there's a time not to be calm. A spectator at a soccer match might be vindicated for not showing calmness as his side plays to win - Excitement will enselue, not calm. The same might be said for a fellow whose lover has left him - It might be difficult to remain calm in that situation despite calm, rational thought being most required in that situation.

It's situational. Loosing ones cool often affects how one thinks so it needs to be approached cautiously. There's a time for it though, certainly.

Well, I couldn't have said it better. A good skill of discernment which translates to good judgment plays a key role in this instance. In all, it is situational as you've said.

One thing I like to tell myself is that, the first reaction isn't always the best, hence, thinking things through could go a long way.

In the end, it really all comes down to different factors,

how we perceive the situation,
Our mood,
Our general personality and all,

First reaction isn't always the best. I like that. A simple statement but so true and powerful to a person if they were to employ that ethos. ✅

that is an absolutely brilliant answer. i remember one time i was watching a football match with my parents in the living room, it was the knockout round match of Juventus vs Atletico Madrid. Juve where down by 2 goals in the first leg and they had to win this game 3 nil to qualify. if anyone was going to most likely step up for the Juve side, it could only be one man CR7. he got the first goal and i remember excitedly jumping up in joy. my father immediately rebuked me and said... is this all you live for?
looking back at it now, i realize how your response relates with that incident. That time, wasn't a time to remain calm, it was a time to be excited, especially for us fans of CR7

Thank you for saying so, and yes I agree, that moment was a good one to feel excited over. It shows passion and that's not a bad thing. I've done the same over sports and other things myself, although have applied calm also, at the right time and in the right measure.

I appreciate your comment.

I have you to thank

I probably look far to cool to be in this pic but what the hell.

Same thing Mee thinks every time I snap a selfie... lmao

Too sexy for my shirt self...

Or is this G-Dog out for a walkabout..?

i'd like to ask you about this.. knowing and understanding when not to be calm... how can one fashion anger and disorder within to become something useful?

This is a good question and one I'm probably not qualified to answer but...

In the military, in initial training, a certain aggressive demeanor is utilised to keep the recruits in a state of unrest at all times. There is nothing calm about it. The idea is to break down the civilian to a point before they can be rebuilt as military personnel. It is not done personally, to hurt or destroy the recruit, it's done to assist the transition and create an effective soldier and is the fastest way to do so.

So, maybe that's one case in which anger and disorder can be fabricated to create something positive?

In certain sports a coach may fashion anger and disorder to motivate also. Boxing, MMA, full-contact sports maybe.

Just a couple of possible situations I guess. I could be wrong, although on the first one I am not.

When not to be calm?

The loss of a loved one will destroy a calm demeanor, as will the production of adrenaline in the body, that's what adrenaline is all about - The fight of flight thing.

Calm on the battlefield can be an advantage with the leadership, just as being the opposite can with the enlisted, hence all the training soldiers go through.

One wants the JTAC to be calm when he's calling in precision air strikes in danger-close situations, they are trained for it, but a soldier in a firefight will not be calm, they will be amped and simply rely on training and muscle memory to perform their job.

So, I think there's cases where it can be an advantage. Clearly there's also cases when it would be of detriment. One must know and act accordingly...But many do not.

This is just my opinion. I'm no expert on the matter.

This is comprehensive in and of itself. thank you very very much. that illustration of the military recruits during training i think sums it up perfectly. i would say its also a similar mental experience with disciplining children. its hardship and disorder and discomfort used to break down in order to rebuild properly

A good example you use here, quite right I'd say.

I'm glad my answer made sense to you and thanks for making me think a little. 😁 11:30pm here Saturday night, but I got the thinking done. ✅

Holy.....
I'm sorry for putting you on the spot like that.. time works differently here in West Africa

That's right Australian time is 12 hours ahead of ours.. right now you are probably fast asleep as I type this..

Incomming!

I am that guy that operates best under nasty circumstances. When everybody else is in full panic, I flatten out and do what's necessary.

When to not be calm? I have used anger to make a point more times than I can think of. When I was coaching Jr. High football I once threw my clipboard down and screamed FUCK at the top of my lungs. Strictly against the rules and should have gotten me fired, but I had every lineman's full and complete attention for at least 10 minutes.

Nobody said a word about my indescretion :)

That's another thing to look at.. apparently it seems as though a show of chaos can get people to take you much more seriously.. Sometimes having a calm demeanor doesn't always get people's attention but a sudden burst of anger and everyone is alert and everyone is listening..
Human nature is a weird thing. And finding and controlling balance is.... Well.... Unpleasant

At the end of the day when it comes to interaction... Humans react to humans.. We've probably all dealt with these feelings so if someone displays a burst of anger we can probably relate to it and imagine or at least know that there must have been something causing it...

It won't always have the desired effect ofcourse but recognizing the emotion goes a long way..

Thanks thanks! Been a bit hectic this weekend but I'm glad I could add my 2 cents...

I like your analysis including the #nutbag.. I'll take it 😀😀😀

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Adventurous? Niceee! I like adventures too but not always.

It's cool to be funny. Most times, we take life too seriously. Some guffaws are healthy and we should have them more.

Ah, a gamer! What kind of game are we talking about? Xbox? Field games? Board games?

Listener. I like that. We have many talkers these days. Not everyone wants to listen, so we treasure our listeners! 😁

Haha I felt like that was the right place to start!
I get some good energy from new things and I have the tendency to do stuff I haven't done before or because the opportunity presents it's (my version of living in the moment)...

We're talking mostly ps4 as a way to blow off some steam after work... And believe it or not keep up with my social life (my cousin and I always have or convos over a game).. And right now it's been fifa and Rocket League 😀😀😀 for the most part.
I also enjoy board games but that's more of a family thing pre pandamic... How about you?

The word we use in cricket "all rounder" means who can do everything in cricket i.e batting, bowling and fielding. So, same word goes for you as well 😛

Haha thanks!
Which reminds me of the fact that I know far too little about cricket as a sports fan...
It's very much confusing to me and I heard something about 3 days for match???

The words you wrote are typical characteristics of a perfect human 😅

Tell us about your adventures. 😁

Is this comment related to the gamer girl?

Nope

Who then

Ahh aight...thank you for helping me out.. when I become president I'll give u 7 wives

Hahaha uhmmmm I'll take it as compliment!
But I did focus on the positive 😀...

Travel adventures mostly!
Oh and random things that come to mind, a few days ago I went on a night drive to go take some pictures of empty streets in the city.. It was around midnight so I got a few weird looks from anyone still awake...

I once climbed a mountain in Swaziland to get some sunset shots and we had to climb back down in darkness 😀...

Oh and I flew a drone off the coast on low battery.. I had to fight to get back to the beach against the wind and it just made it at 0% battery.. It shut off the second it landed... Hahah now that's some serious adventure for you right there 😂😂😂

Holy smokes.!!!! that is so Rad. 😅 I knew I won't be disappointed with your adventures. First off, you gotta show me or point me to the direction of where I can find those sunset pictures worth risking your neck for, I have no iota of doubt that they'd be worth it. Also the street photos.

Say, do you use your drone for photography or videos?

I like how you also put in your most important relations like son and brother!

wait till you see my response.. one sentence, enigmatic and precise.. that way one would never run out of words

That's of the funny thing about the exercise. Once you start it snowballs and you can't help trying to stop the momentum! Great list! It truly captures a lot of your personality or what we can see in the posts!

Thanks man! Much appreciated!

And yes, these topics are great.. Self assessments are needed from time to time!

Indeed. Once in a while we have to look inside to have a grasp of what's going on in ye ol' mindscape.

It was a little hard to come up with them!

I think I would agree to this by how I've interacted with you. Sounds right man! Cheers

Thanks!

Yeah it was, but it's a good self reflection exercise. Forces us to take a moment!

Cheers

That's a good list with a ton of really good attributes. I hadn't thought of brother, son, friend though I am. Good for you!

Thanks for going first!

Thanks! Yeah I listed those cause I feel it's a big part of who I am...
But same goes for you! 😀

A mí me costó un poco definirme en 20 palabras, pero las que coloque definitivamente expresan lo que soy, que bien que una vez que empezaste no podías parar

Simple carbon based life form with heart and soul, and spirit and mind to match.

Can't think of much else.

I was going to make a haiku about my description. You summarized it to perfection. I might give it a try here. Let me see:

Soaring leaf
surfing on winds-
goes or comes?

I'm a pretty simple person and like to keep life simple. You did good on the haiku.

Tried to keep it simple.

That's a really good haiku, but leaves out the 'craftsman' and all the good things that go with it...

That's because my entry is lost in this sea of comments. I didn't miss a detail around there. Good luck finding it!😜

You summed yourself up with five words to spare. Heart, soul, spirit and mind...Add a body and you're in business!

Thanks for getting involved this week. I think it might prove to be difficult for some however I hope a few have a try at it.

!ENGAGE 20

I got the important parts covered, the body is breaking down, the Heart, soul, spirit and mind are still run strong and deep.

Maybe time to get transplanted into a younger model. I've been thinking about it this week as I've been in the wars somewhat. I'll see if there's a two for one deal.

As long as there is no off switch, I would hate to have some of the troubles that Data had on Star Trek, and especially his the troubles Lore had.

Lol. well, I htink we'd be ok as long as we didn't attempt the transfer in South Africa where it seems loadshedding [programmed power outages] are common. Now to pick the body I want...

nice proposition perhaps i might interest you in an shot of netflix's altered carbon

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Nice one though I am sure you will sort other things as well by the time, may be some hidden talent in you 😉

He did you deduce this from those words?😅

I tried to deduce 😅

This went way over my head. 😅

Please help me out

I'm a fan of Star Trek. I first heard the term Carbon based life form on the episode that Q puts Picard on trial, also there was the episode with Data singing a little ditty about life forms, and then I have seen the term Simple Carbon based life form used in a lot of sci-fi books.

I like a simple life. I also believe we have both a soul and a spirit, that the two are not the same. I also believe the heart is governed by the soul, and the mind by the spirit. The soul stills the heart, the spirit stirs the mind to action when action is needed.

I might have to watch that part of star trek again

Well, you have successfully over complicated it but now, it makes more sense

well said 😃

That is the most apt witty and beautiful description i have read all day. its sad that even though all humans are supposed to be this, some people lose some of these pieces along the way

Thank you, I enjoy keeping my life simple, yet also not afraid to visit myself and other places.

Simple but to the point and I think accurate. I like your take on it!

All that and then some. Damn fine list my friend.

Crazy dreamer, artist, gamer, Super introvert, stubborn weirdo, who likes sweets and dogs but doesn't like religion, politics or rules. 😜

No rules and gamer, so are the wide open rpg games like Skyrim and Fallout some of your favorites?

The Witcher games, Dragon age origins, Mass effect 2, Mafia 1 and 2, Heroes of might and magic 3, Jade empire, Divinity original sin, Broken sword 1 and 2, The Longest Journey...

I tried skyrim but for some reason got bored quite quickly. Also some people dislike combat in Witcher games( especially Witcher 1) but I think that skyrim combat is much worse. And I never played fallout. Most of the time I prefer to fight with swords or magic and not guns... Mass effect and Mafia are exceptions to this rule. red dead redemption and cyberpunk 2077 could also be exceptions because they seem like awesome games but so far I have not played them.

I enjoyed/enjoy Dragon Age off and on still, and Mass Effect on occasion. I play a lot of Skyrim, but I wander around collecting stuff and with the house building I spend a lot of time trying to build and max them all. The one thing I don't like to much is the dark brotherhood story line, but at least there is an opt out for it now.

I don't have an issue so much with the combat system, it was hard on the PC but with the x-box not to bad.

I have seen some write ups on cyberpunk2077, they were early comments and most of them not to good so I have not looked again lately. I haven't tried any of the witcher games, I may take a look for them at our used game store before winter, that is when I play games the most.

Ah interesting, the first person that added in some things he doesn't like. Nice work.

I knew, if you answered today, that you'd put introvert but stubborn weirdo is interesting. I'd call myself a weirdo to some degree also to be honest and I can be stubborn too. Not altogether bad in the right situations. I stubbornly refuse to quit or give up on things that mean something to me which has helped me push forward and find success.

Anyway, speaking of religion and rules I just wrote a post for tomorrow outlining some posting tips for THE WEEKEND community and no religious preaching is a rule...So, whilst rules may be anathema to you I think that's one you'll be able to tolerate.

!ENGAGE 20

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

These words perfectly describes me, its crazy. Well except I'm not much of a dreamer but I do have targets 😁

Well some of my clones went missing recently so you probably one of them...😜

Best thing I've watched a week 🤣🤣. I even saw peter Griffin there, haha.

Can agree with you on politics and religion for sure! They are one in the same nowadays lol.

Seeing your game preferences, did you play ones like Diablo? That was one of my favorite series! Miss playing it but can’t game like that anymore lol

I did play same Diablo but I don't remember which one it was. It was quite fun. I think that dungeon siege 2 is similar. I liked it as well.

likes sweets and dogs but doesn't like religion, politics or rules. 😜

A kindred spirit if ever I've seen on. That was nicely stated...

Cheerful, honest, adventurer, friendly, trustworthy, resourceful, traveler, compassionate, reader, nature lover, loyal, gardener, generous, helpful, independent, considerate, prepared, cultured.

Cultured! Such a good one. Now I wish I'd added that to my list although it's not a full list so possibly I can just say it's there, behind the scenes. 🤓

It's interesting to read people's lists, especially those I've interacted with a lot...One gets the feeling that the list makes perfect sense, matches the person. It's how I feel with your list. It makes sense.

I like the addition of independent as I know you certainly are, something that so many can't claim in a society that breeds reliance on others over self-reliance.

A good list but I wonder, what would you say is your most valued trait, just from your list?

!ENGAGE 20

I hesitated about adding cultured on the end of the list. But it seemed to sum up the other things that I thought of adding, like loves Art Museums, Theater, history, classic literature and fine dining. It is definitely a word that fits for you.

The word that brings me the most pleasure is probably 'helpful' . It is the word that gives me a sense of purpose these days. I feel like I can be helpful by offering encouragement and answering questions for people who post in my communities.

It would be so difficult for me to select one word out of my own list! But you've done it quite well and I'd say it's a good choice. Helpful. It sounds very relevant to you. I think it's easy not to be helpful these days right? I mean being helpful requires some effort, not just physical effort but emotional as one must find the ability to want to be helpful before one can take the steps towards being helpful.

Cultured...Hmm, well I think some would say that of me, if they met me in real life. If one is, it shows I believe. I don't promote myself as such though, I just be me, and those who respond positively will see more than others.

Here on hive I tend to be a bit of a knucklehead, present myself as such...It's amusing for me. I am many things though, as you are, or anyone for that matter; Some good, some bad, depending on perspective. 😊

I definitely don't promote myself as cultured either. It just happened to be the only word I could think of to sum up some of my favorite activities. Can we squeeze F1 into the cultured category?

F1 watching is definitely cultured; It's beyond all doubt. (Provided snacks are involved of course.)

Helpful is definitely an excellent trait to think is one that defines you. I've certainly seen it in the communities that you're involved in anc appreciate it! Great list, gardening is a really fun one!

@cmplxty Thank you! I have not had a great day and you have no idea how much your words mean to me.

like loves Art Museums, Theater, history, classic literature and fine dining. It is definitely a word that fits for you.

All that and you live on a relatively quiet river? Pretty cool in my book.

I think my one word would be happy. I am.

Happy is a perfect word! I am, too.

Speaking of rivers, we need rain so badly. The river is down 4 feet from its usual level. It is very unusual for here, especially this early in the summer.

Ahhhhhh. That is sad. I live in a place that is so historically dry that we can never go past "USGS Moderate Drought" We are the only place in the south half of Arizona that isn't in "Extreme".

Like for example: The level of the Colorado at Hoover Dam is as low as it has ever been since the original filling in 1931. It's the largest impoundment in the US.

I'll have pictures in a couple of weeks. Where I take them will depend on how I head north but I already know that it will be gruesome.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Prologue: Since I didn't have to kick Sam's ass this morning he's probably given a fairly representative list:

Big Tough Hard Loyal Curious Self Contained Persistent Smart Witty Athletic Rider Outdoorsman Patient Slothful Glutton Grateful HAPPY

Epilogue: Since you didn't take care of the music this morning, I will. This is for the KrazyTrucker

it has been a long time since I heard any little feat, nice choice for his beer consumption. Slothful Glutton I like those traits, I think I have them to some extent, especially when it comes to pizza.

It's hard not to go over the top when it comes to a good pizza!

It occurs to me that it is really hard to identify as 'fat boy' without gluttony and sloth. It seems to work pretty well for me.

I listen to Little Feat on a regular basis, one of my all time favorite bands. I play "Dixie Chicken" live with teenagers Emmylou Harris and Bonnie Rait that You Tube offers it to me with regularity.

That's a pretty balanced list and I can imagine that it's quite representative of you for that reason; A bit of everything. I like the self contained one. Says a lot about a person. Some good traits Tom, thanks for sharing.

I'm not sure if you've gone over some of the responses but it's been really cool to see how people have opened up, showed honesty and not just listed good things. I wasn't sure how this topic would go but I've been pleasantly surprised at the reaction.

!ENGAGE 20

I've been sort of unexpectedly busy this weekend so I haven't gone through the entire list. I will, even if I have to do some on Monday. So far what I've seen has just been terrific!

And OH Yeah. I really like the hat in the new profile photo. Flat topped gambler suits you really well...@galenkp

Lol, thanks mate. Just showing my country side. 😊

I agree Tom, I was unsure how this topic would go but the folks seem to have embraced it, thought it over and come out blazing. 😁

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Ha, ha, ha. I wanted to read this one the other knucklehead not even second to the G-dog. This is one of those expressions about being a little rough but having your heart in the right place!

Thanks. I really do appreciate that.

You're welcome, @bigtom13. It was a nice entry on the topic!

When it comes to wit, I don't think anybody does it better than you Tom 😅

Sometimes I have a real hard time deciding if it's wit or 'smart ass' a trait lovingly given to me by my mother.

Lets take it as a mixture of wit and smartass, cos I gotta say, your comments are always so thoughtful.

👌🏽

Thank you. That makes my heart happy.

Persistent is a great one, especially if there's a evasive woman on the other side! Lol not in a creepy sense but I think you get it.

I liked that you ended it with happy, that's a great one I think a lot of people won't think of! I'm glad you're happy man!

Totally Sam's suggestion as we were out walking. I think the whole list combines to make me happy!

Ahahahahaha. I get exactly what you mean with the 'evasive woman'. I'm not good enough looking to have ever been first choice :)

Wow... I never realized how hard it can be to define oneself, hehe. One has to accept one's defects and virtues at the same time, and it's hard since sometimes we think too much or to little of ourselves.
This was very fun to do. Great topic, congratulations! How did you come up with it?

Sensitive. Lovely. Shy. Slow. Creative. Funny. Messy. Temperamental. Doubtful. Talented. Empathetic. Dreamy. Hyperactive. Annoying. Sincere. Supportive. Kind. Hopeful. Positive. Generous.

Hugs! 💜

I like these ones and it's really cool that you showed many sides to your character including the annoying parts like being annoying! 🤣

Temperamental huh? That's not one that most would admit to and it shows how comfortable you are with yourself that you can say it. So a big ✅ for you. It's often difficult to look inside oneself and define what you see right? I'm glad you had a try.

I made someone in the real world do this recently. She was feeling a lot of self-doubt and I wanted to see who she felt she was. She did the list and we talked about some things. A little while later, after she implemented a few strategies, I made her do it again and there was a different list. A better one. That's where the topic idea came from, more or less.

!ENGAGE 20

Hahaha, I know that I'm annoying and temperamental because my parents don't stop reminding me of it.
It is hard indeed, it took me half an hour to write those 20 words, (my dad says it took me half a day) hehe.

That's a very interesting story. I'm glad you came up with this idea!

Lol...

Certified annoying.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

I think we should all accept that we have good things even if saying them sounds a bit oversized. In the same way, accepting the bad can be a good exercise to improve it ❤️.

I agree with you!
Though for some people saying your good things may sound presumptuous, it isn't. It's actually nice for people to know what makes them special, what makes them themselves and it helps with self-confidence.
On the other hand, knowing your bad things is good too, that way you can improve them and become a better person.

Exactly my friend ❤️. We must have confidence in ourselves, that is the key to improve day by day 😀.

That is well stated. I like it a lot!

Thanks! 😁

Thank you ❤️.

That's a lot of words

I will take the hugs Thank you very much. 😊

Temperamental is a funny one! I don't know how many admit they are but I think it's good to know oneself and what we are. I like your mix of traits and I think I can agree to many based on our interactions!

Temperamental is a funny one!

Not for my parents, hahaha.

It is hard to admit one's bad things, but it's something my parents have been trying to teach me, since like that I can improve them.

Thank you, hahaha. Slow can be one of those? LOL

OMG. Only the 2nd woman I've ever heard of that could be slow and hyperactive at the same time.

The other was the no question love of my life.

Hahaha, yep, It's weird, but hey, now you know 2 of us 😂😁😎

Humble, Kind, Innocent, Straightforward, Down to earth, Energetic, Ambitious, Confident, Hard working, Fitness Enthusiastic, Nature Lover,Movie Lover, Foody, Introvert, Shy, Optimist, Practical, loving, Caring, silly and Stupid.

Hmm, a few more than 20 words here so I'm going to add two more because I feel it's appropriate: Can't count. 😁

It's all good though, there's no over-word-count penalty at all.

I'm trying to pick out the ones I like best but it's hard because they're all good. I think I'll choose straightforward, hard working and shy the most as I relate to those myself and if more than 20 words were permitted I'd have included them in my own list.

There's a reason I chose this topic this week - I've been thinking about a friend of mine, someone close to me, who has been doubting themselves. I asked the person to list all of the things they thought they were to try and get a read on where the person's head was at. It was an interesting exercise that seemed to help the person see themselves in a different way.

Anyway, thanks for joining in.

!ENGAGE 20

Very Thoughtful of you to come out with such topic. Yeah its very Brainstorming, looks very simple at first but when it comes to choose and select 20 words that's where real fun is. Thank you so much for always bringing such cool and innovative engagement topics.

Looking into oneself like this can be a little confronting and many I've asked this question to in person have been unable to come up with 20 things. It's sad really. I think a little reflective thought is good for all of us and so I try to make the topics a little interesting in that way, make people think. I promise next week will be easy! 😁

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

I like your "down to earth" bcs I am mostly up on sky lol

Haha silly and stupid 😅 your other qualities are enough to make these two look like nothing

With this listed words, I have a strong believe you would have no problem in life. 😅

Lets talk about the movies shall we.

I would not call problems but yeah life gives us various challenges and with little patience and endeavour we can achieve that.
I would love to talk about movies, what's your genre? I love adventure, sci-fi, action, animation, romance. Right now I am into webseries, just finished House of Cards, Wanda Vision, Looking forward to watch Loki this weekend. I am huge Marvel Fan😊

Agreed, patience is the key.

I'm also a marvel fan. I am contemplating watching Loki or not. I just saw the first season of resident Alien and I cant wait for the other.

It's important to be down to earth for sure! Lots of people are too cocky and stuff so it's good to know people who are relaxed.

There is a list I really like. I can feel the thought that went into it. Thank you for it.

Creative.Improving.Father.Husband.Funny.Sarcastic.Interesting.Silly.Active.Happy.Fortunate.Loving.Polite.Modest.Self-Deprecating.Appreciative.Caring.Curious.Reflective.Artistic.

Nice one by the way! I had to think hard for a Saturday, lol

Haha! Well, I wanted to make people think this week so seems it worked. 😊

Polite and modest. I like those ones...All of them really and just looking at you through your posts I'd say a pretty representative list for the true you. I really like silly also as I think we all should be sometimes. It seems I have the monopoly on it at times although the alternative isn't as nice or endearing so I'm ok with it.

Tell me what on that list means the most to you and why? I know, more thinking.

Don't worry, the topic for the coming week is easy...One I think you will enjoy too.

!ENGAGE 20

Hmmm...I'd go with loving. I came from a very closed family...my brother and I were taught to keep to ourselves, not speak to our emotions or feelings, and to always be guarded against others. I love my parents, but they were products of a different generation and parents. I still have tendencies to be closed and guarded, and it's taken some time to learn to show open affection to Hattie and Liza...it's a process for me. It's hard to unravel 40 years of learned behavior, but hey, I"m doing it! Plus, very worth it!

A nice answer sir, thank you.

You're a good chap you know, and it's to your credit how reflective you are and how open to change and growth. Nice work fella. Gold star for you. ⭐ (I don't hand these out often you know.) 😉

You're a champ.

Lol, well thank you! The stories I could tell you about my relatives...stuck and stubborn, with most drinking themselves to death or finding solace in addiction. It's not been easy for me to change, but I'm open to and I have honestly been trying very hard the past few years to make things better, you know? I do have to thank Liza too, to be fair. With so much damn stubborn Norwegian, German, and Irish in me, I needed a good friend in her to break open the mind and mindset.

You stubborn bugger, obey Liza, life will be so much easier!🤣

Seriously though, sometimes the situation a person finds themself in may cause them to perpetuate it although also as often a person learns from that situation and decides to make a change. You're in the latter category, through seeing that change was needed and by being open to it. Not always easy of course, but that's life sometimes.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

In a very orderly, alphabetical list (that is likely incomplete):

artist
foodie
idealistic realist
loyal friend
nerd
ocean lover
organized chaos
photographer
problem-solving
stargazer
wannabe blogger
windsurfer
workaholic/achiever

Happy weekend!

Ok, I'll award points for the alphabetically listed items. Well done there. I like the list but wonder, is there anything there you'd change/develop/reduce if you could and if so why?

!ENGAGE 20

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Having gotten as old as I am (a couple of years older than you), I am actually quite okay with the way I turned out. Meaning I do quite like or am behind all of those... 'attributes'.

If I could change something and hopefully I will in the not too distant future is changing the balance between some of them. Most specifically not spending quite as much time on being a workaholic/achiever. But it is hard because once I get my teeth into something, I am seeing it through with all that I have to give. I am an all-in or nothing kinda girl. Once I will be able to shift the balance, hopefully, the artist in me will have more time to play and I will be enjoying windsurfing on the ocean followed by stargazing on the beach.

For now, though I am mostly o.k. with how things are.

Oh, and, of course, turn the 'wannabe blogger' into a real blogger 😜

Alphabetical? Really? I'm going to have to give some grief about just laying them out.

Thanks for the list!

How would I describe me? Imagine being born with the mind of a scientist and the soul of an artist

That sounds like a good mix indeed, and the look? An Adonis? 🙂

!ENGAGE 20

😅An Adonis indeed... Perhaps a Nosferatu might be close 😅

Lol.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Just might implode one of this days

It's...... Bound to happen soon..you know me too well

cringe

Hope not

Ahhhhh! I know! Be a mechanic. You have to use the scientific method to find the problems and be an artist to make it work in a manner that ordinary people can look at.

I was an equipment mechanic for 30 years....

I envy you sir.. your work has trained you to see the world very differently from others.. I guess for you things are suppose to run in a systematic order.. I wonder how you deal with things when they are systematic in nature 😁

In my business those are generally called 'intermittent' problems. Means simply that it is the base layer that's at fault and you often have to get lucky or have the thing fail entirely. I was always pretty lucky with systemic problems.

🤣🤣🤣🤣that is so good to know..like the solution is simpy get lucky or replace the whole system... Engineering is really well suited for men 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Damn this ones a hard one! Let’s see if I can do it..

Inquisitive. Eager. Handyman. Fisher. Snowboarder. Biker. Gearhead. Curious. Kind. Trustworthy. Goofy. Outdoorsman. Crafty. Comical. Loving. Professional. Picky. Aloof. Witty. Relaxed.

Damn this is a hard one then be aces it. Lol.

Good list bro, but I expected in it would be. Goofy, that's the best one. ✅

Seriously, all good man, balanced and suitably hands-on oriented. Nice work.

Tell me though, which are your top three most valued traits from this list and why? Yep, another had question. 😉

!ENGAGE 20

That was another hard one. Thinking is good to do for sure! Gets you to think on your toes with these, what I love about these topics man.

Top 3 I would have to say
Curious
Relaxed
Loving

We all need to be curious in life because it’s what keeps us from falling into a pit of laziness and vanilla that many live in. It’s their prerogative but I think you are more easily manipulated if you are in the same stuff all the time without being curious. Plus being curious leads one to explore new paths, learn things and gain confidence in oneself and abilities. I love being curious about things; taking apart, exploring, learning, refining. They are all things that I try to do constantly. I like to be well rounded with many things than sharp and precise with few.

Loving is an important trait to have for those of us around us that deserve it. This is important to have in order to keep oneself sane and with healthy relationships, be it lovers, friends or family. That doesn’t mean foolish though, burn the bridge and there’s no repairs in my opinion! Lol

Relaxed is one thing I try to be as often as I can. Lately it’s not working as well but Siena always poked fun at me that I was too relaxed and wasn’t built for the area we live in because I’m always slow, puttering and wandering around on my own time. It’s helped keep things sane and slow instead of fast and chaotic! I’ve not been able to be as relaxed of late but I’m trying to get back to that state of mind for sure.

With your 20, what’s your second most important one? Most important is okay but what’s the runner up?

OK, now I know you're a legit dude because of your answers here @cmplxty. I really like how you think man, that you think. You're honest with yourself and that is mirrored outwardly. A good role model for E-dog bro. Nice work.

With your 20, what’s your second most important one? Most important is okay but what’s the runner up?

Hey, fuck you...I ask the questions around here bro. (Just kidding.)
Asking fucking hard questions now huh?

Ok, I'm going to answer with generous as my second most important one. On the surface this looks like I'm generous as in charitable but it goes much deeper than that for me in truth.

I am generous of myself; Giving. This means with time, understanding, patience, physically and emotionally. I give a lot to people deemed worthy, those I love for sure, and those I'm responsible for. I've been known to give at my own expense, to put myself at risk physically, emotionally and financially, for others and to me that feels right. I'm no saint though, not everyone will see my generosity, the person must be worthy, deserve that generosity for whatever reason.

Who do I mean? My loved ones for sure. The weak, those unable to stand alone, those being needlessly victimised by those stronger or more powerful. I'm not a huge fan of injustice mate and I can do bad things to balance things out. (This may not make sense to you - Over a beer I'll tell you about it.)

I'm also generous in the way that I will accept emotional pain and turmoil so that someone I love doesn't need to or to lessen their suffering. For those special people, so very few, there's not much of myself I would not give.

I'd rather leave it here if that's ok my bro, I think you get the idea.

Yeah for sure man I get you on that. We can only be generous to those deemed worthy when it takes that much effort, emotionally, physically or otherwise. If the folks aren’t worthy of it they won’t get to see the limits of the generosity. I like that! I used to bend over backwards for some of my good friends and they ended up taking advantage of that, particularly when it came time for me asking them for a little help nobody was around. I stopped bothering at that point but it’s unfortunate that people are so short sighted.

I try to be as good a role model for the little man as I can be. There are days that have challenges for sure but I’m trying to be the best person I can be for him. He deserves that at least! Some of the things like the curiosity and loving he goes above and beyond with so those are good signs for us that if we keep him on this path he should turn out alright.

He'll turn out ok I reckon mate, you'll see to it and give him the best start.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Ohhhhhhh. Nicely done. That's a serious good list.

I like that you ended it with relaxed. I think if you are relaxed the rest will come.

Well it starts with a Y which is sometimes a vowel, there's that. Two syllables, that too. Opposite of their, him, her etcetera.

Too early in the morning to decipher complex cryptic riddles. Lol.

Touché. I probably shouldn't come up with them so early.

"Yourself." In 20 words. Happy Friday sir.

I'm on some pain killers too, slowing me down and with my pre-existing knuckleheadiness that means slow!

Oh shit. That's just badass.

Nicely done.

Glad you caught that Tom.

Not much riding this time of year Eh? Ooooh weee.

I think you will understand this: I'm pissed at the Connie (or the fuck up that worked on her) and don't want to ride my camping mule in the heat.

So I have an easy answer: I'm going to buy a Goldwing in the fall. I'll be 70 in a month, I'm pretty sure that's old enough to own a 'wing.

For sure!

If I'm not mistaken, you procrastinated about 7n1/3 years. 😉

Ah fuck, always with the riddles 😬😬😬😬

Went over my head 🤣

Hey Weekend friends, gotta tell you, me in 20 words?

Tired, sore, a lil too involved, hopeful that all is for a reason and other than that I'm just...me. 😇

Wish you all a great weekend 😃

Twenty words exactly. A gold star for you Anna! 🍉

Oh fuck, that's a slice of watermelon. Oh well, you get the point! 😁

I hope the renovation work is going ok and thanks for taking time out to comment here.

!ENGAGE 20

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

I'll take the watermelon!!!!! 😄

The renovation is going ok it's just that my second man is leaving on Monday and then I'm alone with Vicky, the owner. She is not so much of a construction site type of person 😉. So how the next weeks will be like....nooooo idea. I have to write a little bit about it, but when I get home I can barely move my arms anymore lol. It's hard labor I'm telling you ;).

@galenkp I think this response was meant for you not misterengagement 😅

Oh, my. This got more intimate than expected! Reads quick and it's full of passion.

Have a great weekend! 😄

Haha I'm always up for a surprise 😄 . I hope you have a great weekend too. 😊

Even though these words a driving to "the south", this are actually the most exciting times of your life. I can attest to that 😅

Hehehe most exciting maybe not, most physical demanding I would say. I started helping out 2 weeks ago and found myself being their best shot when it comes to the renovation. I'm the one to call if you wanna build/renovate a house 😂.

Seeeeeee😅.

Maybe exciting is not tge term but I'm pretty sure you're enjoying the activity.

Lol, I do in a way. What are you up too?

Same As you. That's Why I kinda understand those words, haha. Currently, there are way more responsibilities for me than usual and its kinda what I wanted. I now work/serve in a library for a Seminary in my country.

Lots of tales to tell in coming days for sure.
:)

Uhhh library sounds interesting.

Yeah me just helping a little bit turned out to be me renovating the house lol. And what I thought to be cool stories to write about turned out to be the killer when it comes to writing it down. Having a hard time getting all my thoughts together.

All is certainly for a reason but sometimes we don't know the reason for quite some time!

A nice bubble bath should take care of those sore muscles! Works for my wife all the time lol

Lol I can take a bubble shower 😂 . I'm using arnica ointment meanwhile, works miracles. I thought I'd help out a little bit, not that I'm renovating a house...things change lol.

Nice the stuff helps for sure! I have two tubes of it about 10 feet from me right now lol good choice!

I know, not having a tub is tough sometimes! That’s one requirement Siena has when we go places or when we look for a house to buy lol. No tub no dice!

I'm not so much a bath type but when it comes to regenerate a lil it would be nice to have one. I could use one now to drown me because I just realized my car is broken. I started driving and suddenly I couldn't shift any gear anymore. The clutch is done I think. With a lot of hassle I made it back home. So next week the old car issue is up again 😖 .

Ugh shit that’s brutal! Sorry, I hate a batch of bad luck. Hopefully it stays to just being that and you turn over a new leaf with some good luck!

It's the stars lately lol. Blame it on astrology 😂 . A lot seems to break right now, all over. In a year I might be able to tell you what it's all good for 🤣 .

It won't do your transmission any good, but if the clutch is that far gone you can start it in gear if need be then kick the car into neutral when it's time to brake. A friend of mine told me it would work for a while...

Maybe your Vicki is a 'garage sort of person'?

I'm driving a manual here in Germany. I started driving in 1st gear and wanted to shift to 2nd when I realized nothing is happening. Trying to get it in neutral wasn't working either. The entire clutch/shifter seemed frozen. I turned the car off after a while and tried to get a gear in. After minutes I managed to get the reverse gear and drove up a hill. Then turned the engine off again to shift in 1st and save my ass home. I think I screwed everything up today 😂. Just glad I was close to home when it happened and not with 80miles on the Autobahn lol.

From my perspective "just...me" looks like a pretty good place to be. I admire that you are in over your head and enjoying it.

I just helped a 'not a construction site person' (he's a college professor) build a shed. For the most part I kept completely quiet unless he/we were getting ready to make a huge mistake. We got the shed up and he's still a friend so I guess it's all good :)

Lol glad your friendship survived the shed 😄.

Knucklehead? 🤭😂

Hiiiii @galenkp! This is hard, really. Alright here it goes...

Sensitive, empathic (most times), caring (to a fault), a voracious reader, storyteller (I spin terrible tales), always enthusiastic, multitasker, introvert, hardworker (but can be lazy sometimes), positive thinker, calm, realist and down-to-earth.

Yep, knucklehead. Definitely.

Story teller huh? Bad story teller. This could be funny. I know a guy who is also bad at telling stories...He always get's sidetracked and the stories tend to go for so long, and are very boring. Anyway, hopefully yours are better than that. Being down to earth is a good trait to have I think, as is being caring.

Please tell me, what, out of the list above, would you say you like about your personality the most, and why?

!ENGAGE 20

Hahaha! This guy sounds like me... I like to tell stories and try to make it fun. If brother is present when I'm telling it, he would be like -

That's when I know my stories are getting out of hand and I wrap it up! 😂😂 Cheeky guy!

... what, out of the list above, would you say you like about your personality the most, and why?

Well, I enjoy being positive and empathic because it keeps me grounded. A lot of sad things are happening all around us, so I try to see the good side. Placing myself in other's shoe sort of helps me understand people better and help if I can.

A nice answer! It's nice to show some empathy especially in the current times were facing.

Also, I'd probably be like your brother and make the same face when your stories get out of control. 🙂

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Down to earth in the end 👍 like cherry on the top

Went past the 20 words mark 😏

Positive, self-determined, love life, not swayed by others opinions , love nature , gardening, poetry, photography, art, craft, pets, tranquility and peace.
That's me!

Not swayed by others opinions...That's a good one! So many people allow others to set their course or take on ideology that doesn't really align with their core values. Laziness? Lack of care factor? I don't know. It's good to see an independent thinker though. Nice work!

Is there anything not on your list that you would like to be there?

!ENGAGE 20

I live my life on my own terms and enjoy every moment. I cherish and respect my freedom. I believe life is beautiful and it's all about perspective.
Yeah those would be a few other things I'd like to say about me.
It's has taken me a while to write this tough.. had to put in some thinking.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Okay G-Dog busy, busy and on African Time!

Late to your party on #weekend-engagement not enough time for this one sadly....

Loyal, stubborn, perfectionist to a degree, loving, skeptical, traveler, bush life, photographer, listen to music... distrusting till eye to eye or similar connection is made,

10 down x10 to go!

Teach by example, thorough, chef, bottle washer, dog walker, dog whisperer, bird lover, wildlife, matured somewhat like an old wine still got a kick, last but not least love life!

Have an awesome new week, remember we all have kinks and bends, nothing is perfect in humans 😄

I figured load-shedding robbed you of power. Lol.

Distrusting till eye to eye or similar connection is made

This one stood out initially. I am the same - I can't bring myself to trust people easily but, of course, there's reasons for that.

love life!

This one should be a given for all people really.

matured somewhat like an old wine still got a kick

Gold!

Thanks for taking the time to respond this week. I've been really happy with how people have responded; Thoughtful and reflective mostly. I wasn't sure how this topic would go but it seems to have been a good one.

!ENGAGE 20

Yup funny how quickly one can assess a situation in real life, either you connect, or the hair stands up on the back of your neck and you move on....

Time runs quickly, enjoy life, not always pertaining to a love life or emotional baggage, life itself!

Funny, quick to anger, good listener, talkative, humble most times, beautiful, stubborn, introverted, always excited, foodie, not photogenic, boss lady

A nice set of personality traits here...Boss lady and quick to anger? A scary combination I'm sure, although nicely balanced by good listener and funny.

I'm interested in the not photogenic one though....Beautiful but not photogenic? I think you're being modest here. Whatever you look like is what you look like, own it and be happy. Besides, beauty comes from within a person, starts on the inside and works its way out.

Thanks for joining in this week Ms. Talkative and Stubborn! It's much appreciated. 😀

!ENGAGE 20

Lols... I guess because of my lack of love of always standing for photography whenever my friends ask me to.

Yeah, the boss lady and quick to anger is scary but managed most times to avoid people running away from me 😉😂

Yeah, I can be talkative when I wish to be but can be so stubborn when not in the mood, and funny enough, I have proved how stubborn I can be a few minutes ago. I can be so nice and loving if I wish to and can decide to portray my stubborn side when I see one trying to molest, intimidate, or harass me.

My traits are quite balanced for my kinda person because I love to keep people in suspense about what kinda person I am and it helps me limit how people harass me because of my introverted side that people get to see first when they come in contact with me at first hand.

Thank you for your comment.

It's good to know who we are, to understand our strengths and weaknesses...We should all self-reflect a little more I think.

Yeah, you are indeed right

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Thank you 🙇

Ops, I had forgotten to write my participation. Well it's not easy also because honestly I don't often think about defining the Kita Personality. For this reason I thank you because I took some time to find the right words. okay everything I just wrote does not count in the twenty words 😁

Respectful, parsimonious, generous, open mentality,
collaborative, nice, anxious, forward-looking, friendly, medium-called sociable, diligent, greedy, messy, playful, good dad and husband, traveler

That's an honest list right there! Parsimonious. Way to own it! There's nothing wrong with being frugal and in the current situation and society in which we live it seems quite sensible. I like diligent as that's something I am also!

You're like all of us, a jumble of things that somehow work together and I'm sure you're sometimes your best and sometimes your worst...Again, like most of us. I don't trust people who say they're always their best...They're liars. No, we're all a bunch of things that come together throughout life, ebb and flow and define what and who we are, and we're all flawed and fallible; That comes with being human.

Great list and thank you for joining in!

!ENGAGE 20

thank you :)

I forgot to include in the self-deprecating list, which is among the most beautiful things for themselves and most loved by others.

For example, I definitely have aesthetic defects like a little belly, thin hair, a little big head but when I'm the first to ridicule my flaws, the people around me laugh a lot, and I along with them.

Self-irony really helps a lot to accept yourself and to be accepted by others. A truly powerful weapon!

when I'm the first to ridicule my flaws, the people around me laugh a lot, and I along with them.

The ability to feel comfortable laughing at oneself, and to have others do so, is a strength my friend and it takes a man of character to be able to do so. Well done. (Man or woman of course...Don't want to appear sexist now do I?) Lol.

Thanks for the addendum, a valuable trait you have here, may you never lose it.

Thank you for your nice words, the irony of oneself should be a subject of study for schools.

If kids understood how much fun it is to laugh at themselves, I am convinced that the world would improve in a very short time 😊

I couldn't agree with you more. Expertly said!

Mother

Nurse

Sincerity
Solidarity
curious
Nobility
Artist in training
I love cats dogs

Cake coffee lover

I like how a lot of these have to do with caring for others: like nurse, mother and animals

Sincerity and solidarity...Nice ones indeed and I also like curious. It's a way we should all be I think.

The best was left to last also I think...Cake and coffee lover.

A good list and one I think you are very clear about. A nice way to be.

Only a few people on earth love cats as much as they love dogs 😅.

So you're amongst the super hero's who don't wear capes

I'm a Talkative Driven Impatient Enthusiastic Extrover Teacher
With A Bit of a Temper but a Big Heart

Mymymy that was hard! As a history teacher I love telling long winded stories haha, but it was a good exercise to try and bring it back to the essence: some good some bad but this is me!

Extrovert teacher I think are some of the best teachers, who wants prim and proper when it comes to learning history, give me down and dirty in the dirt any day. I liked the teachers that could make you feel like you were there watching from the sidelines or right there in the middle of the fray.

Haha yeah it kind of comes with the job I think and definitely one of the reasons why I wanted to be a history teacher. Quietly working in research was not for me haha

There's nothing wrong with a temper if used in the right way. It shows passion actually, and character. Anyway, a nice concise list from someone who, it seems, can be verbose at times?

I made it 20 words to force people into thinking about what was truly important to them, to think about what made them, them. It seemed to work. It's difficult to encapsulate oneself in so few words but people have been doing so well. Yourself included. I like the honesty many are showing, not just saying the good stuff.

I love history so wouldn't mind listening to your long stories I think. 🙂

!ENGAGE 20

Thanks! Yes I am definitely verbose haha, really made talking my profession. I have been thinking lately of finding a place on hives to put some nice history stories. Something to put some more thought into!

I love history and have done many historical posts. The hard thing is working out where to put them. I guess just find one that matches it as best you can or not use one at all. I post war history in here: https://peakd.com/c/hive-139358/created, a firearms/military/outdoors community of my own creation but for the rest I generally just try and find the most suited or none at all. Good luck.

Yeah the tricky thing has been to think of where to put it. Maybe if I grow my own followers a bit first and until then find some other places were a specific topic would fit. Thanks for the tip!

I eagerly await some history posts from you and good luck finding some appropriate places for the posts.

Hi @Plint! I see you are a story teller, just like me. 😀 Very candid. Most times, we put forward only our best qualities and hide the unpleasant ones.

I get how 'impatient' can be alongeside 'a bit of a temper' because we need things to done fast and efficiently. I am this way sometimes.

Yeah I can get carried away sometimes with efficiency, I have definitely learned to be more patient as a teacher, though I will always stay impatient I think haha. Thanks for your reply!

I'd love to hear those stories if you ever wanna get into it. for some reason this days, history excites me a lot

Thanks! Yeah this gets me thinking I will work out what the best way to do it will be!

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Well, believe me, I spent a long time thinking but I think these are the ones that define me the most

Enterprising, impulsive, curious, friendly, sincere, genuine, dreamer, thinker, intrepid, funny, different, thoughtful, reliable, hyperactive, hard-working, gamer, musician, reader, agile, learner.

...believe me, I spent a long time thinking

Then my plan worked! 😂

Intrepid! I really like this one as it's not one a person would often say. Very nice. Also agile. I used to be able to say that but you know, getting old...It doesn't help agility. Live it up whilst you can mate.

I hope you enjoyed thinking about who you are Gabriel, that was my intention, to make people think about themselves and see that they are a lot more than a few little things on the surface. We're all a lot deeper than that. Thanks for joining in.

!ENGAGE 20

Nothing that practice can do again, a little hiking and you become agile again! Hahaha just kidding. The truth is that intrepid was a word that I wanted to capture but I did not remember it, it is certainly something fundamental in all of us to do things and leave us of fears. I really enjoyed it, sometimes we don't stop to think about that, we are many things and it is important to identify what defines us.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Strong, independent, wild, young in mind, upon the sky, caring, smiley, enthusiastic, emotional, semi-introvert (exit ?) humble, shy & slow in decisions.

Haha I like being semi introvert 😅 I guess you mean on few occasions right?

yes, I thought this word doesn't exist ;)))

You can use " ambivert" semi introvert doesn't exist 😛

A good mix of personality traits here. Wild, humble and caring is a nice mix and shy is not something I expected. We are all a mixture of many elements though, and allow various people to see some, but maybe not all.

I wonder, is there a personality trait you have that you wish you did not and if so what is it and why?

!ENGAGE 20

Shy only happened when I am "semi-introvert" ;)
Hmm, slow in decisions which made me lost the way and regretted sometimes. I really don't like this feeling and want to change that. I must balance my will and way to change it 😅

I think as we move through life we change somewhat and some things become more or less important; We adapt to the happenings and surroundings we are exposed to and some of our traits change accordingly.

yes, you are right. you've helped me realize a lot thanks to this topic. Thank you 🍵

Wild and slow in decisions is a very good and useful combo of traits to have, helps to contoll the overly wildness, yet the wildness does not let the decisions have a ton of say in actions.

Thank you @bashadow. I will take it as a compliment 🍵

It was intended as such, I doubt you are one to make rash decisions since you think about them.

Slow in decisions defines me hahahahaha.

Really? Haha cheers 🥂

I didn't know there is a thing as semi-introvert 😅. I think with the experience and your travels, I think you're evolving already

haha, new words that I learnt and define myself ;)

Love It 😊

This is a tough one. Looks like the kind of exercise from job interviews where you need to write about yourself. Of course, there you tend to have 100 words. 20 makes it so you need to think it through and quit the jabbering. Let's see if I can do it:

Curious. Smart. Stubborn. Cranky. Friendly. Alert. Creative. Trustworthy. Responsible. Finnicky. Polite. Confident. Dreamer. Melancholic. Playful. Serious. Crafty. Food-loving. Grateful. Flawed.

Sometimes no jabbering is nice, and I purposely made it 20 to make people have to think. 😁

So, you did a good job I think, a good mix of personality traits and it was good to see some outright honesty. Flawed. Cranky.

I like your combination indeed and I'm not at all surprised to see a nicely balanced group of words. Well done.

!ENGAGE 20

So, you did a good job I think, a good mix of personality traits and it was good to see some outright honesty. Flawed. Cranky.

I think our flaws are the things that end up defining a lot of our struggles and behavior. We all want to be paragons of morality and good ways and things done, but we can only do so much and well, that's it.

It was an interesting exercise, specially, because I woke up just to come to the engagement and found this task. You threw me back into high school's final exams. 🤣 My groggy self trying to get the thing done and don't look back. Talk about a throw back.

I like your combination indeed and I'm not at all surprised to see a nicely balanced group of words. Well done.

I tried to do it in another way, but I remember you're not too fond of me going into poetic license mode. 😝

Haha, you and your poetic comments. Yeah, unique to say the least! 😁

I'm glad you had a try at the topic this week and it made you think a little. I promise that the next topic will be easy! I've already written it actually and it's pretty straightforward.

Ha. ha. ha. Sorry not sorry (?)

If it is interesting there will be no problem. 😄

Might not be interesting...You'll have to wait and see.

We'll see next week!

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Great to see you here Bert. 😃

Imagine you didn't put the crafty part into it. You're the cuatro king. All hail the king

Ha, ha, ha. Don't imagine much. Besides, cuatro king is definitely a stretch. More like a peasant at this stage. 🤣

Greetings :D

Wish I was as "kewl" as @ kingscrown then I could downvote one of thee best Hive has to offer...

But now...

19 words. Due to the fact I just realized a guy named Jack, may be as Ass...

But I am a "Jackass."

Dedicated, Ambitious, Loyal, Mischievous, Prankster, Pessemist, Realist, Patriot, Survivalist, Spontaneous, Creative...

(creative license pause to regroup and take a mental breath)

Ethologist, Behaviouralist, (cat related) Professional,
Freightologist, Relocator, Transporter, Farmer, Husband, Jackass...

How about a "Stick Figure Drawing" next week Sir @galenkp Galen..?

This one litterally fried my idiot savant brain!

untitled.gif

Haha, yeah this topic was a bit brain-frying I'll admit. Maybe something far more easy for the coming week? I've actually already written it to be honest and it should prove to be much easier. (I promise).

Freightologist,

This is a good one...I really like it when make up words!

I like all of yours though and I think I know you enough through hive to say that it seems a most fitting list to describe you. Of course we are so much more than 20 words could every describe, but it's a good start.

Thanks for getting involved again.

!ENGAGE 20

No dictionary definition.

Freightology.com

Shit ton of organizations using it...

Who would think that 20 words would be this much of a challenge?

untitled.gif

The topic was not to too bad this week huh? I didn't think people would get into it as when one starts to think about 20 words to describe oneself it is soon discovered that it's not all that easy for most. Everyone did really well.

This week will be easier.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Well, this is more difficult than the questions I was asked in the last job interview I had: what are your weaknesses and strengths? It seems so obvious but at the time I didn't know what to answer. I guess we need to define ourselves a bit from time to time.

Regarding 20 words that represent me, I think they could be:

-nice-cheerful-persistent-responsable-patient-energetic-enthusiastic-creative-adventuress-money saving-problem solver-positive-ordered-strong-logic-proactive-curious-coquette-concerned-unpunctual.

Well I think I was just flattering myself, something bad I had to mention 😂.

This is a legit and well thought-out list of things! There's a few I like: Ordered, proactive and curious.

There's one that I'll applaud you for saying, the honesty, but drives me bonkers: Unpunctual. 😂

And there's one that made me laugh: Coquette.

Clearly it means to be flirtatious but did you also know it's a South American hummingbird? I'm going to assume you meant the former, flirtatious, as I imagine you not be be green with a reddish crest.

image.png

!ENGAGE 20

Oh no, I clearly meant the hummingbird.

Hahahahaha didn't know about it 😂.

Yeah yeah, "meant the hummingbird!"

Coquette. Own it.

This is me:

Calm, funny, sociable, friendly, thoughtful, in love, sporty, musical, sketcher, adventurous, independent, friendly, creative, simple, nonconformist, forgetful, dreamer, listener, relaxed, conqueror.

This is a nice balance of personality traits but I like the last the best!

I wonder though, with this list is there any aspect that you feel you would like to develop further or are you completely happy with them (you) as you are?

!ENGAGE 20

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Animal lover, Art enthusiast, Modest, Spirituality, Freedom, Comfortable, Easily bored, Emotive, Still searching for myself, Music for my moods, Perfectionist.

Still searching for myself and music for my moods

These are great things to have within one's personality traits. I htink it's best to consistently search for oneself as we are constantly changing through external forces and from within also. And the music? What's life without music.

I used to be a perfectionist but thankfully was able to rid myself of that habit - The moment I realised that perfection simply does not exist was the moment my life opened up to me and a gazillion opportunities. I replaced it with a drive towards continuous improvement and so I do, continuously improve.

Thanks for answering the topic question this week, possibly a tough one for some, but you seem to have got it all sorted. Next week will be easier, I promise.

!ENGAGE 20

It's great you've conquered your perfectionist drives. I have also diminished them but I feel it remains work to do here - treating perfectionism with perfect actions hahaha. I admit perfection doesn't exist but I still have moments when I don't feel good if I am not picky with things. I will continuously improve as well 😁

It's a difficult thing to eliminate - I used a psychologist that specialised in this area, my employer paid for it and I have to say my business thrived once I let go of that perfectionist-ethos. I felt I was free, unfettered.

Don't mistake my loss of perfectionism for me accepting poor performance though, that is not the case. The drive towards my personal best, continual improvement, is relentless. The difference is I don't beat myself up over not attaining perfection as I never seek it. I still get disheartened when I don't perform at my peak, or achieve a personal best result, but it's easier to deal with, reset and push forward with the intel I gathered through the "failure.' You know?

It seems you're on the right track and I feel I am also. So it's all positive.

That's great you approached a psychologist through your job. It can be a great help at times. I am very aware of their practice because I am one of them haha Funny, right? 😁 Anyway, I am more on the research part of things. I also feel I am on the right track but as any human being sometimes you struggle a bit and you have to continuously work with yourself.

I know the feeling of being disheartened when you don't perform at your peak. I was that kid that performed well on all the exams in school, faculty and so on and it did happen sometimes to not achieve a good result and it was quite surprising and demoralizing for me. But yes, the idea of performing better next time, learning from it and the understanding that it is fine you didn't score high that time is a good starting point in my opinion. And yes, let's enjoy the positive part and not demanding perfection from us and others. Cheers for it! 🙂

And a quote on the topic that inspires me:

source

I am very aware of their practice because I am one

You probably have me all worked out huh? Probably not though, I'm a conundrum. 😁

That's a good quote from a pretty good movie. It's so true in a world where people attach their feeling of self-worth on material things. Thanks for sharing it.

You do like being a conundrum, huh? 🙂 I didn't figure it out and I keep coming every weekend to investigate you 😅

Yes, I also like the quote which is relevant indeed for our world today. It crossed my path while writing to you.

A good thing you added honest to your list as it seems you're quite candid with some of your personality traits: Vain, selfish and lazy.

Still, it's ok to care about ones appearance, to selfishly care for ones wellbeing and take time to be lazy sometimes which can help one relax. So, well done for listing those ones that, if we're all honest, we've all done from time to time.

Could you isolate one thing here on your list that you would like to develop more and why?

!ENGAGE 20

Yes there are few things I would love to work on them and develop. One of them is hard working, though I am trying but yet efforts needed to be made to make things easy. Other thing is flexibility, so far this quality has developed recently and I would love to be more flexible so that I can adopt new things.
Being tidy also as we all want to get our ducks in a row 😅.
For now I would work on them because cope all things simultaneously would lead me to nowhere.

That's a few things worthy of some development I'd say. I'm one who tends to work hard at the things that are important and promote a reward for effort ethos over a handout ethos so well done on that one.

It seems like you're on track as you can at least identify the aspects you'd like to develop more. Good work.

Thank you for compliment hope things will get easy by the time. 😊

Self aware and Simplicity lover, that's grabbed my attention. Addictive to What? 😜

Haha thanx 😁, addictive to something good 😍 like food, sports or anything which entertain you or which give you benefits

Interesting qualities. How are you shy but also chatty?

Hehe, adventure lover... I love adventures too!

Shy when it comes to talk with someone spacial 😁 but with friends I am chatty

Lol. I'm actually comfortable being an introvert but depending on the circumstance or the group dynamic I play to the role of an extrovert but only out of necessity.

A humans behaviour is generally situational, changes depending on many factors.

Lol. I'm definitely human then.

Oh what a lovely list of your personality traits! There's some really nice ones here like honest, fair and loyal. I like the merciful one, something I've not showed in the past at times.

Do you think this list would the same if you family wrote it about you and what aspects might look different?

!ENGAGE 20

As you said, I want the aspects involved there to be fair and loyal, maybe this is the main lesson that must be carried out in daily life, therefore I also think fair and loyal things are common people hope, without loyalty and justice we all cannot live in peace.

Hmm, yeah I tend to agree, but then again, there's not much peace in the world these days.

Yes, the issue of peace in the world may be difficult right now but I mean just and faithful peace is the person of the people around us.

I think the only peace we can truly rely on is inner peace. I seek it daily.

Yes, I agree with your opinion, and that's what I meant earlier 🤝

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Hi dear, is "merciful like thankful"? French mixed?

I honestly didn't know being Merciful was a thing 😂

Shy, simple, supportive, friendly, polite, determined, patient, stubborn, absent-minded, studious, cheerful, affectionate, cautious, persevering, foodie, humble, honest, loyal, creative, gamer.

Here's a good list of personality traits and there's one I'm seeing a lot with others also; Simple.

Life is so complicated these days and I find a great deal of enjoyment in simple things hence why it appears in my own list. I think it's a good way to be.

Is there any in your list you would change if you could?

!ENGAGE 20

Yes, I would like to be a little more extroverted when I start to relate to someone, that is to say, at the beginning I am usually quiet, until I gain confidence.

This is often the case. I'm really shy in real life so I understand. It takes a while for me to warm up to people and even then I'm so selective. I keep my circle small. ⭕

Yes the exact same thing happens to me, at first I find it hard to follow a topic of conversation and it's not because I don't want to I feel self-conscious, I have the exact words to say but I just don't say them, but with some people that doesn't happen to me and I can really be me.

I love that feeling when I begin to feel comfortable with someone although I'm still always quite guarded I guess, at least for a while. There's very few who see the real me, that I open up to, but I'm ok with it. If you and I were in the same room we'd stand there and not talk, hide behind the plant in the corner maybe. Lol.

Philanthropic stood out right away. I'm curious as to what this means for you, how do you do so in the real world. Please enlighten me if you can and wish to.

It's a good solid summary of yourself mate, I like it. It leaves me with the impression of a fairly well-rounded individual, switched on and smart, but able to relax and have some fun too.

!ENGAGE 20

I've always had a soft corner for those who suffer from any social issue mainly from poverty. I had collected funds for a cancerous patient but unfortunately those funds weren't enough to save him. I sold my phone for a needy family. Also contributed in the treatment of an 8 years old boy with an eye complication. I'll be setting up an organization within next 5-7 years. The contributions, to me, seem little as our fellow human beings need more from us.

And Thanks a bunch sir for the appreciation means a lot to me. ❤️😊

I once knew a couple who were very charitable taking the time to volunteer their time and inject their money where they felt it was best needed. They were selfless. The thing is that they never took care of themselves and their own situation and so went completely broke and became destitute themselves; Now they are not in the position to help anyone at all, not even themselves.

My point is to make sure you take a little time and make the effort to ensure that you're catered for as if you are not right then you cannot help others to make it right.

Just saying.

This is why I have decided to give it a gap of 5 years till I am a well established person. Until then I'll be doing whatever is possible for me 😊❤️

We're glad you didn't miss either. Most appreciated of all is the fact that you're an educator. You're very good with it

Thank you @stevenson7, I try to better at it. Thanks so much, I'm glad I saw it, I was asking myself, I have not done something this weekend, and it feels really nice participating.

I think people forget to think about themselves in this way, who they are, and also that there's a lot of value in doing so. It shines a light on the true us and can help identify strengths and weaknesses, areas to work on.

Speaking of which, out of your list what would you say is your most valuable trait and why?

!ENGAGE 20

You're very right, sometimes we just have to seat back and look at some of these things.
Understanding your strength and your weaknesses is very important. Honestly speaking, I think all of my traits are valuable to me, even the playful side too, because everything combined together is what defines who I am, so all is valuable to me.

Ah ok, you can't find a trait that you feel is more valuable than the others. That's ok, they are all you, as it should be.

Exactly, I feel each one have the time they prove really valuable, so it's really difficult saying one is more valuable than the other.

Hello Khan, nice to meet you and welcome to the #weekend-engagement topic, your first visit I think yes? Thanks for your comment as above.

Khan means Prince right? I have a mate with the same name but he thinks he's the King! We tease him about it but it never sways his belief and I respect him for it. 😁

Anyway, the word terrorist isn't race-specific or religion-specific either, you're quite right in saying so; A terrorist can come from any race and be any person. Unfortunately some people have different thoughts and opinions which they are entitled to also. I guess much like the Ku Klux Klan thing, begun after the American Civil War, which is a deeply racist organisation - They have their opinion that is not everyone's opinion - And yet they still exist and have their opinion.

Unfortunately the world is full of people that don't always want to see the true facts and so follow along with other people's ideologies, or are personally small minded and warped - History is full of the same behaviour and the present is plagued with it.

All we can do is proceed to be the best versions of ourselves that we can possibly be and hope that the one-world one-people ethos grows. It's like throwing pebbles in the pond...The ripples make their way outward to cover the entire pond eventually.

Throw the humility, kindness pebbles into the pond enough and ripples form.

Thank you for your attendance this week and I hope that you bring yourself back again in subsequent weeks. I'll be honest, I don't like terrorists one little bit, but you are most welcome here indeed. Please return again and get engaged with us. 😊

Have a great weekend Khan.

Jealous. Fair. Impulsive. Responsive. Lazy at times. Possibly kind. Traveler. Happy. Clever. Hard-working. Mother. Friendly. Impressive. Faithful. Cheerful. Adventuress. Harmful. Touchy. Objective. Moral.

That's an interesting set of personality traits. A few are quite obvious and expected but I'm curious about possibly kind. Do you mean that you're kind in certain circumstances and not in others? It would make sense of course as most of our personalities probably change with the situation at hand.

You also mentioned harmful which intrigues me too!

All in all a good set of personality traits. But I wonder, is there one, or more, of these traits that you would change if possible?

!ENGAGE 20

In principle, I'm generally good. But there are times when I get very angry. But relatively "harmful". This is a good understanding of the word. For example, I love pranks. What would I change in myself! ???? Apparently, I need to be less emotional and take less to heart.

Good answer. It's always good to know what aspects of ourselves we would like to change, develop or improve.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Touchy? That's interesting for me 😃 do u mean u like touching people?

Touching it means a sensitive person!)))I do not touch other people😅

I was going to ask that 😂

This are quite interesting, so much so that one start to think how you'd merge this traits. Being a traveler, where've you been?

I can't even imagine how it all fits together!))) I have traveled a lot in Ukraine, in Russia, in Poland, in the Czech Republic, in Slovakia, in Austria. My dream is to see every country on our planet.

That is a big big dream. You've being to some beautiful city. I'd love to be in Austria, they say it is one of the safest place in the planet. Not a lot of crimes are being recorded

Austria is very beautiful!))) Many flowers and clean!))) And what country do you live in?

Preamble

First off, I have missed this engagement post. I haven't being active for a while but here I am. 20 words is so tricky. I am boring, so boring that it becomes very interesting its really funny 😅.

20 words

Eccentric, unconventional. librarian. Nature lover. Always play it simple. I ask questions alot and people sometimes call me a bavard.

A few extra points have been awarded for the preamble sir. Classy. 🙂

Now, Mr. Eccentric librarian who likes simplicity...It seems you managed to string something together for your answer quite nicely. It's a difficult question for some I guess, but it made you think right?

I'm going to ask you a question based on your answer:

If your best friend was asked to come up with 20 words about you what do you think they would be? The same as yours or different?

!ENGAGE 20

It did make me think 🤣.

90% chance that my friends would have different description of me, but they would all arrive at one similarity, which is that I love having deep and meaning conversations, and also I love books way too much. 🤣

I read your last line as I love boobs and had to go back over to check. Then I saw books. 🤪

I should add that part also 🤣

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Well, welcome back to engagement weekend! 😁

Librarian, I believe wink

What's bavard? Is that like a French word for talkative?

Thank you. 😅

I realized I should appreciate my profession more this days 😁

Yep, talkative. Not the best of compliment. 😬

Dammit. Is it too late?

Whatyouseeiswhatyouget Empathetic Kind Creative Honest Anxious Capable Intelligent Flexible Adaptable Loving Generous Rebellious Independent Curious

I could only get to 15 and I literally ran out of words. I didn't want to cheat and read other people's or google 'words to describe yourself', plus, the 'rebellious' side of me refused to follow the 20 word rule, which the flexible side of me appreciated, because we should be able to change things according to need, but now the anxious side of me is fearing disapproval.

Fun challenge, gutted I missed it on the weekend. Given it's a long weekend here, that should still count though right?

Okay, so I had to edit this and come back!

I loved @melinda010100 's words, so I am choosing from hers (thanks!) and adding:

compassionate, nature lover, resourceful, friendly

plus I loved whoever put 'adventurous', so I'm going with that.

That brings me to twenty!

Plus, I'm indecisive and funny.

Not too late for you nutbag! Lol. There's still about 5 hours to run as I end it Sunday night EURO time usually.

I like your first one, ya bloody cheat. Whatyouseeiswhatyouget that's not one word. Lol.

I like your whole list though and it looks to be quite accurate from what I know about you from hive and Discord. Rebellious...Yeah, makes sense.

When one looks at this, 20 words about oneself, I think it can seem initially easy. But when one actually starts thinking...Not so easy. It's good to reflect like this though and the responses have been pretty fucking amazing to be honest. I wasn't sure how the topic would go but everyone killed it (In a good way.)

Thanks for getting involved you curious, capable, loving nutbag. Yeah, that's right, I added a 16th word...Nutbag.

!ENGAGE 20

I'm happy to be a nutbag along with the best of 'em here! I loved all the responses too - it's one of my favourite things on HIVE, this weekend engagement project!

Being a nutbag is generally a good thing. Life's too serious as it is so lightening things up with some fun is a good thing.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

You in 20 words

I will get it, it might take me a while as I ain't the sharpest tool in the box. I have already spotted the o - it's in words, it won't take me long to find the y and the u.

;0)

Sharp as always Boomy my man. 😉

Lol. I try my hardest! 😃😃

Well, there's one word out of 20 you could put on your list.

Tryer

Doesn't matter if it's not a real word.

Fuck it put hard on the list too.

Now only 18 words left.

Tryer. Hard. Patient.Impatient...

I'm owning this!

Lol. You're so good at this Boomdawg, don't let anyone say otherwise. 🤪

Patient/impatient. Depends on which of your personalities is asked?

Lol. It was foremost on my mind as I was dealing with a fuckwit in work who is as much use as a chocolate teapot and I snapped and went full on mental from being as patient as a saint. Lol

I think I will borrow that word. Fits quite nicely here 😁

You're in the wrong box.

Hey @galenkp, there's so much response this time, how in Gods name are you keeping up 😅

I apply magic to the task and magical things happen. :)
