If The Latest HardForks Were A Type Of Movie, What Kind Of Movie Would They Be?

There Comes A Point...

Where you just have to laugh at things, or have fun with them, to avoid getting overly frustrated with it all. I believe I am approaching that point with these hardforks (the long awaited 21 and its buggy bug-patching cousin, 22). I'm not completely there, but I do believe I need to let off some steam, if you will, by posting a serious poll in a not so serious way.

In other words, try to get a point across, but in a silly, absurd kind of fashion that hopefully people can have some fun with while not taking everything too seriously.

We'll see how this goes.

Movies have all kinds of different genres. I'm wondering, if you had to choose, how would you categorize the hardforks in terms of a movie genre. Would just one fit them, or would you need more than one to describe them?

Feel free to pick one or more than one (or none for that matter).

If you actually have a specific movie in mind, by all means, share it with your response.

Hey, @gravitcaper.

That's quite the combination of movies you've got going for the hardforks. :) Any particular movie or combination of movies come to mind?

only genres, the film has probably not been shot yet:)

Hey, @cryptoburner.

Certainly has been plenty of drama, so I guess it's no wonder that answer is turning out to be the crowd favorite. :)

  • Satire

Hey, @wakeupkitty.

Thanks for responding.

I can see the potential for satire in all of this. :) Probably from a few angles, too.

Meant to ask this in the other comment.

Any particular movies come to mind?

I'm not sure if this is working but...

!ENGAGE 20

Horror/Mystery 😅

Awesome, ty.

Hey, @idig.

I wondered if anyone would go after horror. Now I know. :)

Mystery seems to lend itself quite well. Bugs that go undetected for hours if not days, waiting to strike. Not knowing when or if another might halt the chain.

Not sure if this is working, but I'm going to keep on trying anyway:

!ENGAGE 20

Hey thanks for the engage grandpa!

I normally dont care for horrors 😅.

Mysteries are interesting but please no bugs.

Have a great day @glenalbrethsen

Movie= Road Trip lol

As in, it's time for all of us to take a roadtrip from STEEM? :)

Lol. I was gonna send the trailer but i found it too vulgar lol.

Unpredictableish.

A Leslie Nielsen deadpan comedy. It's funny, a little cringe, and you're sitting there trying to decide if what just happened is serious or a joke.

Hey, @ddrfr33k.

I can see that. Especially the idea of serious or a joke, based on what perspective you take. The comedy is going for funny in most cases, but with deadpan, you're never quite sure... :)

Okay. meant to do this with the other comment. I'm not sure if it's working, though.

Documentary

Hey, @bxlphabet.

I almost included that in the list of genres, and then decided not to. :)

Is this one of those undercover documentaries, or is their permission to film?

!ENGAGE 20

Haha! I do not think they would choose to have this filmed of their own accord! So we have to go undercover. Thank you so much for the token - very much appreciated, @glenalbrethsen.

did you actually get it? I haven't seen misterengagement commenting like its supposed to. So I'm wondering if it's even giving out the tokens.

Hey, @abbak7.

Definitely plenty of drama and mystery. I can see thriller, too, depending on how long any of this might drag on and how intense people might be concerning earning, socializing, whether their holdings are safe, what this all might do to the price, etc.

Hey, @d-zero.

Definitely plenty of drama. In the typical sense, where there's ongoing conflict without a lot of resolution, and in the sense that happens a lot here, where basically things can be escalated with the slightest provocation. :)

Hey, @fredkese.

Definitely plenty of elements of drama here. :) I don't know that we have a clear winner yet, but drama seems to be edging away a little.

Will most likely win

Well, that pretty much covers the major possibilities, doesn't it? :)

Its basically what I feel =)

It's like you say.. sometimes you just need to laugh at things so they don't get to you.
Trying my best to look at it that way...

Hey, @simplymike.

Well, I'm not sure if I'm succeeding at it, but thought I would at least give it a try. :) I know railing against it doesn't seem to matter, only causes people to get upset with you rather than take you seriously, and so, I don't know. I've got a post in my head about all of this (as I'm sure a lot of us do, if they haven't already gotten it out and onto the chain), I'm just still working on the framing of it.

Same here... I have no other option than to look at it like that if I want to keep the faith....
Maybe I'm a fool for wanting to keep the faith... time will tell.
There's nothing we can do about it anyway. We'll have to work with what we've got.
I guess it's do or die :0)

Well, I don't know if I would go for the dying part... :)

The truth is, the EIP part of HF21 has caused a lot of grief so far, both for users in its implementation, and in the bugs it's been creating.

I really hold no loyalties to the powers that be, be it Steemit Inc or those in the community who have been trying to steer things. And since the latter is basically telling us to chill (Steemit doesn't have to tell us now, I guess), I'm feeling less and less a need to do it. :)

Btw, heard anything from Asher?
I've checked your post earlier today, but there was nothing.
I tried sending out Engage earlier today, but didn't work...

I did. The delay was me—I guess I got distracted and didn't send the message when I thought I did. :)

He says there something going on with the bot, but it belongs to holger80, which means he would have to have time to fix it and Asher thinks he's very busy with other things and isn't inclined to disturb him.

I haven't had any luck with misterengagement since the last bug took the chain down, and before that, it was awfully slow.

Been handing out beers instead... Should look into that Shade token... and I thought I saw something about an Entro token - or something like that...

Thriller, yes. Adventure—well, I guess it depends on what kind. Any particular movie in mind when you say adventure? Or for that matter, thriller? :)

Hey, @jeffjagoe.

Yeah. Drama looks like it's pulling away a little bit here with the poll. Not surprising, since there's been plenty of it. :)

Hey, @vimukthi.

Plenty of drama for sure, and satire seems a natural fit, too, given in particular what we've gotten from the drama so far. :)

!ENGAGE 20

I specifically mentioned satire because of two reasons. After lessons of HF 20, they should have pushed for smaller changes and had the SPS first. The other is that the EIP which was supposed to help and create #newsteem created a #borkensteem

Hey, @vimukthi.

Especially since the SPS was ready and in testing phase around the end of February beginning of March, and had HF21 taken place then, it would have been five to six months from HF20, and then they could have done the EIP (or preferably SMTs) now.

As for the EIP, absolutely, especially since newsteem has been co-opted to mean the EIP, and not the community-based change in culture mentality it's supposed to be. I personally don't think the two much go hand in hand. I guess it's still early, so we'll see.

The good thing is we have basically no competition. VOICE is the only thing that even has a chance of beating STEEM and it doesn't even have a test net. Every other attempt AFAIK has been a failure.

Very definitive. :) I'm hoping for a detective to come along and solve the case. Or maybe this is one of those that goes unsolved and thus grows cold.

Hey, @outlinez.

Definitely lots of drama and mystery surrounding the hardforks, in the sense that you never know what's going to happen next, and you may or may not know why it happened, just that it did.

You are totally right @glenalbrethsen . We only can hope for a brighter future

  • Adventure

Hey, @drlobes.

I've been wondering if someone would vote for Adventure outright (nothing else). I'd say your sense of adventure is much higher than mine, though. :) At some point you got to find the buried treasure without the storms, the pirates, and the rummy barmaids, right? :)

Right yeah, ohh the rummy barmaids...got to go now :)

lol..total mystery!

Looks like three others agreed with you. Drama is the runaway winner (or what constitutes as runaway in this case) with nine.

Not too many people thought it was a comedy, though. :)

lol! No, not a comedy unless it's in the category of not knowing whether to laugh or cry so you choose to laugh!

Oh, there are dark comedies, and tragic comedies, and so forth. I think the comedy of errors is basically the idea, though. :)

Good point and I agree!

Hey, @erica005.

Thank you for the response.

Looks like Adventure is now in second place. If you don't mind me asking, why did you pick Adventure?

If it didn't hurt so much, I would say it was a comedy of errors.
It is definitely a crime what they have done to anyone below small whale status.
It could end up being a horror story for Steem itself.
And it is definitely a mystery as to what they will do next.

Hey, @happyme.

I'm not sure if the mystery is what they will do next. I think the mystery is, how will this be good for STEEM. It seems to me they've been telling us what they'll do next. Anything and everything that aids them in their quest for ROI, regardless of how it affects anyone else. I don't doubt that the 2.5 downvotes won't be enough, and that they will push for more. They might even what to monkey with the payout curve some more.

I agree with the damage being done to accounts with less than at least 125,000 SP, but I'm guessing at that. You may well be right that it's even worse than that.

I was kind of hoping they would have 2nd thoughts and realize that reverting back to the previous rewards curve was better for everyone. That's the mystery. But, as you say, they have a 1-track mind and will likely stick to their own agenda.
