Once upon a time, I came to Hive to create. Content. And to build. A community — not apps, platforms, or games. I've been clinging to those two verbs tooth and nail for years now. And somehow, it works. I didn't come here to trade, speculate, or pour money into various liquidity pools. From that perspective, Magi isn't as interesting to me as it is to many of you. But the new protocol has something that caught my eye after all. NFTs.
Sure, NFTs are a joke. A joke to make you broke. A few years ago, people were paying insane money for a few pixels that anyone could download for free. You could even print them out and stick them over your bed. So what if someone paid fifty thousand dollars for the one official original? Or even over a million? Ridiculous... And yet, a few days ago, I messaged @tibfox:
"Hey dude! How goes it? Is there a sensible way to mint NFTs on Magi? @honeydue and I have this passion project… We talked about it at the event in Alicante... Well, it occurred to me that we could try promoting it this way too."
Yes, Magi allows you to create an NFT series easily, without coding, and in no time at all. For 10 HBD, which is a fair price. So, in just a few minutes, the first series of characters from the @dead-pets comic was born.
Despite its name, the @dead-pets account will come alive in just a few hours. And the comic strips will be published twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays. It's a "Hive-powered" comic, and we want to share it beyond our favorite blockchain (and we believe the community will help us spread the word). Because, in a way, it’s an advertisement for a social network where even a passion project like this earns its creators a well-deserved reward. Sure, it’s just a few bucks per strip, but what other social network gives you that?
NFTs don't just have to be an investment bubble. They can be a way to support your favorite creators. For ten or twenty HBD, you can buy an NFT of your favorite characters from our silly comic. It’s more of a symbolic gesture of support, but still — what other social network can do what Hive does? And even more so now that we have Magi?
I’d be more than happy to see more NFT series like this pop up on Magi. To me, it’s not a protocol for investing or trading. It’s a tool that allows us to support our favorite creators in a slightly different way.

And that’s pretty much it. No-code NFT minting for anyone. Easy peasy. Big kudos to the Magi team!

It's really interesting to see your shift in perspective on NFTs. I think a lot of us viewed them as just an investment bubble, but using them purely as a tool for fans to support their favorite creators makes total sense.
The 'Dead Pets Society' comic sounds like a really fun passion project! Also, seeing your step-by-step screenshots proves how incredibly easy the Magi team made the no-code minting process. Deploying an entire contract for just 10 HBD without needing to write a single line of code is an absolute game-changer for artists here. I got a few cheap NFTs when it was a big thing and I didn't expect them to hold any value. Can still be fun. I've not got to grips with what Magi is yet.
This was my first experience with it too :) But I’m always thinking about how to connect various Hive projects to create extra synergy, and minting Dead Pet NFTs on Magi makes perfect sense from that perspective.
I went hard into so many NFTs over on WAX. It made me a bit of money at first, but then I played things totally wrong and though I still hold a ton of them, I am a lot more skeptical than I used to be. I think the key is to just hold them because you enjoy them, not because you ever expect to make anything from them. If you can go in with that mindset, they are pretty cool. I'm glad you found something to keep you excited!

No, for sure, that's great for you. I'm still on the fence about MAGI in general and for obvious reasons it will take something pretty special for me to invest in NFTs again.

I heard you were talking about Dead Pets Society in that beer bar in Alicante, but I was so under the effect of the pills that I didn't pay attention to anything... It was a lot of buzzing inside my head that I couldn't hear external sounds... lol...
But now I see in what direction things are going, and I like your idea a lot! I was there when the big NFT bubble was created, and also when it was popped... Luckily, I didn't get into buying any of the hot potatoes in those times, but the way you plan to do it makes a lot of sense... It should be used like that, to support artists, to grow the audience, and the community around...
