It's a special cement that doesn't dry out quickly. The bricks tends to absorb water real quick what makes normal cement useless

Paperwasp and we got some bugs that can kill trees but in general wood here is safe to use

Not at all in Poland too cold in winter i guess? We do have some type of wasp that chews on wood but never treated wood.
