I knew that performance on the Hive witness node software was going to be better, but I did not imagine that it would go as far as not missing one single block after the upgrade!
I went from version 1.27.0, which was a bit problematic and made me miss many blocks, and unexpectedly had to replay the blockchain because of a mistake, which made me again miss a few more blocks (I mitigated by deactivating the witness during the upgrade to prevent further block losses).
So I started running the 1.27.4 with already 119 blocks missed. I have been keeping an eye on that number since then and surprisingly no more blocks have been missed!
I don't run the most powerful server, it is just an affordable VPS, so it is understandable there was a risk of missing something during either peak Hive usage hours or peak server traffic on my VPS provider, and even more if both peaks happened together.
After a couple days running this version though, it is surprising how no losses happened (yet?). I will keep watching this number but I am very satisfied with the performance improvements we saw recently. It makes me super confident on the scalability of the Hive blockchain and the future we have as we are driven towards further adoption.
Nice!
