Honest is one of those characters that most humans overlook, most of us in our businesses or offices we tend to over look honesty, we use the word white lie to cover up are dishonesty. Have we ever thought that an act of honesty would save us from a big problem in the future. Let people know you for being a man or woman of your words.
Honesty according to the
Merriam-Webster dictionary is "the quality of being fair and truthful".
We can never know where we will find ourselves, we might be in a situation that needs people to testify for us, what will they say, what if it is a life and death situation can anyone beat his chest and say "I know this man he is an honest person ".
Mr William was a young man who had a coffee shop in his community. He was regarded has being honest by his community people,he always said the truth no matter how difficult it was. William never cheated anybody and he was always fair to everyone.
On this faithful night He closed His shop by 10pm and was walking back home when he saw some men running towards his direction, not knowing what was going on , William joined them and ran being that it was dark and he didn't know who was pursuing these young men. These young men just robbed a store on the next street and they were being pursued by some Policemen. The Policemen caught up with the three men that robbed the Shop and also arrested William along side these men, He pleaded His Innocence but this men insisted that William was one of them. He cried and begged the Policemen that he was innocent but they had taken those men word against His.
The news of William's arrest broke out in the community the next day and everyone was shocked and they didn't believe that William was among the robbers.
They youths in the community mobilized themselves and went to the Police station. The met with the Chief of Police and each of them told him of how honest William was and they knew that he was not a criminal. The Police insisted that he would be taken to court. The next day the youths protested infront of the Police station and asked for William's release. The news was all over the Region and the government had to step in and deal with the situation. The Governor of the region set up a panel which carried out some investigations and after they made their findings they concluded that indeed William was an honest man and could not have been a robber. With this findings the robbers were pressurized and they all confessed that William was not one of them.
Imagine William was a dishonest man who lies and cheats people, maybe no one would have believed that he was not one of the robbers. People are silently watching us and how we behave and treat others, one day they might speak up for us when we need them. In everything we do honesty is important, when you have the trust of people you will go a long way in life.
