Catching up with Hive! | Migration?

Catching-Up-with-Hive.jpg

Honestly, when I came back to blogging in Steemit, I refused to know what Hive is all about. And I didn't even bother asking others why almost everybody went to blog in Hive. Until recently, I had the time to check a bit of the background and the platform .

Hive.blog / hive.blog

It confused me a bit because it looked like Steemit. The buttons, the tabs, the interface - it's all identical. And then I had these questions in mind also that I think held me back a bit before coming here. Questions like;

What is Hive?

As I said, I did not take the time to search for it. And with the things that happened or that is happening to Steemit, I'm a bit discouraged to try and blog my way here. I loved Steemit that I come and go, but I still choose to go back. And almost having the option to leave the platform is so sad. So, I didn't give Hive some attention.

Who owns the Hive?

I don't want to sound suspicious over somebody, but maybe you'll understand. Well, that's because I did not read. So, from what I found on the website, it says that the Hive belongs to its users. Correct me if I'm wrong, and maybe some links regarding what I need to know would probably be a great help.

Why does it look like Steemit?

Yeah, why does it look similar? When I saw Hive.blog, the first thing that I thought about was, am I staring at a copycat? But hey, before you judge me. It's just the innocent me who knows nothing about Hive. Now I've read some things about it, but I still think I haven't touched much of the surface, so please introduce me.

Is Hive better than Steem?

I don't want to raise this question, but I had it in mind, so I'll share it anyway. So, tell me, is it better? I'm just kidding! I know nothing about technical aspects or what other analytics talk about, but I know that the value of the Hive is higher than Steem now. Maybe one of the reasons why I decided to go here too. What do you think?

Should I leave Steem for Hive?

Isn't that a sad question? Honestly, I don't plan to leave Steemit. I've already decided to blog on Steemit and Hive at the same time. If you're going to think about it, you have two amazing platforms to share your craft. And the results, you get a higher chance to reach people. I want to say that I will stay on Steemit until I can't. I still hope for it to become better.

So, those are just some of the questions I remember. And starting to do things on Hive is like almost introducing myself to a new space. Right now, I'm migrating some of the posts I published when I came back to Steemit. And I'm still on the process of completing the move, so it'll take some time. You can check the progress at A Daily Dose".

Then after, I could share some blogs I think are due already. And I think I'll skip the part of me sharing my thoughts about what happened to the acquisition of Steemit for safety reasons. I don't want to get involved with the attack or whatsoever is happening.

And so, let's blog in peace. I'll be sharing some posts about what I'm working on in the background these coming days. And I hope I get to see some quite good results. See you!

Sort:

Hive is a hard fork out of steem (not steemit).
When Justin Sun try to take over the steem blockchain by voting for his own socket witness with the mined stake + with the help of exchanges (which powered up users funds) to vote for his socket/puppet witnesses.

Nobody owns Hive. Its run by the top witnesses which we the community vote for.

Hive is better because its decentralizered which steem isn't.
You can speak freely on steem, there is a change Justin will silence you :)

Is there hope that Steemit would become better under his management? That's just an innocent question out of nowhere. I guess I still wish for Steemit to regain it's honor back. And I wish not let history repeat itself with Hive.

He is cencoring users for speaking up and he have also stole 23million steem off users, many of them used to be top witnesses.

So if you want a centralized blockchain with 1 CEO, then stick to steem

I think HIVE would do well with a new front end separate from the layout of Steemit ... I think this discussion will forever happen as long as steemit and hive.blog look so similar

Just use peakd.com then :D

That opens a whole other can of worms 🤦‍♂️

Yes! But peakd.com is amazing :D
I never use hive.blog xD

It’s just that direction of traffic will always lead to the source ... SEO kinda stuff which is past me ... point being if we the main front end hive.blog look like a mirror of STEEM that is all we will ever be viewed as ... this is the front end most people will hear about and discover when looking into Hive blockchain ... #1 reaction so far is, what is different?

I would vote for peakd to be the main frontend and elimate hive.blog. that would change things

Oh..okay. I tried it anyway just to see if it'll work since I was away for months. I guess it's because this wasn't posted in the Esteem app. Thanks anyway! ☺
