WALL-E: A Picture of Christ

in #christian6 years ago

This is not a new idea, at all. In general, lots of heroes have similarities to Christ. Because Christ is the biggest hero of all, since he conquered sin and death.

Also, articles have already been written specifically about WALL-E and Christ parallels. I just wanted to go over the ones I personally noticed.

WALL-E

... despised and rejected of men ...

Pretty much everyone who noticed WALL-E actually liked him very much. But at first sight, they often recoiled.

Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity ...

WALL-E came from humble beginnings. His place of origin was almost unknown to the people on the Axiom.

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it ...

If WALL-E is a picture of Christ, then EVE is a picture of the church. And WALL-E is devoted to EVE.

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you ...

WALL-E converts people. Early in the move, people switch the color of their close from red to blue. WALL-E changes them. They also lose the screens in their faces. This is a metaphor to "waking up." WALL-E (directly or indirectly) ends up switching them all back to red, a picture of Christ changing hearts and setting captives free.

He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God ...

WALL-E is announced with a new song. Well, in the movie, it's an old song, but it's new to everyone on the Axiom. In fact, other robots sing the song to celebrate with WALL-E.

... to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound ...

After being sent to the repair ward, WALL-E sets the malfunctioning robots free, as well as EVE. They celebrate and singing in their new freedom, at least for a while.

... he was crushed for our iniquities ...

Yep, WALL-E was literally crushed. At the end of the movie, WALL-E is stuck inside the holo-detector as it's being deactivated. Otto forces the device closed, knowing it would gravely injure WALL-E. In doing so, WALL-E saves the day by allowing everyone to regain control of the Axiom.

Well perhaps the movie is a subtle way to spread the good news. I think of Le Mes the musical where there were parallels to Christ as well. Many Christians pick up on this and it is a spiritual gift for them. As good as these moments are they do not match the original (Christ) an are there to point the way to Christ. I appreciate analogies and this was well done my friend. As enticing as the movie is, it is a pale imitation to the original story of truth that was not on the big screen but changed the world and hearts of men and women forever. It was real life and it is ours as a gift if we accept it. Thanks for sharing a wonderful post my friend.

I could really see that WALL E was just a parody however all these signs portrayed here is premeditated, however, i know it was not for the intention of mockery, but maybe it was just to really make people curious and muse.

However Christ is the one and only no one came before him or will come after him.

Nevertheless i enjoy reading, it thrilled me thank you

Perhaps an example that can lead people to aspire for good will ultimately lead them to our greatest embodiment of good.

It is an interesting parallel. It relates the idea of the hero, and as you say Christ exemplifies the hero of compassion bringing redemption to the fallen. It can't be underestimated what huge change it was to have the embodiment of the hero in the life of Christ. Christ became our greatest aspiration, bringing compassion and kindness to our endeavours. It was a cruel world back then and is still a cruel world in parts. But as the spirit of Christ spreads through humanity we might perceive the day when love conquers all.

I've been posting in /f/christianity myself lately. It makes it easier to engage with the Christian community as a whole I think.

Christ is a messanger and a prophte from the God. so we can't compare Him anyone else. Christ came to us with God's rules and God's Book. peace be upon him.

That is interesting. Do you see a comparison as not possible? Do you see it as prohibited?

yeah it is not possible. Christ is high more than to describe him in words. then however about making comparison about him thats really Rude of us if w do that. because Christ is messanger and bring us God's book. and he taught us love,Tolerance and many other things. every single thing we learnt from him affect human's life a lot. like love and tolerance can stop wars and big proplems. love can make whole world unitand this is what Christ taught us before hunderds years and we still live on his manners.. peace be upon Christ.

Yes, I can see that point of view. Analogies can be clumsy.

I agree with you. I think people have to educate themselves about christianity and relgions. God's Books got us out of the darkness. and Christ and rest of Messangersa nd Prophtes did their best to explain to us and make it easy for us to act and to understand what is good what is not. I think there are stupid people are trying to make fun of religions and their followers. but we should stop them and and educate new genration like our predecessors taught us. so we have to play our Role in this life not just seating laugh with people who kick our standars and high values. I would thank you for sharing this topic. it was nice discussion with you.

The truth is that most people tend to understand the gospel when they can easily relate with it. Just the way as Wall-E had a mission to clean up the earth, Christ came to clean up the mess sin caused, to save our lives from sin. I believe you've passed this message well. Good work.

Welcome to the Steem blockchain @christianposts.

As I post this from https://chainbb.com/f/christianity I'm hesitant to say 'Welcome to Steemit' as I have normally done. I'm thinking 'Welcome to the Steem blockchain' is more appropriate for now.
