RE: Mother's Day Mackerel, Carnelian, Hot Wheels, and flowers.

in Ecency17 days ago

Here we go again ! Time for the flowers. I don't have all I want yet. I bought my big red geranium for the plant stand beside my front door and I bought my Mother and I each a hot pink bougainvillea. Hot Pink was the only color I saw this year, but I haven't been every where. Mom Mom also gave me some sort of petunia or kin to petunia that is purple with a thin green border on the blooms. Pretty artsy! I moved my winter pot of pansies into a mostly shaded area so they last a bit longer. I still have some pots I want some flowers for, but I have not decided which ones.

I love your tree of life.

Your hot wheel made me grin.

I don't think I've ever eaten a mackerel.

I see you had a very happy Mother's Day and that is how it should be.

I've cut way back on flowers since it has become more difficult to care for them. I hope my daughter has time this weekend to carry out the the plants that have been indoors all winter. My green man that you gave me still needs to go out. I did get some lettuce seeds planted in my yellow planter box, and I waiting to see if the moss roses I planted in a pot germinate
Spring is here!

I love smoked fish but have never had Mackerel before either. I was given 3 of them and we ate one while the kids were here and it was delicious. It's been a long time since I fileted a fish.

I don't have nearly as many flowers as I used too, mostly in pots and on the porches. Time and age changed things, but I still very much enjoy them.

Cost is a factor, too! They have become so expensive! My SS does not stretch very far these days.

I totally understand. Right now I am still working full time and drawing SS from my hubby while I let mine grow, so I can do the cost this time, but once I retire that will not be the case. (haven't decided when that will be yet) My Mom's birthday was within a week of Mother's Day. I gave her $300 to spend on flowers. When she told me later that the bougainvilleas were nearly $50 this year, my teeth about dropped out.... and they aren't even false! ha ha.... so of course I picked one up for her additionally. Turns out, in a hanging pot, it was only $39.99...😜... only.....

Good Lawd! I believe seeds will be the answer going forward. Just have to baby them at first, but they are just as good I think.
