Benedicto "BenCab" Cabrera is a renowned Filipino artist. He is considered one of the most prominent and influential contemporary artists in the Philippines. BenCab was born on April 10, 1942, in Manila, Philippines.

His artistic journey began in the 1960s when he studied Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines. BenCab's art style is known for blending traditional Filipino themes and indigenous motifs with modern and contemporary artistic techniques. He is particularly recognized for his expertise in printmaking, drawing, and painting.

One of BenCab's most famous works is the "Larawan" series, which features portraits of Filipino women. He is also known for his "Sabel" paintings, inspired by the iconic "Sabel" character, a homeless woman whom he encountered in the streets of Manila. These works reflect the social realities and struggles of the urban poor.

In 1988, BenCab established the BenCab Museum in Tuba, Benguet, Philippines, where he showcases his works and promotes contemporary Filipino art. The museum also features various artworks from other Filipino artists and tribal artifacts.

Throughout his career, BenCab has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to Philippine art and culture. His works have been exhibited internationally, gaining recognition and appreciation from art enthusiasts around the world.
