Ground Above

Grounded Sublime And Beautiful Sunday

Shoulder season with constant change from warm morning to windy afternoon dragging the clouds across the sky above in what is now evening here and thunder storm approaching from the south. Time off possibly of late one of the rare days I make sure to take time to get to share some of what is happening over here.

Chaos breaking out around the world it is pretty to remain above ground, be grounded trying to keep going in good cheer irrespective of discomfort one feels in the air.

Shell ginger (Alpinia zerumbet) currently in flower, a plant from East Asia we do have to watch spread it may become invasive, not excessively high on the list. What a pretty bloom it is crazy to think the pretty waxy flowers on long green fronds are not really welcome, perhaps how many feel of late.

Natal Bottle brush in bloom with white-bellied sunbird eyeing out the flowers opening now, glistening in the full sun this morning which changed soon enough after midday.

Incoming clouds cutting edge blue sky,

this leads onto the birds taking to the thermals playing above, swallows catching meal of the day as insects rise up,

IMG_1006.JPG

or kite simply enjoying the high windy conditions, more than likely grinning down at me below envious of free motion and movement above.

IMG_1015.JPG

Ornamental fern change of clothing, new season arriving must mean time for new growth, sprouting shoots to give the next display of unfurling to my delight.

IMG_1017.JPG

Agave plant currently sending up stalk to flower, always interesting to witness sunbirds love of blooms a few years ago when the one I had in a pot flowered. Wait and watch with interest.

Cha cha cha the shongololo or millipede as people around the world refer to them, our name remains shongololo. Isn't it gorgeous?

IMG_1026.JPG

Checked the ground out decided to remain above, don't blame it far easier although can easily accomplish steep descent on all 'thousand feet' although they do not actually have a thousand legs not sure who checked

Bathing in the sun before weather changes is skink, not the biggest in the garden, today the most handsome enjoying the tree trunk baking away.

So we love and leave with a quick chirp from the tree enjoying ground above all around, wishing you a wonderful week friends.

Cool beans and thanks a stack.

Those two birds like they are sleepy😄. They're so cute.

Taking an afternoon break, birds tend to stop off briefly.

What a nice shot of this

Also the shanglolo, It has many legs and it's big. weren't you scared?

Same my question. Pretty and scary creature

Answer has been given to @crstypatata, have a great day and thanks for visiting.

Thankyou, have a great day too.🫶🏻

Thanks for enjoying the skink.

Shongololo in Xhosa or Zulu means "roll up", all South African's know them as such. Totally harmless to humans, only thing to be aware of is they secrete a smelly dropping in defense, all children play with them fascinated by giant millipede.

oh, is that the smell of burning? It's not something to be afraid of, even a child isn't afraid. Haha okay, thanks for the explain.

Funny yucky smell not really something you want on your hands.

Change in nature is a constant, who could get bored?

Nature makes for a beautiful Sunday Joan.
And I love the name shongololo hehe

From childhood always excited to see them visiting, normally during rainy season.

Pretty nice especially with attractive thumbnail.

Taste of nature always fascinating, thanks for kind comment.

These are amazing pictures, I especially admire the bird flying on the beautiful and calm sky, the clouds really complimented the bird so stunningly, that it captivated me.

This is nice. Well done.

Like the natal bottle brush flower but never knew its name. Thats actually a suitable name as it looks like a bottle brush.

Pity the sunbird didn't fly onto the bloom, that was what I was aiming for, they do love it's pollen, perhaps next time.
