Amusement centers such as SEGA and Adores are still hugely popular in Japan, with some of the latest arcade machines attracting scores of gamers everyday. In recent years, the UFO catcher machines are making a comeback and many tourists love playing these, include ourselves.
Besides the traditional UFO claws, newer machines like the below can be found in newer arcades. Less skills required and more luck needed. Most games are still 100 Yen per try, and it takes on average 5 tries to win a prize.
In our last Tokyo trip, 'caught' another loot of different toys and snacks. Rapunzel toy, cost around 200 yen to catch. Was surprised it was so easy to 'catch'.
Got this from the newer machine. Not sure who she is. Planning to sell it off.
And this big Hello Kitty plush doll, for just 100 yen! Really lucky to get it on the first try. It was one of those big claw UFO catcher.

Nami from One Piece. Qposket version. Not really unique anymore because many shops and online sellers are selling lots of these here in Singapore. Toys from Cranekings are supposed to be prizes and not available from shops. I wonder where these sellers get their stocks from.
Gogeta (Goku + Vegeta). This was design by a Chinese from a competition.
A snoopy bag. Only decided to try this machine after seeing the bag dangling near the edge. Got it for around 400 yen.
Another 100 yen catch. Doraemon stationery set. Really worth it!
Many of these UFO catcher machines can be found at arcades in popular amusement center such as Tokyo Dome City, Odaiba, etc, and also near train stations or shopping streets, for example Akihabara, Ueno, Ikebukuro, etc.
