One of the best sushi restaurant we found in Japan is at Hakodate, just a 5 minutes walk from the Uochibadori tram station.
The Marukatsu Suisan (函館 まるかつ水産) is a big revolving sushi style restaurant that has some of the freshest seafood from the surrounding Hakodate Bay and Sea of Japan. Sushi and crab soup are the specialty here and we particularly love the fried karaage and tempura ebi.

Plenty of sushi choices from the revolver belt and all of them looked and taste really fresh. The restaurant was almost crowded at 7pm and plates were refreshed every now and then.

One of the best dish was this hairy crab soup. Having spent the day touring around in the snowing winter, this thick flavourful crab soup really help to provide the warmth and replenish our energy.

The Hakodate Marukatsu Suisan Sushi restaurant is highly recommended although it can be a little out of the usual tourist path. Look out for it on Google map if you happen to visit Hakodate.
