Who knows why these technical glitches happen but they do and cause more stress than they should. Keychain worked well for the past year or two but for some reason it stopped working yesterday. I was able to read posts but not upvote or post my own blog or do wallet transactions. Can you imagine feeling locked out of your wallet with your life savings in it? It’s not fun but it does act as a practice run for the time of death, when we have to let go and leave it all behind, so to speak.
Keychain kept saying “internal error” and my wallet amounts wouldn’t show up on it. It was damaged. Perhaps something on my Brave browser side has shifted. I have no idea. No one seemed to be able to help me on several Discord channels. No admin to ask, no advice, nothing. At most someone kindly said perhaps delete it and re-install it. But tech support on Discord was non existent. Poor show. Maybe I was impatient.
So after a night’s sleep I tried to re-add my wallet details. It helped a bit since my wallet amounts were back but I still could not post or vote. So I simply removed the keychain altogether. And now I seem to be able to carry on as before without it by manually adding my password key each time. It’s a laborious process but you can imagine how happy I am to simply be able to access my life savings again in my Hive wallet.
Let’s see if this post can upload now too. I have been able to vote so it’s looking promising. I have no idea what “internal error” is about and no one else has this problem apparently so it’s just my personal karma and mini drama playing out on Hive. These layers upon layers upon layers of security – thanks I get the concept, even if it’s not very user friendly. Such are the quirks of Hive.
If this post uploads I will be back in business. It has put me off a bit. Perhaps I’m not as resolute as I should be in trouble shooting. I may look for keychain again and re-install it but I won’t hurry. I don’t even know where to look for it. These things all come to me of their own accord during the years and I can’t remember from where. There are so many platforms and front ends on Hive, and I get the point. Hive is for developers and Dapps. I’m not a developer but simply a blogger, so it’s all excessive to me.
I’m not even a gamer. I am however a writer and I love tokenized social media where I earn via posting my original written content, I have accumulated some Hive and am very happy for it over the past three years – now that Hive price is improving and my wallet looks richer for it. I appreciate the security.
It was just a bit disappointing not finding any help from anyone. No tech support, and I found it hard to reach anyone on Discord. I’m not even sure which of the numerous Discord channels to approach. I tried several that I’ve joined over the past three years. Some of them seem abandoned, like certain projects that last had a Discord post last year. Anyway, I deleted them and now if you are reading this then it was all a storm in a teacup. Keychain broke and that’s all. Hive goes on without it, the old manual way.

It's true that "by nerds, for nerds" has limits: Tech support takes the back seat. I'm glad you were able to at least get back to a stable configuration.
Yes thanks I'm back up to normal now without the keychain for the moment. It was a simple solution to remove it, though I was worried at first as you can imagine. I enjoy a good learning curve - once it's over of course.
