Kalsang is relatively new restaurant in Dehradun. It's a branch of a Tibetan restaurant in Mussourie, Uttarakhand and now has 2 branches in Dehradun, or will soon have. The place has fond memories as I came here for the first time, 5 years ago, after marrying my wife. We were amazed by the food back then and the food was as good when I visited the place with my friend on Monday.
The place is a decent family restaurant and the decor is truly Oriental -

If one manages to come a little early or at a time when the place is not busy, one can sit next to the window and get a beautiful view of the green hills and Dehradun Valley. I couldn't take a pic, as I didn't want to disturb the people seated at those tables.
There is plenty of space inside the restaurant and one shouldn't have to ever wait to get a table. The tables are decorated with messages from customers and tell that the place is very popular.
My friend and I ordered one soup, spilt between the 2 of us and dumplings.
The food was delivered to us quickly by a friendly staff.

The soup was good but the dumplings weren't as good as I had expected. Dough was slightly thicker than I would have preferred.
The food cost us about 1000 INR, which I think makes the place pricy because we did not order that much food.
The place is clean, nicely done up with friendly staff and good food. View can be amazing if you are lucky.
If you are driving, parking can be a problem.
If you like the food, leave a note for the restaurant under the table glass cover. I myself did not but I will rate the place and food 4 on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being highest score and meaning best food possible.
