Learning Never Ends

Today something small but meaningful happened to me. I was in my room, sitting quietly with my books scattered on the floor. I was reading and trying to understand some things better. Then a young girl from our compound, her name is Happy, walked into my room.

She looked around and saw all the books on the floor. Then she asked me, “Uncle, are you going to school?” I smiled immediately. Her question was innocent, but it carried a lot of meaning. I told her, “No.” Then I asked her, “Why did you ask that?” She pointed at the books and said nothing more, but I already understood.

To her, seeing many books meant only one thing — school. And honestly, I don’t blame her. That is how many people think. Once you graduate, people expect you to close your books and move on with life. But for me, it is different.

Her question reminded me of something that happened earlier this year, around February. A grown-up lady also asked me something similar. She already knew that I had graduated, yet she was surprised to still see me reading seriously. She asked why I was still studying so much.

At that time, I didn’t say much, but deep inside me, I knew the answer.

I love studying.

It is as simple as that.

For me, reading is not just about passing exams or getting a certificate. It is more than that. It is about growth. It is about becoming better every single day. School may end, but learning never ends. Life itself is a classroom.

Sometimes, people think that once you finish school, you have finished learning. But the truth is, that is just the beginning. There are many things school does not teach you. There are many things you still need to discover on your own.

When I sit with my books, I am not just reading for marks. I am reading to understand life, to improve myself, and to prepare for the future. Knowledge gives confidence. It opens your mind and helps you see things differently.

That small question from Happy made me smile, but it also made me think deeply. Even a child can remind you of something important.

People will always ask questions. Some will wonder why you are still pushing yourself. Some may not understand your journey. But you don’t need everyone to understand. What matters is that you know why you are doing what you are doing.

As for me, I will keep studying.

Not because I am going back to school, but because I believe learning is a lifelong journey. Whether people understand it or not, I am comfortable with it.

And maybe one day, that same young girl will grow up and understand that books are not only for school, but for life.

Sometimes, the smallest moments carry the biggest lessons.
