  I think that especially in rural areas there is a feeling of indifference to animal suffering. What I mean by that is that they don't go out of their way to be cruel to animals…

  this is very common in dogs. We try to prevent dogs from becoming food aggressive but for the most part this is something that almost all dogs exhibit in some capacity.
