RE: An Art Journey Appreciation (a Short Story) | LMAC FreeStyle Collage No. 169

in Let's Make a Collage • 4 months ago

Your story is a thoughtful and satisfying read for me. You vividly paint the reality of a couple who strive to make their relationship work despite the differences in their work space and life's perspective.

Like Michelle, I too flinched at this part -

Your art galleries aren't the real world. They’re recreational arenas...

And wondered if their relationship would survive after. As a brilliant storyteller, you beautifully bridged the gap and pieced their relationship together in a way that resonates with your readers. Their conflict feels real and the resolution isn't rushed. I like that their growth happens separately — Michelle sees the engineering and physical efforts hidden within art while Lance recognises the beauty and emotional impact within chemistry. It's like they are viewing the same world through different lenses and you capture it really well with your colourful freestyle collage.

I love happy endings and this one was well done! Do take care and have a great day. 🌹

You know, each individual has aspirations, desires, and of course obligations. Mix that with a relationship in which all parties strive to be one, and at the same time retain some semblance of self, compromise has to come to the table. If a couple can't communicate and reach an agreement, then the relationship will fail. No one's desire is more important than the next person. Dismissing it will only cause distance and eventual breakup. Most importantly, as you point out, each person has to come to the realization on their own of how their unwillingness to compromise will affect the future of the relationship.

The thing I had to realize in my own relationship when attempting to force my husband to tag along with me to shop for antiques is that two people will never be on the same footing when it comes to one's individual passion outside the relationship. You can't change another person, but you both can work to find common ground or find an activity you're both passionate about you can participate in together. That's a rare find, but it's possible.

Thanks so much for your visit and insight and analysis of my characters and story theme. I appreciate it and am pleased you found the story satisfactory. I was glad the couple worked out their problem before they welcomed their new arrival!

Take care and have a nice rest of your week. Thanks for your support as always.

You're right—compromise only works when people feel their passions and responsibilities are being respected. Lance and Michelle hit a snag when they dismissed things that mattered to each other. And thanks for sharing your experience about antique shopping. It shows relationships thrive not because two people become identical but because we are curious about each other to support them. Well said!
