There’s something special about the old Naira note. Anytime I see one, it feels like I’m holding a piece of memory, not just money.


The texture is different, the designs are bold, and the faces on those notes carry stories of who we are as Nigerians. For me, it brings back moments of childhood,

when ₦5 could buy snacks after school, or when ₦20 in your pocket felt like you were rich.

The old notes may no longer be in our wallets, but they are far from forgotten. They live in our hearts as symbols of history, culture, and value. They remind us of a time when life was simpler, and money had more weight in meaning than just numbers.

Looking at them now, I don’t just see currency. I see art, I see heritage, and I see a part of Nigeria that refuses to fade away.
