Good, evening Hive! I have to take a moment to pay some gratitude to the platform itself. From the very beginning, much of what makes Hive so great is the incentive structure, and because of the community and post rewards, there is an incentive to make time to sit, write and share a part of your life. Hive values high quality content and its reflected accordingly, and for me to have content to share each night, I have to set time aside during my day to edit new photos so that I do have something to share at night. That’s played out for me since 2016.
The photos I’m sharing tonight are with Jodie, the final client that I shot during last weekend’s photography event with Moustache Jim and Farah from Lovely Organic Apothecary. I’ve been shooting for 20 years and I’ve never turned back an entire event worth of final edits within a week of the actual event! That’s crazy. Thank you, Hive, for keeping me on my bullshit. These are photos of Jodie. She’s a sweetheart and a lovely model. I’ve had the opportunity to shoot with her three times now, all through events with Farah.
This one was different in the sense that the location was so stellar. Location always adds 50% of the, “WOW” factor to a shoot. That’s one of the hardest things to secure in big cities like Los Angeles or New York. Over the years, I’ve become friends with the owners of 300 Clifton and they allowed us that space for this event. Also, shooting with Jodie three times expedited our time to find our rhythm. She knows my approach to finding the proper light and waits for my direction with posing. It was seamless and easy.
As I said, this concludes all the shoots from last weekend. There may be a few that I decide to edit just for fun. Kelly, the model I shared a few days ago, has an incredible second look based on David Bowie from Labyrinth and I have to get a few of those done just because its so epic. I’m feeling great about my productivity and life balance. Art and work are steady, I’m making time to visit my friends and family, and still prioritizing my own time, kickboxing and general happiness at @caffetto.
