De toda la basura del mundo solo un 16% es reciclada, al año se produce tanta basura como para llenar 8 piscinas olímpicas. Esto me llevó a pensar que tal vez no estaba haciendo suficiente para reducir mi parte. Lo mejor para erradicar un problema es ponerse en acción, así que como parte de esta obra de reciclaje, en esta ocasión hice una libreta con materiales que normalmente desecharía. Sentía la necesidad de querer tener un pequeño espacio para plasmar las ideas que me gustaría compartir en Hive, un lugar donde escribir esas fórmulas para editar las publicaciones que comparto o alguno que otro garabato. En vez de ir a una librería y comprar una libreta decidí poner en marcha mi creatividad y darle una segunda oportunidad eso que luego de ser usado llamamos basura. Acá les muestro el paso a paso y resultado de esta manualidad.
Of all the garbage in the world only 16% is recycled, enough garbage is produced each year to fill 8 Olympic size swimming pools. This got me thinking that maybe I wasn't doing enough to reduce my share. The best thing to eradicate a problem is to take action, so as part of this recycling play, this time I made a notebook out of materials that I would normally throw away. I felt the need to want to have a small space to capture the ideas I'd like to share on Hive, a place to write down those formulas for editing the posts I share or the occasional doodle. Instead of going to a bookstore and buying a notebook I decided to put my creativity to work and give a second chance to what we call trash after being used. Here I show you the step by step and result of this craft.

Lo primero que realicé fue tomar algunas hojas limpias que habían sobrado de un cuaderno viejo, en vez de utilizarlas todas en esta nueva libreta, decidí guardar algunas para no tener que arrancar ninguna para cundo necesite una hojita suelta. Gracias a que las hojas tienen 3 hoyitos pude coserlas por allí sin ningún problema, de esta manera se mantendrían fijas para el siguiente paso.
The first thing I did was to take some clean sheets that were left over from an old notebook, instead of using them all in this new notebook, I decided to keep some so I wouldn't have to tear any of them out for when I needed a loose leaf. Thanks to the fact that the pages have 3 little holes I could sew them there without any problem, this way they would stay fixed for the next step.

Con la ayuda de unas tijeras de punta delgada y una cuchilla fui haciendo hoyitos con distancia de 1 cm en donde iría el lomo de la libreta.
With the help of a pair of thin-tipped scissors and a knife, I made holes 1 cm apart where the spine of the notebook would be.

Una vez realizados los agujeros, procedí a coser todas las hojas por medio de estos hoyitos, esto mantendrá a todas las hojas juntas y firmes.

Como buena recicladora utilicé una caja de cereal para convertirla en la tapa y soporte de la libreta. Fue importante abrirla con sumo cuidado.

Para determinar el tamaño adecuado de la tapa, utilicé directamente las hojas y dibuje en el cartón el tamaño de estas, después le agregué a cada lado un centímetro adicional, para luego ser recortadas.
To get the right size of the cover, I used the sheets directly and drew on the cardboard the size of these, then I added an additional centimeter to each side, to be cut out later.

El tamaño del revestimiento de estas tapas fue sacado con la ayuda de una regla, medí el cartón directamente en el papel de regalo y le agregué 1.5 cm adicional a cada lado marcando la línea de corte con un lapicero.
The size of the lining of these lids was drawn with the help of a ruler, I measured the cardboard directly on the wrapping paper and added an additional 1.5 cm on each side by marking the cutting line with a pencil.

Observando que el papel de regalo recortado encaja perfectamente con las tapas de cartón, utilicé silicona líquida para forrar las tapas. Primero el centro del cantón, luego las orillas hacia adentro.

Si quería que las tapas se pegaran bien en todas las hojas, es importante que las pegue directamente a la costura de estas. Entonces con la ayuda de la silicona líquida cubrí toda la costura y rellené todos los orificios por donde pasaba esta, primero de un lado y luego del otro.

Medí 3 centímetros de ancho y 28 centímetros de largo en una cartulina roja para crear un lomo a la libreta, de esta manera se le dará protección adicional para mantener las tapas unidas y en su lugar, además de un toque estético adicional.

Otra vez con silicona líquida procedí a cubrir toda una cara de la cartulina para luego ser pegada en el lomo de la libreta. Ya con esto se empezaba a ver hermosa y brillante mi libreta, pero le faltaba el toque Hive.
Again with liquid silicone I proceeded to cover one side of the cardboard to be glued to the spine of the notebook. With this, my notebook started to look beautiful and shiny, but it lacked the Hive touch.

Gracias a que tengo guardado un arte previo con el logo de Hive, pude calcarlo en una hoja para luego cortarlo de modo que sirva de molde para recortarlo en la cartulina roja.
