Please give me an opinion on my game jam game - Win 1 SBI


I just recently finished a game jam project with my good friends and I wanted to gather some feedback. The best constructive feedback will be rewarded with 1 SBI!

That gets exciting very quick. The zombies come on fast and strong. My critique would be that the colour pallet is a bit confusing. I didn't know what I could walk on and what was an obstacle. The 8Bit graphics are cool just the ground plane I think needs to stand out more. I really like the concept of not always fighting and it was a thrill to have to run all the time but I think it may be too difficult from the very start maybe starting slow and then getting faster for the movement of the zombies would work. Also maybe showing a bit more of the play field would be nice as I was reaching the edge and didn't know the zombies were right beside me. I enjoyed my play but it was a bit too difficult for me. Keep it up.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. What you told me here is what returns to me every single game jam... Playtesting. I always master my games during development and feel like they are too easy, while in fact, it is just me getting better. I never have the time to get second opinions too. The pallete is something I screwed up I believe with the introduction of my "Concrete Wall". We were short on time and I had to create an asset XD

Why do you teleport somewhere else every time you swing the blade? That is pretty confusing.
3/5 for music(25%):
The music is somewhat annoying. Especially when you click "start"/"continue" and the track resets.
5/5×25% + 2/5×50% + 3/5×25% = 3/5

Thanks, I should really update the description on the game. The theme of the game jam was "only one". We decided to implement the theme as only one sword swing.
The music I totally agree XD I made it in 15 minutes just so something was there :)

By the way, I changed around the speeds of the zombies in different levels so it is less difficult to start off. I also updated the confusing texture :)

It is similar to some old mobile games. I think its graphic quality and controls needs to be changed.

Blade is a good game to pass some time, but there could really be some statistics in the game, for example how many hours:minutes have you survived, how many time have been hit by a zombie, how many times have you striked your sword, how many zombies have you have killed. There could also be achievements. And a toplist/ranking of players, so people could compete with each other.

All features have been considered. I will get to implementing them some time :)

Sorry but it is not working. I click and wsing the sword. i change the area. why? and in the new area i can't swing my sword and i die because of the zombi.

Please be sure to read the instructions and description. The game is about evasion. You have only 1 swing per level, in which you should kill as many zombies as possible.

Fun game. It's just sometimes I just can't find enough mana. When there is enough mana around everything is fun and high octane. When there isn't enough I'm just feeling like I'm wasting time fighting an unwinnable battle. Apart from that everything is great. With some development you can make it a monetized web game.

Thanks for the feedback! About the Mana, that is a bug. I can't seem to find a solution and will just probably remake the entire Mana spawning system. Thanks for the feedback :)

No major complains. Sometimes enough mana pellets is tough. You should make some adjustments to the algorithm. Other than that I had a good time for 15-20 minutes. You should try putting it on https://www.kongregate.com

haha this is pretty fun, but when I strike the sword I don't get why I can't kill the zombies.... instead I move to a new place

oh the sprites are really bad, plus I'm on mobile, so no control, I did something similar in Pascal years ago, you can do so much better with unity.
