Good Morning to all of you. How is your Monday like?
How
I went to Bintulu recently, and it was great. Today, I am going to introduce you to one of the biggest malls here in Bintulu, Sarawak. This mall is called The Spring Mall. Recently, it is the harvest festival here in Sarawak, so you are going to see a lot of decorations that are themed with local traditional cultures here in Sarawak.
This mall was completed only a couple of years ago. There is another expanded area at the moment that is still under construction.
As you drive into the parking space here (one of the most expensive parking spaces in Bintulu ), the car plate scanner scans your can plate number and depending on how much you are going to be here, you will need to pay accordingly.

Gawaii or Harvest festival decoration
Here, there are a lot of hand-woven traditional crafts like the straw hat and basket. This tradition is still hand-woven and continues till today. Sometimes, as you walk around town, you see the iban ladies (the natives of Sarawak) among some other tribes of Sarawak weaving their craft. Then, sell them. These are used in daily lives.

The whole atrium with decor that is related to the Gawai or Rice Harvest Festival. Above, hangs the pua kumbu that is hung high up. In Sarawak, the locals are proud and carry this tradtion with pride.

The warrior shield, but this one is not made of real wood. This used to be in battles among local tribes, where headhunters used to cut off the heads of the fallen enemy. They then hang the heads of the enemy in their long houses to scare off the spirits of the enemy. Headhunting is no longer practised today. You can search more if you're interested in the Borneo headhunters. However, that being said, the Ibans of Borneo are still proud to be called headhunters. There are stickers of headhunters on their car and real skulls of fallen warriors are still seen in the local Sarawakian musuem till this day.

A straw hut that depicts tradition. Now in modern Sarawak, this is something really hard to find.

There are many modern retail shops that set up business here. One of the best features of this shopping mall is that, it is huge and have proper management. The shops here has a slight standard.

Chagee is opened here too
This Chagee branch is quite popular and lots of locals love to get their drinks here.

This is just a small snippet of what this mall looks like. Last year I recorded some video here for my YouTube channel. You can check it out.
Thank you very much for reading this post.
If you have anything you want to know about Sarawak and Miri, do let me know. Maybe, I will be making a post related to the questions being asked. Sarawak is in Malaysia but if you do visit Sarawak some day, you will definitely find it different.
