I wanted to have a Fujifilm for so long and on my birthday, I was given an XA10 with its lens kit, 16-50mm. I know it’s a bit dated now to have it and for a hobbyist like myself, it’s a good entry point to explore further on this particular hobby of mine.
In the past working with fixed lenses and limited settings of Sony DSC-H300, I took so many cool pictures that I was really satisfied with its result. Now though, I realized that I know nothing at all about composition and framing.
It is also why I spent the entire day obsessing about its setting and trying to come up with the look that I wanted. Here are some of the results from my first experiment of settings with the camera.
There were more options compared to the first camera I had. I needed to re-learn all the theory and put it to practice.
Just as these two pictures below, they are shot with different film settings on the camera itself.
From the first picture, I think fuji is really awesome for street photography rather than indoor ones.
I am still working on creating bokeh but the first time I tried it, the result looks like these
There are many new things I need to discover and I'd do some more photo hunt and walk around some neighborhood. Since now I also live in another city with more object to shoot at, I'd have to much fun with it. I also see the color changes indoor vs outdoor which I am very much looking forward to working with and improve my skills.

What a thoughtful gift! I think the indoor shots have a certain charm too, though definitely seems to work nicer, at least on these settings (who knows with others?) on outdoor. The cat's eyes, on the other hand...damn.
Right? I think the indoor ones needs a bit of work and I am still trying to figure out the right setting for it. I love the outdoor ones, it just have this certain fuji look to it. I need to walk around and experiment more 😄
Indeed - it's an entire new world. Enjoy your explorations and wanderings :)
Do you know if modern lenses would work with this camera? Maybe Fuji cameras are more your thing after all. Could be good to swap out the kit lens and get used to their stuff
I saw some options including Fujifilm XF 16-55mm F2.8 R LM WR II Lens and TTArtisan AF 27mm f/2.8 ( this one looks so compact and affordable too). Definitely going to get the affordable ones 🤣 this is the beginning of my endless upgrade cycle
That'd be a good one for staying relatively out of people's way and getting some up close shots of things. Their lenses are also built quite well despite how affordable they can be. 28mm tends to be the general street photography focal length too, nice and wide
The camera and its 16mp sensor are fine, really. Just pay attention to exposure and learn the histogram and you'll get some nice shots out of it. :)
The lens kit right now is too bulky and definitely catches people's attention. I am looking for a 2nd hand lens of that and hoping I could find a sweet deal.
Yeah that's generally why I don't like zooms. They're just a bit too big and/or heavy for me. Doesn't feel very comfortable for quick shooting, especially if you're at an event or something and trying to be a bit less obvious when snapping pictures of people
Back in the days when I was a filmmaker, I collaborated with a guy called Fuji on my short film projects ( from 2010-13 ).
He was my camera operator/editor.
We used a Canon (7D ) though.
Have fun playing around with this camera!
hahahahaha that's interesting name! I am currently testing the video feature too and trying to explore around with it.
That's incredible! The photos you took are amazing.
