This week was a mix of firefighting and forward planning. We spent time troubleshooting several edge case errors that were affecting 3Speak, including IPFS issues and a broken scheduling script. Everything is back to normal now. On the product side, @meno gave snapie.io a fresh new look with a redesign and an invitation-based account creation system. @tibfox, who is back from Alicante, shipped a major redesign of OpenPods. We also discussed the ongoing attack on 3Speak, the challenge of migrating servers to reduce costs, and started defining the premium features for the upcoming 3Speak subscription. Even though @tibfox did not join this week's meeting, he is back from Alicante and has started contributing to 3Speak again. He shipped a major redesign and improvement of OpenPods (formerly Hangouts). The updated design can be previewed at https://3speak.okinoko.io/ and will be available soon on preview.3speak.tv.

Snapie.io Redesign
@meno gave snapie.io a fresh new look with a visual redesign and several bug fixes. He also added an invitation based account creation system, which allows new users to join through invitations. Check out the new design at snapie.io.

3Speak Troubleshooting
@eddiespino spent time troubleshooting and fixing several edge case errors that were affecting 3Speak. These included IPFS related issues, a broken video scheduling script, and other errors that were causing problems. With the help of Warp Terminal, Eddie was able to diagnose and fix these issues, and 3Speak is working normally again.
Topics We Discussed
Server Migration
We discussed the tough task of migrating services, scripts, and other components across servers. The goal is to reduce infrastructure costs, but the migration is complex given all the moving parts. This is an ongoing effort.
3Speak Premium Features
We started defining the premium features for the 3Speak subscription, which is expected to cost around 10 HBD per month. The planned benefits include:
- Publish video recordings from OpenPods
- Prioritized subtitle translation with 10 additional languages
- Prioritized video encoding
- 1080p encoding (non-premium users would be limited to 720p max)
- No beneficiary fees on uploads
These features are still being finalized, and we welcome community input.
DHF Maintenance Proposal
We announced that a draft for the 3Speak DHF proposal will be ready this week. This proposal will be for maintenance costs only, not for salaries.

A big shoutout to @eddiespino for fixing the 3Speak issues so quickly. The fresh new look for Snapie.io by @meno and the OpenPods redesign by @tibfox both sound very exciting.
Also, the upcoming 3Speak Premium features (like the 1080p encoding and prioritized subtitles) look like a solid step forward for the platform's sustainability. We highly appreciate the transparency regarding the DHF proposal too. Keep up the fantastic work❤️❤️❤️
