Ever play too much Splinterlands in a day that you simply get dizzy from exhaustion? Well this blog post is not anything related to that situation. Instead today we talk about something that is built into Splinterlands battles.
When a battle extends further than 20 rounds there is a new effect that comes into play called fatigue. Basically it deducts every monster -1 health each turn prior to the monsters executing their actions and attacks.
Example of Fatigue

The battle above is one where I encountered fatigue and won. The sticking point of when fatigue happens is when my Earth Elemental held its ground against Divine Healer and vise versa.

So what happens then? A stalemate all the way to end of round 20.

With that fatigue sets in on both sides without discretion.

Round 21 is now has more actions as you can see in snapshot above compare to the one before. 11 to 5. This will continue on to the next round.

Since my monster is limited to only Swamp Thing is attacking it maybe difficult to dominate if fatigue would set in. However in round 22 the fatigue sets in with deducting 2 health. This also provides evidence that as each round of fatigue starts the consective one will have a deduction of health of -1-n on all surviving monsters. Where n is +1 for each round after 21.
At the middle of round 22 my opponent's monsters are knocked out due to fatigue and I escape with the win.
Conclusions
A quick review of fatigue in Splinterlands. During battles if it prolongs more than 20 rounds the addition rounds will reduce the health of all surviving monsters before the round begins. Each consecutive round after 21 will deduction 1 plus the "n" round beyond the 21st on every surviving monster. Example like what we just saw at round 22 all monsters had a deduction of 2 health. If the match went on to round 23 it would have been deduction of 3 health and so on.
The goal of having fatigue is to avoid stalemate in the game. Imagine if this was not implemented how would the match continue and end as it could get the entire hive blockchain into a continuous endless loop. Dang that will be real fatigue for everyone playing as no one can execute any battles for a very long time lol.
