Here is an amazing demonstration of fluid dynamics in that the much dense liquid mercury is able to displace the less dense iron anvil thus effectively making the anvil appear much lighter than it is. Also interesting is that striking the anvil with a hammer while inside the pool of liquid mercury has the noise dampened to a great extent.
Fascinating stuff, and looks like I may have to order a few buckets of liquid mercury...
