Differential Equations: Population Growth: Example 2 (Notes)

In this video I go over further into the human population model I covered in my last video and this time look to create a more accurate model for the second half of the 20th century. The resulting model more closely represents the actual human population of the world from 1950 to the year 2000. Also, I include the previous models from the Example 1 video to illustrate the need to always select an adequate range to model after which the model becomes unreliable. This is a pretty extensive video on modeling population growth, and I also go over some interesting numbers on the world population then and now, so make sure to watch this video!

Example

Use the data in the table below to model the population of the world in the second half of the 20th century.

Use the model to estimate the population in 1993 and to predict the population in the year 2010.

Note: This is the same table as in Example 1.
