If you have muscular pain and/or see a Chiropractor on any sort of regular basis, you may be familiar with the concept of TENS Thereapy. TENS Stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. What it boils down to is electric shock to convince the muscles to contract and relax, with the end result being the release of built up contraction and knotting in the muscles.
I get a lot of tension headaches, so I had an old TENS unit that worked off of 3 AAA batteries.

It looked a bit like the above, with three modes of operation, a 15 minute run time and intensity dials on either side. With only the power of three small batteries, I was constantly dialing this unit up to max intensity to get any sort of relief to my neck.
So I went looking for an updated model, and came across a site called www.healthmateforever.com. They have rechargeable units with many different modes, up to 80 minutes of run time, and a lot more power.
You can usually find a good 50% off sale for the main shopping product page, but for even deeper discounts, you can dive into the Scratch and Dent or Limited Stock Sale tabs.
I went for the limited stock, where I found the 8 mode touch screen TS8AB, for $25 it was way less than the units with up to 24 modes selling for as much as $250 even after the half off code. I added a bunch of extra pads to keep me going for awhile at $2 each, and then I added the foot units. These were what made me pull the trigger.
I have Planter Fascistic, which these are supposed to help with a lot. 4 emitters line the sandals to emit the electric pulses into your feet. I've used them once so far, and they do seem to help. You just have to keep pressure on them at all times, so you can't sit up in a recliner with them on, or the emitters will lose contact.
All in all, I am happy with this new unit. Do you use TENS? Or do you have an alternate means to release tension? Let me know what works for you in the comments.

My Grandma had these for recovery after her stroke. We used to connect them to our faces and crank them up. It was hilarious watching our eyes, cheeks and lips jump all around. Guess that comment didn't help much but it was fun when we were kids.
Hahaha sticking the electrodes on your face is one of the "strictly prohibited" uses of the device. I have been known to use them on my temple at very low settings, as the tendon that causes my tension headaches wraps to the temple, so one behind the ear and one on the temple can help.
I can see the entertainment value you speak of, but with the power of the new unit, cranking it up would HURT!
That's cool they help with your headaches. Yeah, I imagine they have come a long way since I played with hers in the 80's.

I use a tens unit and find that it really helps with muscle and nerve pain during flare ups. Either the signals are being disrupted or maybe endorphins are being released...but either way it truly makes a difference. The only problem is with the electrodes...normally you would want these to be super sticky but mine are so thick they don't come off very easily and are very painful to remove. Luckily...the device is compatible with most generic 'pin style connector' brands...so that gives me more options. I haven't been sure where to buy more of them but healthmateforever looks like it might be a good option...if they can ship to Canada. Glad to see you were able to get something affordable for your headache and foot pain! <3
