So for only the second time in my Curie Career I have made it to the top. Going a perfect 7 for 7 last week entitles me to one of the Top Curator slots for the week of December 31 - Jan 6!

Yes Leo... I am King of the World!
One of the perks of being a Top Curator is the ability to nominate a new Curator to the fold of Curie. This is not an idle capability. I have to be very selective of who I offer a nomination for. If that person does poorly, I lose the ability to nominate Curators moving forward, regardless of how many times I make Top Curator. On the flip side, if I nominate a good curator, there is financial incentive for that.
So... Do you have what it takes to be a Curator?

I believe I know some people who would make great curators, if they want to do it and have an adequate understanding of the requirements. Here's some light reading if you are interested:
- Curation Roundup - My look at Curie and other Curation Projects from before I became a Curator
- Observations during my Curie Mentoring Phase
- Curie Expanded Guidelines for Early 2018
- Curie Weekly Update
Read all that and still think this is something you want to commit your Steem Time to? Or did I scare you off and make you want to turn around and head back the way you came?

No? Still here? Well then maybe you have what it takes to Be a part of Curie. So here's what I need from you...
First, if you are not someone who has interacted with me in some form or fashion, then you are going to need to start interacting with me in comments, discord channels, or something. I am not going to recommend someone who I don't know at all. Sorry. See repercussions of nominating a poor curator above. I can't promise to be top curator every week, but I can tell you this won't be the last time I am Top Curator, so start interacting with me now so that next time you are in the running.
Find me on Discord and let me know about your interest. I will make you demonstrate that you have read and understood the Curie Expanded Guidelines. There will be homework.
In the end. I can only choose one. The person who demonstrates an understanding of what a Curie Curator is the best will get the nod. I am not opposed to having several people waiting to be nominated the next time I am top Curator, but you need to understand going in that you could be waiting for a bit.

So there's my pitch. I can tell you that getting my nomination will be no harder than it was for me to get a nomination. But I actively sought it out. I wanted to curate. If you don't want to Curate, REALLY want to curate, then save yourself and me some time and don't step up. This is work. It's pretty cool work, but it is work.
I look forward to hearing from potential Curators who want to join the fray!
Thank you for doing what you do. I'm not stepping up because I don't have the time to commit to doing what you do right now. I really respect the people who do though because nothing beats good old fashioned manual curation and quality content. So to everyone putting in the hours making Steemit a better place, THANK YOU!
It can be terribly time consuming if you let it. But really no required minimum number of submissions a week, so when I have a good week I can submit 10 or so, when I don't have time to do much I can submit 2-3.... it's all a matter of time versus reward.
Congratulations on being the top curator, I'm really interested but I don't think I will have the time. If I can only quit studying and be a curator that will be great :D
hahaha
Well, with Steem trading at $3 each and each post that gets approved being worth a 10 Steem finders fee, it can be lucrative.
But no, I would not give up school for Curie. ;-)
Well done @mikepm74, you do prove your worth, well desrved!
Hmmm, this is interesting indeed and the first time I have been excited about the idea of learning more about curration. So far one if the most difficult components to understand.
I would like to put my hand up for consideration of a mentorship. I think I could be not only qualified for it but could find some time for it. I work part-time as an accountant and volunteer my other time amoung various projects. Since finding Steemit, ive become slighly addicted often searching the new feed. Its amazing how much more time I have found since giving up candy crush along with a myriad of other time eroding apps.
I would love to be able to retire from my traditional job before im forty and given I turned 37 the other day I need to get my butt into gear. By becoming a mentor of the #curie team early 2018 I would be taking a huge step towards that goal.
Thanks for putting this put there for us to nominate for. If you want to know a little more about me feel free to check out my Intro post
Happy New Year!
I'd be happy to talk to you about curating! Make sure you have read the linked posts and hit me up in steemit.chat or Discord. I suggest you join steemit.chat and get into the #curie channel and start to experience what that channel is like as well.
Looking forward to talking to you!
Awesome. I read all the links before deciding I would put my hand up. I have joined steemit.chat, although still learning how to navigate it but have found and just joined the #curie team. Finding good posts is not as easier as I had assumed it would be initially but open to a challenge.
Congrats on making top curator again!
How do I find you on discord?
I use the name mikepm74 (which will come up as DJ Mikey Masters) in Discord, or you can find me under mikepm74 on steemit.chat. Either one.
Aw man... I was just thinking yesterday on how I wanted to be a curator... I keep finding articles that I think are amazing and totally unnoticed... but I'm also worried that I don't read enough on this platform and tend to stick in my own little circles.
I'll read your linked articles and get back to you. I really want this platform to be successful and I think manual curation is the key, but I'm just not sure if I'm experienced enough yet. I'll reply to this comment with a decision tomorrow night.
Is there a baby curie that I could get my training wheels on first?
Curie is what you make of it. Go to streemian.com/guild/curie and check out the recently approved posts list. Follow @curie and see what posts get resteemed from that account. They only resteem the best of the best of the best SIR!
Training wheels is called mentoring. And I would be happy to mentor you. Let me know when you have read up on everything if you are still interested.
I had actually already obessively gone through 2 of those posts already.... but your links did give me an extra appreciation on how long you've been smashing this blockchain with informative gold.
I've thought about this a lot over the past 20 hours and I'd like to put my hand up too. I think I've come up with an effective strategy on how to tackle this seemingly overwhelming task and, most importantly, help new creators get that first touch of love they need to convince them its worth their time and effort. Steem already has two decent blockchain competitors, and one confusing one (Sola, AMP & Yours) and I think curation is the most important thing to stand above these guys.
I'm still out for NY festivities... but when I get home I'll collect some posts I think might fit the criteria and look you up ready for my homework...
Nice. I didn’t realize there was a curation “job”. The more I look the more there is to learn.
It's as much a job as you make it. The good thing about this job is there is actual financial incentive for doing good work. :-)
Congratulations @mikepm74 I am glad you made top curator again.
Wow, top curator! Excellent job! I'll keep my eyes open for potential curators. If we had more time to devote, my wife and I would at least apply for positions, but we really do not have the time right now. It's a huge responsibility to be a curie curator. It looks like a very attractive job to have. And fun too! Maybe in the future, but for now we're still practicing and improving our curating ability. @ironshield
I think I'd spend some time participating in @humanbot's curation initiative for a while because he gives feedback that explains what a curie curator would be looking for.
Nice job! Congrats on being 7 for 7 this week! That's pretty awesome! Really cool that one of the perks is getting to nominate someone else. I hope you find someone really good. You can do it. ;) Happy New Year!
Thank you @mikepm74 for all that you do. Just like @austinhopper and a couple others, I would love to step up and try my best to get your nomination, but aside from the fact that I don't believe I am ready/qualified yet, I also just don't have the time to commit to it at the moment. I know you said that there is no minimum number of submissions a week, but if I were going to do it, I would still want to go in with gusto and do more than just the bare effort.
Nevertheless, I will be sure to read your material so that the next time around, I will be a bit more prepared, and hopefully be able to commit more time and effort into it.
Thank you again for all of your work and all you do, especially what you do for newcomers (though I know this is not necessarily related to your Curie work).
Whenever you are ready give me a holler, and or, check out @carlgnash curator school at @humanbot
I tried to become one when Geek Girl posted the same three weeks ago and added me in the librarian channel as well. I guess she couldn’t recommend anyone that week.
Okay, I an interested. I have read all the curie rules quite a few times but have never interacted with you via comments or chat. Will start doing that.
hey! geekgirl will get back to top before you know it. I don't want to poach her recruit, so I woulc continue working with her and let her make final judgement.
Best of luck!!
Okay!
Thank you for what you are doing. When I first started Steemit, it was really daunting. However, when I got my first vote from curie, it was such an awesome moment and it has kept me writing ever since. You guys are rock-stars!
Congratulations! This post has been chosen as one of the daily Whistle Stops for The STEEM Engine!

What an excellent post @mikepm74. Yes the thought of doing this really really intrigues me. I have been on here for a little more than two weeks and read so many different articles my eyes have almost gone crossed, lol. I am really into developing my own creative content but I think I can definitely help in fostering growth for others that are deserving. I would be curious on your thoughts and any input you may have directly. Thanks again, this really is an intriguing concept and you have done stellar work synthesizing curation so well.
Thanks for sharing this article and the other articles linked. This is so cool! I think this is great and the steemit community will greatly benefit from this. 😊I am always looking for interesting articles, I wish I had time for this! It sounds like you do an excellent job!! I am definitely going to keep reading more about this.
I am considering of applying to become a curator. I have to check the guidelines just in case I am suitable to become one.

Yes I'm sure that'll get you the curie position, good pitch!
Same RP as me too, Jeez!
lol!
No thanks
