Do you love chocolate? What about dates? If both answers are yes, then I suggest you read this post to the last word. Today we are going to make delicious Chocolate Date Brownies. And you know what, we won't even need sugar. They are sweetened only with dates, banana and chocolate. Believe me, they are much better than classic brownies, and even healthier!

For the main mixture:
- 250 g dates
- 150 ml hot water
- 2 medium-sized ripe bananas
- 190 g soft butter
- 1 vanilla sugar with bourbon vanilla
- 1 pinch of salt
- 3 eggs
- 150g flour
- 60 g dark cocoa
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 0,5 teaspoon baking soda
- 100 g ground almonds
For the topping:
- 200 g dark chocolate
- 75 ml vegetable oil
- 3 tablespoons ground almonds

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Prepare a baking tray (about 30x25 cm) by lining it with baking paper.

Remove the pits from the dates and place them in the pan. Cover with hot water and leave to soak for 10 minutes. Drain the water and then blend the dates to a paste with a stick blender.

Mash the bananas with a fork. Add the room-temperature butter, salt and vanilla sugar and mix everything together with an electric mixer.

Add the eggs to the resulting banana-butter mixture. Finally, add the cocoa to the mixture.

Stir the baking powder and baking soda into the flour. Add the resulting mixture to the wet mixture and mix well.

Add the date paste and ground almonds to the mixture.

Mix everything well, then transfer the mixture into the baking tray. Smooth over the top.

Place the baking tray in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes. Be careful not to overbake the dough.

When the dough is baked, remove it from the oven. In the meantime, melt the pieces of dark chocolate with the oil (in a water bath or in the microwave) and pour the chocolate sauce over the sponge cake. Sprinkle the ground almonds on top.

When the pastry is cold and the topping has set, cut into cubes and serve. The pastry is best well chilled, so keep it in the fridge.

Ohhh! I'm starting to love cookies!☺️
I've always loved them and I don't think anything can change that 😊
Very tempting !!
Thanks @nurfay! I love this dessert, the recipe is quick and easy. And you use up the ripe bananas, so you don't throw them away. A win-win combination 😉. See you around!
That looks really good, love the idea of the natural sweeteners. The only thing I’d do different ( if I baked ) was gluten free flour.
Hi @dmilliz, sugar-free sweetening is also great in my opinion. As for flour, fortunately we don't have gluten problems at home, but I use spelt flour very often because we like it so much. But if I bake gluten-free, then I choose rice flour. Thanks for stopping by!
