I was inspired by today's (Sunday) colorchallenge #magicalmoments to get out in the garden today and look for some purple flowers. It's summer here in England and the weather has settled down to long balmy days with sunrise at about 5 a.m. and sunset at 9:30 pm.
The birds are singing and everything is peaceful. I couldn't remember if we had any purple flowers in the garden so I just went to have a look. I found some Clematis on a vine.

I am not by any means a gardener. I tend to let nature just do its own thing and I just cut the grass every now and again. Not all #oldtimers are natural gardeners.

It was a pleasant surprise to find that I did actually have some purple flowers growing in the garden.

Not exactly the best flower photos in the world but it was nice to be able to get something at least, using my smartphone camera. They say the best camera is the one you have with you.
A special thank you to @barbara-orenya for creating the #beautifulday tag
Interesting looking flower and pretty too. I really like the center of it. Great photos for an old-timer! haha! :)
Haha, I can't see very well and just took these with my smartphone. (Not that smart obviously) I haven't got a macro function so this is the result. Not bad but these days you can get fantastic close ups with most phone camera's just not mine lol
I do see people taking amazing close up shots with their cell phone. Isn't technology something!
I agree the cell phone has evolved into an incredible device. I'll have to practice more with taking photos with mine. I usually use it for vlogging and it is brilliant. I just haven't mastered the still photo side of it. I will persevere lol
I agree that the best camera is the one you have with you ;-) That's why I shot always with my mobile also ^_^
I love the attention and the intention you had on this sunday to make it a #beautifulday @molometer !
Thanks Barbara. ;)
Great color. I planted 2 new clematis vines in my garden this year. They're one of the flowers that grows well in my shady yard.
The clematis really seems to look after itself. I really have no clue about gardening apart from cutting the grass but I do love looking at all the various plants and flowers. I'm pretty good at growing chilli plants and the odd tomato.
Molometer, I loved your picture of the purple Clematis on the vine. It was so colorful, like you! Your narrative gave me a peaceful moment, bringing me to the balmy day in your garden. Isn't nature wonderful, creating natural beauty to surround us each day? Thank-you for sharing your pictures and story with us. Have a great evening!
I'm so pleased you enjoyed this post. I love the idea that everything we could possible need is right in our own back yards. We just have to go and have a look. I do like this color challenge series. It's terrific fun.
That first one is a really great shot.
Thanks David. It's the clearest photo for sure. I tried a few shots with my little 4k action cam but they were not very clear?
What a wonderful story! I am glad you were able to find these beautiful flowers! It's amazing what happens when you just let nature take over!
Nature knows best. I never use weed removers or anything like that and just trim the bushes and grass and am pleasantly surprised by the number of flowers that just pop up on there own accord. Magical.
Oh, that does sound magical! You will have to share more pictures one day!
I'll sprinkle them in when I figure out the whole colour challenge thing. I thought it was for just flowers lol Dooh!
Such beautiful images @molometer ~ Especially the first image ~ The composition really does have strong associations with what I imagine an English country garden would feel like.
It's amazing what one can do with the camera one has. For me, it's not just about the technical quality of an image but the magic one sees before photographing. When that 'magical moment' comes through in an image, everyone picks up on it. 🐋🌸🐋
Thank you @allyinspirit my garden is pretty typical. We do have an very temperate climate so most anything will grow here.
Great post
Thank you
Thank you for your kind words.
