Common Wood Pigeon - #featheredfriday

in #busy7 years ago

It has been an interesting few days since the new bird feeders where put up and we are getting quite a few different types of birds dropping in for #featheredfriday hosted by @melinda010100.

I am relatively new to this whole bird watching thing but it is a lot easier when the birds come to you.

While I can see the attraction of twitching. The idea of schlepping around looking for birds is pretty unattractive and inefficient? imo.

These Common Wood Pigeon (Columba palumbus) are pretty plump and are members of the Dove family. I not certain but I think these are the pigeons that are used in cooking? Pigeon pie etc.

What's better than one Wood Pigeon? Two Wood Pigeons! - Especially if you are thinking of making a pie?

This one is looking one way and the other ones looking the other way and asking.

Hey! What do you want from me?

Name the movie that these lines above are from. 100% upvote for the first right answer

The common wood pigeon is a large species in the dove and pigeon family. It belongs to the genus Columba and, like all pigeons and doves, belongs to the family Columbidae

Just to reassure you. I didn't eat the Pigeons but I now know where to get some if things get tight. :-)

Thanks for reading. That's all folks!

Howdy sir molometer! Man, you got some great birds visiting! That's definitely the way to bird watch. I have no clue on the two lines.

Hi Janton, yep this is the ideal solution to bird watching. Just put out some food and they all turn up :-)

You will have to wait a bit to find out what movie the lines came from. Just to give people a chance to answer the question.

Howdy again sir molometer! Do you put certain types of food to attract certain birds or all birds basically eat the same type of food like seeds and nuts?

Yep it's just seeds and nuts but they go crazy for the fat balls.

I have no clue what is in them but they go bonkers when we hang them up? 😀

Fat balls? Is that something you buy in a store I assume?

Yep, they are balls of some kind of fat with seeds and nuts incorporated into them. The birds love them.

Thanks sir molometer! I'll remember that when we set up feeders. Hey, do you know anything about the Windows operating systems? Mrs. J.'s is a Windows 7 but they said they were stopping support and updates for that old system. Do you know if we can upgrade for free or do we have to pay for an upgrade?

I just used my palcoin for the first time to give your comment an upvote. This is fun. :-)

oh very cool, thank you and I think Palnet has everything to be very successful!
