I took a trip into Cambridge a couple of days ago to visit the new Raspberry Pi store. The company has released a new version of their small form computer the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B.
This is the first time in the history of this company that they have opened a shop. Which seems a bit weird as most shops seem to be abandoning the high street?
Red raspberry pi shop
The staff were very helpful and we discussed the option of using this tiny computer as a web server and some other things. They also explained that they decided to open the shop when the electronics retailer Maplins went bust as a way to reach out to the general public.
Pi 4 tech specs
I use the Raspberry Pi to teach students/people how to program computers using Python. It can run just about any open source software including operating systems and even Windows 10.
The bench tests seem to indicate that this new model has some significant speed advantages over the previous model.
Why am I telling you all this?
It may be possible to run an instance of the steemit #condenser using the #MIRA framework on a small cluster of these devices. Set up costs less that $150.
I am investigating the potential for the general public to run steem built and backed websites out of the box.

Great to hear that they have released it now. I had the first Pi and the second as a self made autoguider before i switched to a pc for guiding and imaging.
That's interesting to hear Kevin, the Pi has always been a very versatile platform.
I going to be testing the new Model B to see if it is capable of running a steem node?
Yes, it is. Unfortunately, the problem was Linux. All this astro software is based on Windows. I only was able to get Lin_Guider running on it.
I also think to get a new one for some "play around". I think I have read somewhere that it is possible with MIRA to run a node on a Raspi.
I have always been fascinated by the Raspberry Pi devices and considered getting one to play around with but never have its something i must do sometime
It is a lot of fun but also a very practical dirt cheap computer. You'd be amazed what can be done with them. They can run just about anything that a full sized desktop PC can run.
Ohh yes I have been following many projects with them it is pretty amazing what they can do
Howdy sir molometer! Very interesting and I hope that shop has great success!
Yep, it's their first shop. Interesting to me as it seems that every other shop is struggling to stay viable?
Howdy today sir molometer! It IS very unusual when everyone seems to shop for electronics online these days but I hope they know what they're doing and that they succeed. They drew you in! lol.
My wife told me about the new shop so I had to go check it out as it is quite an interesting move on their part. I'm pretty sure that they have done the math on it lol
lol! Yes, I'm sure it's not a huge gamble, some smart people there!
