Tree Tuesday in Cambridge

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

On a trip to Cambridge the other day with my American cousin Bob who is over for a holiday. We stopped off for him to get some photos of the River Cam. I have loads of photos of the river so while he was off snapping away I took this photo of a lovely big tree. I think it is a Plain tree.

These cottages overlook the park area and are largely student accommodation. What a lovely place to wake up every morning before going off for a lecture.

You may notice the bicycles leaning up against the railings. These are the primary form of transport that many people use in Cambridge. It's is a very pretty university city and has many open green spaces like these all over the centre of the city. You are never far from a park.

Many of these open green places are ** 'common land'.** It means that if you are a freeman of the city you can graze your livestock on these open spaces. You will in fact often see cattle and rare breed sheep grazing away merrily.rare breed sheep grazing.jpg

Cambridge is a stunningly beautiful city with amazing architecture which I will be sharing with you here on steemit.

I love the quaint buildings, the beautiful grazing sheep, the park. That is what makes a walk so pleasant. I hope Bob has a nice time visiting!

Bob was super happy with the days shoot. We visited a few places. I have a lot of video of the day and may put it on YouTube on Saturday if I get it edited in time lol

How delightful! I wish my dorms looked like that with that view! And how fun it must be to see the animals grazing there!

It must be lovely and relaxing I agree. My Uni days were nothing like this. Just hard work lol

that is a grand looking tree and many a student here would love accommodation like the ones there so close to a nice park

I agree they are very lucky to learn in such a beautiful and historic place.
