A beautiful new morning to us all
It is indeed a blessed day today, I had a long and refreshing sleep thanks to ibuprofen that helped me stay relieved of the pains and stress I was feeling.
The weather has been friendly up until now even though there is no rain, the scourging sun were covered by the clouds all day protecting us from excess heat
By this time we have hoped that the cultivation of land and serious farming would have commenced already but everywhere is still quiet and calm.
Although we had one major heavy downpour some few days ago and had started clearing the lands for farming, there is yet another of such experience that will lead to the commencement of cultivation and planting
Starting with this corn we are highly expectant of when it's harvest will come. Having seen recently how corn has been imported from other state to this place for people to roast and eat. Preparing and eating fresh corn is one food habit that is common here. People can eat freshly roasted corns as lunch without bothering you eat anything else . Anytime corn is in season, it becomes a major food for us
There are many different types of food recipe that corn can be prepared into both when they are fresh or when they have been proceed to become dried and in powdered form. This makes corn a very important crop to us
No sooner has these stalks start to bear fruit we now have insects and birds waiting to have their own share of the food. It is usually an extra work for us to keep watch over these crops in order to keep away any destructive animals or birds
Now whenever it comes to the riverbank farming of the dry season like this, not many people engage in planting corn or as many crop types as possible. A lot of persons just plant vegetables in which they will not have any problems with them regarding birds or other animals feeding in them.
The quantity of corn planted within this area is not much and concentrated in just one or two persons farm. Due to this all the hungry birds will channel their attention in this direction and one have to stay active to keep off these animals. Within a short time period they can do more harm than good to any farm they attack.
When the raining seasons comes and everyone plants corn in their farm there is usually a spread of this attack and much food on every side for the birds to feed on. By so doing a farming wouldn't have to bother about extra care for the crops as the attack is minimal for everyone.
They feed on every farm randomly and the damage is hardly noticed or felt, hence there is usually more work to do on the farm at this time protecting the crop.
We have removed about 3-5stalks that have been poorly damaged already.
