RE: The Slow Death Spiral Has a Root Cause: The Name "Hive"

Interesting perspective. I think branding and first impressions really matter in crypto, especially for attracting new users outside the existing community. At the same time, strong utility and real projects built on Hive will probably matter even more in the long run.

Sort:

A network can only have real utility value if it grows. The value comes from what it can facilitate between people, and without people finding and being on the network, it can't provide that utility value.

There could be better solutions than simply changing the name. The main problem is user retention. When new users join and start creating content, they often receive little or no support. Even quality posts can go unnoticed without meaningful upvotes.
Hive needs better ways to encourage and motivate new users to continue creating quality content. If users stay active and feel supported, they will naturally invite more people through word of mouth.
