For the quick and easy preparation of homemade bread for approximately 10 or 12 portions, for a basic dough to make bread with ingredients in everyone's pocket; we need the following:
1000 grams or 1 kilogram of baking flour or all-purpose flour (plus approximately one cup needed for shaping the bread and in case it is necessary to obtain a more manageable dough)
-14g instant yeast
-200 grams sugar
-200 ml vegetable oil
-400 ml water
-1 teaspoon of salt
If you need to obtain a more nutritious dough, you can replace the 400 ml of water with 400 ml of liquid milk and the 200 grams of butter with 200 ml of olive oil; also add 2 eggs and 1 spoonful of vanilla essence. I particularly like to substitute the milk for the water when I have it available, as well as adding eggs and vanilla. If by chance I don't have butter, I substitute it with butter or vegetable oil, the same with the sugar I substitute it with papier-mâché. You must be very creative, remember that we Venezuelans are characterized by it and more in these moments of pandemic that we go through
¿Cuánto gastaremos?/ How much will we spend?
- Aceite vegetal: 358.000,00
-1 kilo de Sal: 120.000,00
As I didn't have some ingredients in the house, I encouraged myself and went to the supermarket that is close to where I live, to buy what I needed; take advantage then of looking for the general budget of all the ingredients, so I make things easier for you to encourage or run away with the prices. I particularly like to buy in packages of a kilo, so I keep for later recipes or for home use, the cost of the same per unit in Bs, are as follows:
1 kilo of all-purpose flour: 290,000.00
1 envelope of instant yeast: 60.000,00
1 kilo Sugar: 260,000.00
Vegetable oil: 358.000,00
1 kilo of salt: 120,000.00
After I had bought and found out all the ingredients, I went to my local market to give them options to choose from and compare prices. It turns out that if you buy in cash, you get a better deal, approximately saving up to 40% of what we can spend with a card. So they already have the data, we always have to compare prices, to save as much as we can and invest in other things
####¿Cómo lo preparamos?/ How do we prepare it?
If you have never made homemade bread, don't worry... here I will show you how to make it and you will see that you will like it, the recipe in spite of being easy and perfect to begin with, I assure you that very soon you will be encouraged to make it
The first thing I do is put 400 milliliters of water to warm, as soon as you feel the heat, then we pass it to a plastic container and add the yeast with 2 spoons of sugar, beat it quickly with the help of a whisk or a fork until the yeast is dissolved, this mixture is reserved well covered and covered with a clean cloth, this is done with the idea of activating the yeast and know if it is suitable or not to make our breads, this process can take about half an hour or until you see bubbles
On the other hand, put in a large plastic container, the baking flour, the remaining sugar, oil, salt and stir with the help of a palette or knead all this with your hands, until all the ingredients are integrated.
Once the yeast is activated, we incorporate it into the previous mixture with the help of a trowel or knead it. Once everything has been integrated, we pass the mixture to a counter or table previously sprinkled with flour on the surface, to prevent the dough from sticking
We start kneading with the palms of our hands with encircling movements, until we get a shiny dough and when you achieve this; you put the finger that you prefer, eye without perversity please, hahahahaha... if you observe that after having left a deep hole, the dough returns to look for its consistency; it is ready. But if, on the contrary, you have a hard dough, you should moisten your hands a little bit in water or milk until you achieve that elasticity in the dough
Immediately, reserve the dough covered with a clean cloth until it doubles in size. This procedure is very variable, depending on the humidity and temperature of the room, and can be done in about 30 minutes to 1 hour or even longer; if we want to speed it up, we can put it near the oven when it is turned on. If we are in too much of a hurry, with the oven on at a low temperature (less than 80ºC), we turn it off and put it in a container that can withstand heat and covered with a cloth, leaving it lightly inside
Later, we smear vegetable oil with the help of a brush or cloth that I have for it to the molds or metal container that we will use to make the bread, either round or rectangular
Once the dough has been lifted, we must knead it with encircling movements with the help of the palms of our hands, to get the air out of it. With the dough ready, we weigh about 650 grams of dough and with the help of a rolling pin we stretch it out to form a circle. Or simply weigh 125 grams of dough and form little balls with it, stretch with a roller then roll from the inside out and give the bread its shape. We close the ends, introducing them inwards. I made both presentations, round and long bread
We put in the aluminum molds that we grease later. And we take a sharp knife and make several diagonal cuts in the top of the bread. We let it rest, covered with a cloth in a very hot place and away from drafts, until it doubles its volume. Be patient in this case.
Once the bread has doubled in volume, remove the cloth and carefully paint the entire surface with beaten egg or milk with a brush so that the bread is golden and provocative. We must do this very delicately as we can spoil the bread
Previously, the oven must be preheated to 180º Centigrade, we introduce the trays in it, for a time of 25 or 30 minutes or until the bread begins to brown. After leaving the oven, it is left to cool down to room temperature. Once it has cooled down, take it out carefully and place it on a clean tray
When I finished, I felt like eating my freshly warmed bread and I had a hot chocolate ready. I didn't want to wait any longer, so all my children came... and it turned out that even those who weren't there appeared to claim their portion, hahaha... to eat, they said family.
I do not want to say goodbye, without first giving you my most sincere thanks for having come this far, bye until the next meeting
