I’m a people’s person and this means that I happen to know a lot of people. That’s what you expect when you find yourself in my line of work. You know almost everyone but a few of them are the only people you’re close to. But then, you know how sometimes those people you barely know show up for you in the biggest of ways.
This isn’t a movie but a real life story of how someone I barely knew became a safe space for me. I knew this person way back in school. We were just people who happen to cross paths all the time because of proximity. But we happen to become friends over time. But you know how some school friendships can be. It’s not that deep. Once you go home on vacation, you forget each other and pick it off when you meet in school again.
So, a couple years back, I happen to be going through a very hard time- I mean the kind you can’t talk to anyone about and all you can do is cry and pray to God for a miracle. Surprisingly, this friend of mine noticed something was wrong with me and asked about it. I brushed it off and they also didn’t push it. But one day, this person visited me and found me crying in my room.
From the onwards, I didn’t have to carry the burden alone. It was a silent support. My friend showed me up for me all the time in subtle ways. I didn’t need to always talk about things, but kg heart healed amidst the silence. All of a sudden, everything seemed like it never happened because all that was bothering me just went away. I always call that a miracle from God but I also never forget the person that stood with me through it all.
Life can be hard sometimes, but having people who care about you hold your hand along the way is something you should be grateful for
