Patriotism is showing love and readiness to serve one country be it in peace or dire situation..
This,being a frustrating and irritating concept in this clime of ours is a dupery platitude employed by every politicians in Nigeria to cajole and rouse hapless masses to vote them in.
Nigeria is a country where all laws are workable in stark ironical terms! Where selfish and uncaring leaders manifest utter madness in delirious idiocy as distinguished senators consistently embroil in embarrassing fisticuffs and untoward vituperations towards one another thereby turning the state highest law making house into a mad camp!
Nigerian leaders seems to be absorbed in themselves alone;to enrich themselves at the expense of the toiling masses yet they preach patriotism. Is the inherent stealing and corruption permeating the entire system they held justifiable by their preachings? Absolute no! Nigerian politicians have the dubious expertise to twist the rules of the land to escape punishment! Yet they love to see patriotic citizens putting theit life on the line.
Similarly,we are all aware of countless sportsmen and academicians who are world performers in their field pledging support for foreign colours. They fled the state of doom and damnation for a sanctuary which offer them optimum capacity to expand and explore. Should we tag these people unpatriotic or faithless Infidels?
What's the significant compensation for Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi, the man who designed the Nigerian flag? and yet these coven of brutes chant patriotism. What pleasant memories do you hope a man who witnessed his own old aged pensioner father denied or delayed of his gratuities convey to his children? How accurate or perspicacious do you think my explanations would be believed in the future telling my kids the outrageous and mind boggling figures stashed away from the economic treasury, the net worth of most individual politicians and dismal state of the poor in the same country? And yet they preach patriotism.
How on earth do you expect me to be patriotic in a country am not love or cherish? How do I stay patriotic in a country with little regards for human life and sustainability? The most exasperating part is seeing these murderous,legal robbers shrink from official duties that won't feather their nest and expect struggling masses to be patriotic and even extending this to a chauvinistic level!
And if you are called upon by two disproportionate society of deficiency and sufficiency as per equitable distribution of human and natural resources to expand your capacity and influence rapid growth,which one will you choose? Let your response ring a bell... We masses are neither puppets nor gullible beings.
