Hi everyone, and welcome back to my Splinterlands Blog, today I'll be writing about the changes the game went trough, is it good and why, and how the rewards are compared to before and the differences in both leagues.

Last month, the Splinterlands team finally listened to the community and banned bots from Modern League which changed everything, for the better in my opinion!
I'm a Silver player so maybe it's different for older players or players who compete in the upper leagues, but I think most players agree, this fixed and maybe saved the game.
Before the change, I was fighting 95% bots at the start of the season, and when I climbed higher in the ranks I found more human players but still I think I fought around 75% bots. And while most bots performance isn't great and my winrate was pretty high against them, it isn't fun just to grind and see a lot of the same teams being played by the bots.
On my alt account, with only level 2 summoners it could be a challenge to beat them sometimes, so for new players it must have been even worse.
Besides that it wasn't real fun and sometimes frustrating to get beaten by bots, it hurts the economy because the massive bot farms kept selling the SPS they earned, which is the main reason SPS dropped so low.
Every bad side has an upside though, I don't mind buying SPS at the lows! 😁
With my main account, with a high Silver level deck I was earning between 0.15 and 0.3 SPS every win, and I earned between 8 and 12 chests daily.
So what changed?
Well, to start, in Modern it's more fun but also more challenging! Having human players with creative thinking, you never know for sure what they are going to play. A good player won't spam the same team over and over, I don't complain if my opponent does of course, it's an easy counter most of the times!
When the change was implemented, I was on holiday so I stopped playing for 1 season, and because of this, I ended up in Bronze again, and boy it was hard climbing out of Bronze!
It was just like it was when I started playing in August 2021, seeing a LOT of Mylor, Yodin and Llama/Kron.
The strange thing was, as soon as I got in Silver and I could use the full strength of my deck, I wasn't facing all these expensive teams anymore so as soon as I got to Silver 3, it was a straight push to Silver 2 without any losses.
Basically, SPS rewards have gone up pretty good, but because my winrate is lower, I don't earn the same amount of chests I was getting before the change.
I am earning between 0.7 and 1.6 SPS every win now, which is roughly 5x what it used to be!
I'm only getting between 5 and 8 chests every day now, so less chance to het those juicy legendary cards.
In Modern, my winrate was about 70-75% before the change because of the many poor bots out there, right now, I'm at 54.3% which isn't bad at all I think, considered I needed to climb out of Bronze first.
Is Wild League still playable?
Yes it is, but that's where all the bots are now of course. On one side I hope the ban will also be implemented to Wild, but then again, what will the bot farm owners do? right now they still have a place to be active with their bots, if they can't go anywhere, do are going to search for workarounds or dump their cards on the market.
Of course we already seen a lot of cards getting dumped when this change was announced, I was gladly buying them! Cards too prices for me in the past, suddenly got better prices so I picked up some beauties like the Coral Wraith and Pirate Archer.
Before the change, I played both Modern and Wild, when my rating got too high and I started getting very good opponents, I switched leagues to maximize my earnings. I thought this wouldn't be possible anymore because in Modern there is 4-5 times more SPS to be earned than in Wild at the moment.
Well... at around 2000 rating at this moment of the season is where I started to get kicked down again so I decided I would just try it in Wild again, and because this is where the bots are, it's a lot easier to get more wins!
I just started testing this today, but so far my winrate is 79.4%
Around 1700 rating, I'm seeing more human players again.
I'm getting between 0.18 and 0.33 SPS every win and earning more chests because of the higher winrate, so the earnings in Wild are comparable with before the change.
I'm at 9 chests for today so far so that's also the same as before.
Is it worth while to start now with Splinterlands as a new player?
Considering we are in a bear market and everything is relatively low priced, I think it is worth it, I think this game will have a future and assets will spike in the next bullrun.
With the SPS staking requirement it's not cheap to start but (No Financial Advice) it might be a nice investment to buy the required SPS at these relatively low prices.
SPS is currently selling for $0.022 / SPS.

That's it for this post, I still need to cover this weeks Battle Mage Secrets too, but since I didn't save a Lost Legendaries battle.. I need to wait until I get one in my ranked battles and win it 😆.
