Hello beautiful people. Hope you all are doing amazingly well today. Really, there are so many amazing stories in the bible which has really deep meanings we can figure out from them. This time around, lets talk about the story of David and Goliat in 1 Sam 17.

I'm sure many of us know the whole story, but let me brief you again. War broke out and the Isrealites were so afraid to face the Philistines especially with the fact that a man named Goliat was their leader. But David told Saul that he was going to face him.

Now Goliath was between nearly 7–10 feet tall. His sword was minimum 6 feet long while David was a very young boy who was not so reckoned with from the house of Saul and would have had to be at minimum as tall as Goliath's sword.

When David said he was going to face Goliat, Saul replied and said, he cannot go to fight him because he was a young man. But David said to Saul that he had been keeping his father’s sheep. He said he has fought a lion and killed it. He said he had killed both the lion and the bear and that this uncircumcised Philistine(Goliat) will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God.

David further said that the Lord who rescued him from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will again rescue me from the hand of Goliat. Wow such a strong heart and believe in the Lord. How many of us can do this nowadays?

With all the things David said, Saul just had to say, “Go, and the Lord be with you.” I'm sure that he must have had doubted what he said and might have even counted him as a forgotten one. Lets see what happened.

David went to the sea shore and picked up 5 stones and his sling to go fight Goliat. The Goliat we are talking about is shielded all over the body that no one could believe what happened could happen. With the 5 stones and sling, Goliat got angry and said "Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?" He further said, "Come here and i'll give your body to the birds and the wild animals!"

David now said to the Philistine, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied." Wow! Such audacity! We were made to believe that the 5 stones means J.E.S.U.S and I sure believe it. Trust me David was already backed up by the host of heaven and he wasn't speaking by himself. Now the question here is, "Who is your back-up"?

David went on and boldly said

This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel.

All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.

As Goliat moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. He reached out into his bag and took out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. Amazing!!!
This one stone sank into Goliat's forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground. Wow!

Its amazing to know that David triumphed over the Philistine with just a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand. David didn't stop at throwing the stone, he also ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine’s sword and drew it from the sheath. After he killed him, he still cut off his head with the sword. Jesus is amazing!!!

When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran. Ofcourse they had no choice, they just had to run and the Israelites even chased them the more as far as Gath and the gates of Ekron.

This story is used to describe a situation in which a small or weak person to defeat another much larger or stronger opponent. From this Bible story in which Goliath, a giant, is killed by the small boy David with a stone, it makes us realize that our God is more than enough to deliver and to save us from those who we think are mightier than us.

David hurls a stone from his sling and hits Goliath right in the center of his forehead, that was obviously the only space remaining that wasn't shielded. God works in mighty and mysterious ways, all we need to do is to believe in him and all things will fall into place, no matter how high the mountain is, it will become plain. No matter how people have mocked you that you can't get to where you have been destined to, God is alive and able to take you there and even far above your imagination.

It's great to have read this again...
So he had 5 stones with him but all he nneded was one stone?

Just like we don't necessarily need the hand of God in our lives, just one finger changes things for the better.
