I was hunting a sunbird when all of a sudden, this drone appeared to take a shot of me.
So, the hunter became the hunted, as someone had a look at me, and I lifted my hand in a wave with a smile of course.
But I think that the drone hunter saw that he had mistaken my camera's zoom, as it zeroed in on his drone. The whirr sound of the drone alerted me, and as I swung around, there it was hovering about in the air, with its lens focussed on me. So, I instantly jumped onto the zoom, and I let him have it. Yep, I bet that the drone operator saw the extended turret of my camera's zoom lens, and the drone departed in a hurry.
A first for me to see this, and I had no complaints, as I was standing in the open, and anyone could take shots of me, be it with a drone or a camera. No worry and I just continued to track the little sunbird, as you will see below.
But first let me show you how the drone took off.
The drone started to swing around.
Showed me its rear view.
And then it was gone to wherever it came from.
Everything took place in a few minutes, and I was happy to see that the little sunbird was still hanging around. Maybe he was also watching the drone.
In any case, he took shelter behind a branch in case the drone also wanted to take a shot of him :)
Then he hopped back into the tree that he landed on, and it was a Southern Double-collared sunbird.
I knew that the female would be around somewhere, and I got her on camera on another bush.
I scanned the mountains for the drone, but it was nowhere in sight.
Just to end off the post with a lovely cloud shot.
I am at that stage of my life, that I don't worry anymore about the little things that appear in my life. Years ago, I would have tried to take that drone down with a well-aimed stoned, but now it doesn't even irritate me. To get upset about the little things in life, such as this occasion with the drone, would just be to raise my blood pressure and that would have meant a harm to my health, as at my age it doesn't help to have excess stress.
That drone had every right to take a shot of me, and I had every right to wave and smile at it. This is just the way that I see life now. Be happy everyday as it will bring peace into one's heart, and that's all that I really want in my golden years. Enough of hassling about the little things, and about this and that, as life is supposed to be enjoyed in our short journeys on this planet. Especially, as lately it feels that the seconds fly past every day, so we have to make each second matter.
Such is life.

Drones can be annoying, but they are everywhere anymore. Not around here much thank goodness due to airports being too close and the government restricts their flight within a certain distance of airports. But beaches are a different story, there you are fair game! Nice shots of the drone, they must not have had much interest in you since you were photographing it too! lol
Nice shots of the sunbirds, those males really are pretty aren't they? I imagine birds would tend to avoid drones assuming them to be some sort of predator. So they wisely hid in the branches as to not be seen!
It's good that you have mellowed out with age, yes, a well thrown rock wouldn't have done that drone any favors. But then you get some irate and crazy drone owner after you. Who needs that? Plus, like you said, why get your blood pressure all worked up over a stupid drone. It's just the world today... If Amazon gets their way soon they will be delivering packages everywhere to save the cost of paying drivers. Corporations will go to any lengths to save a dollar...

Nah, I don't care about the drones, and maybe it was just an inquisitive soul. You are right about them being all over, and once upon a time, I was also one that considered to get a drone, but then I lost interest :)
Maybe, but I don't know why the birds think that it's a predator, but I think that they are careful about the appearance of any foreign flying object.
Mellow yellow is what I am, and I had the same thought about a drone operator hunting me because I damaged his drone :)
No need for arguments and peace reigns in my life now. Corporations are a big issue as soon many drivers will become unemployed and replaced by drones. We are already struggling with huge numbers of unemployed people here.
Such should not be life :)
