Time Chunking

in GEMS6 years ago

Have you had a lot on your plate recently and it got you wondering "why do I have to go through this or when will this be over?" You are not alone.
I had so many deadlines to meet recently and I almost got to my breaking point. I was tired mentally and physically. I started feeling sorry for myself and most people in similar conditions. But then I had rethink and realized that I should be happy instead. Having so much responsibilities meant that I have become stronger and more dependable. I must instead live up to expectations.

I was eventually able to work some things out, and meet all deadlines. But I still had some things to do. This made me realize that it is true when people say "work does not finish"work truly never ends. It is continuous. There is always something to be done, a goal to meet, help to render, chores to carry out.

How then do we keep working hard but avoiding burn outs in the process?

Burnout is when you are so tired that you no longer have the motivation to work

By practicing time management, we can carry out all task, avoiding burnouts in the process. A type of skill which can help with managing your time is Time Chunking.

Time Chunking is the process of breaking up your day into larger chunks .The more chunks of time you can devote to specific tasks, the distractions you will have, and your efficiency improves .

Time chunking is when you manage your time to achieve more productivity. It is taking short rests in between work period. For instance you work at a stretch for 50 mins or 60 mins then you rest for 10 mins or 15 mins. What makes this process more beneficial is the fact that you can achieve smaller goals during those short breaks.

Goals such as load the washing machine, feed the children, Eat personally, quickly fix a snack or coffee.
