Femi stared at the bag sitting comfortably on his desk. He didn't know if he should jump up in excitement or freak out. Just a few moments ago he was wondering where his next meal would come from and now he had a bag filled with cash in his room. From the look of things, Femi was convinced it was probably a couple of millions inside. He could tell because the currency was a foreign one, the bag was filled with dollars.

Femi was still contemplating on what move he should take when he heard a knock on his door.

He froze at once.

His ears stood at attention, listening for the next knock. Then it came. There was someone knocking on his door. He moved slowly towards his door, as if scared of whoever was on the other side. Then he peeped through the keyhole. What he saw made his legs wobbly and he quickly held something to avoid himself from falling.

Earlier that day, Femi had been on his way home from the Dean's office where he had been given an ultimatum to pay up his fees or risk being punished. He had taken a shorter route home because he had no money to pay the bus fair when the sounds of gunshot filled the deserted area. He had immediately taken cover. The place was a bushy path, thus, it looked lonely and abandoned so it was no surprised that the robbers made use of that road.

There were about three of them. They all had masks on so Femi could not tell what their faces looked like. Each of them had a bag swung over their shoulders. Femi was convinced without a doubt that those bags were filled with cash. Then Femi noticed something, there was a fourth robber. The man seemed to be in pain. He had arrived later than the others and that was why Femi had not seen him the first time. He too had a bag of his own.

“I can't go any further.” the fourth robber said and placed the bag on the floor before sitting right next to it. “I've been shot”

“We have to keep moving” another of the robbers said. “The police will be here any minute.” He continued and tried to get the fourth robber on his feet. The man got up but the moment his bag was placed on his shoulder, he yelped out.

“Hide the bag, we will come back for it.” another of the robber said. They were running out of time.

Femi watched in silence as the robbers carefully hid the bag before running off. He immediately came out of his hiding place and went to carry the bag. Like the robbers said, the police would be here any minute, so he quickly ran home.

Femi was certain no one had seen him take the bag home but someone must have, because the police were at his door.
