in Hive Book Club10 months ago

Hello friends, I hope you’re all doing well. Today I want to share something a book. It is not even hundreds of pages long and is able to make an impression. There are situations that a couple of sweet words and some considerate drawings are enough to make us freeze and think about it, to feel being understood. The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse is a books that talks to the heart in a hush. It is a subtle reminder of kindness and courage, and friendship strength, which every one of us should get in our lives once in a while.

  Book Summary

A short illustrated work The Boy The Mole The Fox and the Horse is a short book written and illustrated by the Charlie Mackesy. It is the story of a boy, whom, after visiting the village alone, meets three anthropomorphic animals a mole that loves cake, a paranoid fox and a sensible horse. In modest chats and contemplation, the four establish a special connection in their travels through a smooth terrain of land, water and air.

The book is not written in the form of the beginning, middle, end. Rather, it is an album of touching conversations and scenes, all of which incorporate a message. Such quotes as the most courageous thing that one said is answered as What is the bravest thing you have ever said? Help or Being kind to yourself is one of the greatest kindnesses is followed by emotional ink graphics that speak as much as the very words.

  My Review

Reading this book was kind of a warm chat with a long-time friend. It is silent, straight to the point and has great meaning to it. The characters, despite a lack of deep development in terms of the traditional concept, are the tools that describe the various aspects of our personalities, the nostalgic little boy, the starved youthful imagination, the anxious mind and the voice of wisdom. Such small sincere conversations of theirs caused me to pause and evaluate my own life, my own fears, my own hopes.

I particularly liked the fact that it promotes self-compassion. Living in a world where everything is expected to constantly be a success and near perfection, this book reminds us that being friendly, seeking assistance, and just existing is good enough. The words appear to be improved by the illustrations that create a charming and emotional layer, rough, free-flowing, and expressive.

It cannot be classified as one of the books that you read once and forget. It is there to go back to, even during quiet evenings, or when you need some reassurance. It was something new and healing to me as it reminded me about the beauty of vulnerability and connection. Thank you.
