Work-in-Progress: One Bitcoin Club's Tiers? V4V.app and Xverse?

in One Bitcoin Club9 months ago (edited)

No matter where we live, attempting to generate more than one income stream is a wise investment of our time.  While it would be nice to pretend there is a magic money tree somewhere, ...

The latest test, to see if my lead image appears this time, publishing with One Bitcoin Club's UI, as the code behind this image cannot be more basic.

(continuing on) ... it does not exist.  Said differently, there is no something for nothing anywhere.  Work is required.

Where will we decide to put in the necessary time and effort?

Here on the Hive blockchain, an option for our consideration is the newly created One Bitcoin Club (OBC).  As should be expected, given how recently it was created, it is a work-in-progress.

Here are some remaining questions about the concepts behind the vision for how this new community will function.

Xverse Wallet Tiers

Tiers in crypto are common.  We need look no further than the Hive blockchain itself, for examples.  They are quite well known and understood, as it is my understanding they have been around for years:

  • Dolphin: 5,000 HIVE
  • Orca: 50,000 HIVE
  • Whale: 500,000 HIVE

In my first visit to the One Bitcoin Club UI, these were the tiers found:

As we can see, it appears the initial thought was to set up tiers just like what everyone has experienced on the Hive blockchain.

Currently, this is what we see:

Source: QT's quick calc spreadsheet

These calculations were based on the current price of Bitcoin at
± $88,000 per BTC
.

In my last post, in response to my question (#3) about these tiers , @starkerz replied with this:

"amount of BTC in your Xverse wallet only affects which feed you can post in. if you have a lot of BTC, you can post in feeds with bigger BTC holders"

Leading to these follow-up questions:

  1. Stating the obvious, there is an enormous gap between 5,000 Sats and 0.5 BTC, which is what we see now.

  2. In either case, what is the point of members reaching these higher tiers?

________________________

I am still waiting to hear back.

I currently have 100,000 Sats in my Xverse wallet.  I originally put this amount in as double the amount required for the 50,000 Sats tier showing in the One Bitcoin Club UI originally.

While capable of raising this level considerably, I currently have no idea why I would consider doing that.  I hope this is cleared up, in the not too distant future.

Member's V4V.app versus Xverse Wallets

Related to the above, OBC members have BTC in two different wallets.  One is an L1 and one is an L2 wallet, as explained in detail, in my earlier post.

  1. If there are going to be tiers, in OBC's future, will the Sats in both wallets be counted?

  2. If only the Sats in our Xverse wallet will be counted, what is the best way to transfer our Sats, from our V4V.app wallet to our Xverse wallet?

Whatever the answer, perhaps the VSC Network has a solution for this challenge already in the works.  You may want to follow the @vsc.network account, so you will see any updates in your feed.  The last one was in November, so maybe soon?

A.O.B. (Any Other Business)

Current issues, awaiting resolution, were first covered in my earlier post.  Here is an update:

  • The beginning of this post is coded with my latest effort to help isolate the source of the problem with my lead image being hidden.  I will let @breakaway-dev how that works out.

  • On my last OBC post, I was rewarded with my first Sats!
  • This confirmed what I had hoped.  This issue was not due to something missing in how I had set up my OBC-related wallets.

  • Unfortunately, this reward was only for the @btc4content wallet's transaction for this last post.  I am still waiting for the missing Sats from the two previous btc4content wallet transactions:

    1. Transaction #1
    2. Transaction #2

@starkerz let me know this was an issue for @brianoflondon to resolve, with his @v4vapp.  The rewards in HBD were sent.

While waiting, I have noticed Brian has not had any activity on his account since March 13th.  I hope he is doing okay, given all of the trouble in his part of the world.

Postscript

It has been my practice, so far at least, to slowly work on creating my posts over a period of time. That includes this one.

    • It is still not clear to me what tripwire I might inadvertently stumble through in mentioning other accounts.  Given this exchange took place in the comments under my last post and is very much related to the topic of this post, I assume it will be allowed.  If not, please let me know.

Before publishing it, I came across this lively exchange between @starkerz and @stayoutoftherz, in which Starkerz states the following:

"This system is really aimed at newcomers to the chain to give them an experience of earning sats for their content."

I think I like the sounds of that, as it could apply to me.  I have seen glimpses of posts about other efforts, though, to bring in users from outside the Hive blockchain.  This is what StayoutofHerz seemed to take from the exchange.

Either way, I found this exchange illuminating.  Anyone reading this post likely will as well.  If nothing else, it underscores my reference to work-in-progress in this and previous posts.

________________________

It was nice to see this exchange appears to have ended amicably.

As it does not really address or change anything I already had written, I will go ahead and publish this post shortly.

While the recent history of Bitcoin has shaken the confidence of some, I believe it is always prudent to keep a long-term perspective.  From that perspective, I am bullish, in general.

In particular, I am bullish on the opportunity to apply a DCA strategy to investing in BTC via our contributions to building up the One Bitcoin Club.

It is hard to imagine there are not many people active on the Hive blockchain who would not agree. Hopefully they will all eventually find out about this new community and take the necessary steps to join it.

________________________

Adoption of it will undoubtedly be helped along, by getting some of these questions answered and issues ironed out, at the earliest opportunity.

I will close with an appeal to @starkerz, to just keep members of his new community informed, as I am sure we all can understand it takes time and effort to build it.  Part of which is ensuring any voids in communicating do not stay that way for long.

I am standing by, willing and able to help, if there is anything I can do, from my side.

Best wishes, until we meet again,
QT

You are very diligent, I like it :)

Regarding the Hive tiers, they increase over time and by now you need to have almost 6000 Hive for a dolphin, 60K for an orca and 600K for a whale
image.png
The tiers on OBC appear to be currently 5000 Sats, 0,5 BTC and 1 BTC at least as they show up on the frontend (unlike what you have written from an to me unknown source).
I fully agree that those tiers make no sense, not only from the huge size but also what is the point of a section open visible to all, but only being able to post if I had deposited 0,5 or even 1 BTC to a browser-based wallet (the most unsecure type of all). I could, but that seems way to risky.

I am writing currently a review of OBC from my experience, the 30% beneficiary resulting in 1000 Sats is still something that doesn´t add up. Can´t recommend OBC to Hivians at all right now (unless the expect hardly any rewards at all, in that case the 1000 Sats are a win).

oh je, dann werd ich nie Wal, wird ja immer höher die Grenze - muss schauen dass ich Orca Status halte :-)

Wenn man nicht runterpowert, sollte das kein Problem sein :)

Dauert aber länger als leben werde :-)

Thank you kindly for noticing, @stayoutoftherz. Far be it from me to argue. Hahaha ... 😉

Thank you, as well, for pointing out the details of how Hive tiers work. The main point of my writing about it at all is not only are the current gaps needing attention, but it is unclear what purpose they serve, if any.

"... but only being able to post if I had deposited 0,5 or even 1 BTC to a browser-based wallet (the most unsecure type of all). I could, but that seems way to risky."

I can set your mind at ease on this point, as it was essential to me in the first place, as I touched on in my first post here in OBC. The Xverse wallet can be hardware wallet backed. While it can be used without that security protection, I do not know why anyone would take that risk.

If not so, you and I would not likely be communicating, as I would never have joined OBC without the assurance of any BTC put in the Xverse wallet being secure.

"Can´t recommend OBC to Hivians at all right now (unless the expect hardly any rewards at all, in that case the 1000 Sats are a win)."

Yes, understood. Thank you for allowing me to reference your exchange with Starkerz on this point. We'll find out together what comes of it.

Morning
The update is on the way, I am sure the admins are currently providing solution to the problems.

Yes, @rogerlabanane, we can both assume that will happen in time. I will be very interested in Starkerz' response to my proposal to bypass the problems I am experiencing with this UI.

I see the lead image is still not working for you... I know you said it isn't this, but have you tried to post without centering the lead image. The UIs on Hive can be problematic to say the least.

I do have a couple of things before I delve into this properly. Hoping you answer, as I am being lazy.
Do you really have to make a 30% beneficiary to post in the community?
What benefits do you get for posting in higher tiers, ie depositing higher tiers?
Is it only really meant as an onboarding tool or can existing Hivians join?
And lastly is the only topic Bitcoin?

This is outrageously unfair asking you these, but I know your research is second to none and might know all the answers off the top of your head!

Yes, @tengolotodo.

"... but have you tried to post without centering the lead image."

As you will read in my own comments here, on my own post. I assume commenting on your own post is pretty unusual, but if you read both of them, perhaps it will become clearer why I made that decision.

"... but I know your research is second to none ..."

I don't know about that, but I am happy to try and answer your questions:

  1. Yes, mandatory, if using the OBC's UI. If you want to invest the time, reading the exchange between Starkerz and StayoutofHerz referenced in my post, on this question, may prove worthwhile.

  2. Exactly one of my questions, in my post. I am looking forward to getting a clear answer, in hopefully the not too distant future.

  3. Not entirely clear, but again I think you will find the above referenced exchange enlightening on this question as well.

  4. Yes, just Bitcoin related. I guess you could post whatever you wanted in here, but I cannot imagine you would be rewarded with Sats of BTC.

Thank you for these answers @quark.top
I did read the exchange and it seems the intent is to bring new users to Hive.
I did see from the exchange and then going to nosey at accounts that stayoutoftherz posted a wonderful theatrical post from Austria so no need to post about BTC.

However it may well be suitable for my @mmonline account as an alternative to onboard people to hive.

Certainly. I am happy to provide them, such as they are. I appreciate getting your perspective, as it seems for now that getting some clearly stated answers from the leadership is being put off.

While waiting, it sounds like you have an idea for how it might benefit your initiative to onboard new users. I'll look forward to reading about how that is going.

Only understand a bit about it but appreciate your will to do something

Thank you kindly for taking the time to stop by and share this with me. 🤝

I would love to see more tiers in between the 5000 sats, .5 BTC, and 1 BTC as well. BTC is so much different from Hive that I would mind seeing up to 10 tiers even if we have to group the feeds unevenly. I love that we have this here and VSC will take this to the next level. I'd much rather send a feeless sat to other creators rather than a NOSTR zap. Hopefully that will be a reality here soon...

!BBH

We are in agreement then, @bigakosensei. I say that based on what is currently still an assumption. That there is some purpose to them, but still not knowing what that is. Hopefully, we'll soon find out.

I am not familiar with NOSTR, but everyone is familiar with BTC. I definitely know my preference.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your perspective!

As you will see in my own comment to this post, @starkerz, the current state of OBC's UI has resulted in my lead image being hidden once again. As you know, there are other limitations which I have not mentioned.

To address this short-term, until resolved, I have a proposal or an appeal, as you wish, for your consideration. Anyone using their UI of choice, which is PeakD in my case or, perhaps, Ecency in the view of others, can still be a contributing member of OBC up

by voluntarily setting up
@btc4content as a 30% beneficiary.
